windows rtools missing gfortran.exe?
Hi,
I replaced my Rtools today as posted at
http://www.murdoch-sutherland.com/Rtools/Rtools.exe
Trying to build R-devel_2007-12-13.tar.gz without modifying MkRules
gives the gfortran command not found error below. I am wondering if
gfortran.exe is missing from (recent?) Rtools.exe or I am doing
something wrong.
Thanks to hints at Duncan's site, I worked around the error by adding

stage where I'm thinking of promoting dc2 and demoting dc1.

Cannot Build R From Source - Windows XP
Hi,
I can't seem to install R from source. I've downloaded the latest
Rtools211.exe from http://www.murdoch-sutherland.com/Rtools/ & done a
full installation of that and Inno Setup.
I have set R_HOME as C:\R (and also tried using C:\R\R-2.11.1)
After successfully running 'tar xf R-2.11.1.tar.gz' the modifications I
have made and saved as MkRules.local are:

problem building R packages in windows xp
Dear R users,
I am having problems building R packages in Windows xp. I have followed the
instructions from Peter E. Rossi in Documentation -> Other, except for the
TeX version (fpTeX), since when I go to the recommended webpage, it is said
that fpTeX has been discontinued. I have MikTeX in my computer, and I have
followed the recommendations in

Unix-like touch to update modification timestamp of file?
Hi,
is it possible to update the modification time stamp of a file using R
(on file systems supporting it)? It is sufficient to update the
modification time to the current time. The best I can do for now is:
touchFile <- function(pathname, ...) {
if (!file.exists(pathname))
stop("No such file: ", pathname);
info <- file.info(pathname);
if (info$isdir)

Hello,
I was trying to build R from source on Windows XP. I installed software which are mentioned from the follow web page http://www.murdoch-sutherland.com/Rtools/ (Last accessed on Nov. 13th, 2006) . Building R-2.3.1 for Windows with ATLAS
Ok, moved to R-devel.
I tried to build R-2.3.1. Since I intent to distribute this tuned R to
all other who have a computer like mine here at work I thought it was
best to stay with the latest stable release.
About your suggestion, I could'n find xerblas.o file. And I don't know
how to edit libf77blas.a. I tried to open it with VIM
(http://vim.sf.net/) but there was a lot of strange

Change of compiler for Windows build of R
The MinGW people have finally released a couple of builds of gcc 4.2.1
(and finally moved the build of 3.4.5 to release status after 19 months as
'candidate').
We intend to use gcc 4.2.1 for the binary distribution of R 2.6.0, and
builds of R-devel are being made with it from now on. The R-admin manual
now contains details of the pieces you need, and in due course there will
be an

I have a query after finding an error running Rtools on a Windows machine.
I am trying to build an update to the R fda library using Rtools27 under

Reading binary files
Hey guys,
I am currently trying to read in a binary file using this helpful manual:
http://www.ats.ucla.edu/stat/r/faq/read_binary.htm Reading binary files
I also have the detailed format description from the developer. But somehow
the reading of the file does still not work properly. The first entry in the
file is the following, according to the manufacturer:

R binary version with R_MEMORY_PROFILING
Hi all,
Where can I find an R binary version (>2.4.0 ) for windows that compiled
with R_MEMORY_PROFILING?
Within our application we are experiencing serious problems with memory
usage. And being able to use "Rprofmem" and "tracemem" command seems like
our best option.
Thanks,

having trouble building r-devel
Dear R-devel
On my Windows 2000 machine, I can build R-patched but not R-devel (since at least 1/9/2004). An error message pops up during the execution of some R code during "make", as below. In terms of "make" etc., I am totally clueless (not being a user of either Linux or C) and just mechanically follow the instructions in the R documentation; hence I've got no idea

MinGW and the ld bug
Hi.
I noticed that Brian Ripley found and corrected a bug in MinGW's
ld.exe, see http://www.murdoch-sutherland.com/Rtools/. Thanks for
this. I wonder if this is the same bug that cause my problems. I
have tiny toy package with C code that installs perfectly on R Version
2.2.1 beta (2005-12-18 r36792) [this version was mislabelled "beta"
the first few hours on CRAN when the stable

Building R for Windows with ATLAS
I think this is not a R-devel question. Sorry to all if I'm wrong,
please let me know.
I managed to build R successfully with the default BLAS but when I
change the MKRULES to use ATLAS BLAS and set the path to
"C:/cygwin/home/Administrador/ATLAS/lib/WinNT_ATHLONSSE2" I got the
following error message (I'm posting only the final part, there was a
lot of compilation before this):

I am having problems running R under windows XP. I can source files and get all the functions loaded, but when directing it to a file to carry out analyses it comes up with an error message. I am using R for analyses of gpr files generated from microarray slides using Axon genepix 2000.
I hope you have a solution to my problems.

Problem building (binary) packages for Windows
Hi,
I am having a problem building binary packages for
Windows recently.
Normally, I use the "Murdoch-Sutherland" tool set,
http://www.murdoch-sutherland.com/Rtools/
just build source packages by
R CMD build <pkgname>
and install these with
R CMD INSTALL <pkgname>
But now, for someone without having this tool set installed,
under Win XP, with R-2.10dev
