2.10.0 Under development (unstable) (2009-09-15 r49711) just built segfaults on Debian Squeeze
I just downloaded R-devel and when loaded it immediately segfaults. I'm not sure how much or what sort of diagnostic info and can provide, but below is my build script, my console output, and the output of uname -r. I am currently dependent on the development version of a package, so I'd like to get R-devel up and running if possible. I am sure there is more info I can provide, but before

[BioC] RCurl loading problem with 64 bit linux distribution
Martin, Well, thanks for jumping in! We need all the help we can get ;) I changed the execute bit as you suggested and recompiled, no luck, still the same error message. Below is the output you wanted me to look at, its a bit beyond me so I include both a brief grep summary and then the whole enchilada. I do note that my output is different from yours, but I'm not sure how to interpret. I

Dispatching on a dgCMatrix does not work.
I represent a graph as an adjacency matrix of class "dgCMatrix" (from the Matrix package). > xx 5 x 5 sparse Matrix of class "dgCMatrix" a b c d e a . 1 1 . . b 1 . 1 . . c 1 1 . 1 1 d . . 1 . 1 e . . 1 1 . To check if the matrix defines and undirected graph, I have made the following functions/methods: is.UG <- function (object) { UseMethod("is.UG") }

S4 method dispatch with inheritance
Hi, I'm trying to create a new S4 class (myMatrix) which for now just extends dgCMatrix (from package Matrix). Then I want to use "[" which is defined in Matrix. Out of the box with "[" (defined in Matrix) I lose the class information and the result is an object of class dgCMatrix. If I specify a "["-method for myMatrix, it is not used because a signature

RSPython won't load in R 2.6.0 under Linux
I can compile RSPython without difficulty, been when I try to load it, I get the error messages below. Also below are some cryptic warnings I get on R boot (in case these are pertinent) and my sessionInfo(). Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Mark Warning messages: 1: In .updateMethodsInTable(fdef, where, attach) : Couldn't find methods table for "conditional", package

What exactly is an dgCMatrix-class. There are so many attributes.
Dear R list, I came across dgCMatrix. I believe this class is associated with sparse matrix. I see there are 8 attributes to train$data, I am confused why are there so many, some are vectors, what do they do? Here's the R code: library(xgboost) data(agaricus.train, package='xgboost') data(agaricus.test, package='xgboost') train <- agaricus.train test <- agaricus.test

package:Matrix handling of data with identical indices
In the Matrix package v. 0.995-11 I see that the dgTMatrix Class for compressed, sparse, triplet-form matrices handles Identically indexed data instances by summing their values, e.g., library(Matrix) (Mt <- new("dgTMatrix", i = as.integer(c(0,0,1,1,4)), j = as.integer(c(0,1,2,2,4)), x = as.double(1:5), Dim = as.integer(c(5,5)))) ## 5 x 5 sparse Matrix of class

Creating sparse matrix of type "dgCMatrix" directly
I want to create a sparse matrix of type "dgCMatrix" using the Matrix package (and the matrix must be of this type even if other more compact representations may exist). I do > library(Matrix) > m1<-Matrix(rep(1,4),nrow=2,ncol=2,sparse=T) > m1 2 x 2 sparse Matrix of class "dsCMatrix" [1,] 1 1 [2,] 1 1 To convert m1, I do > as(m1, "dgCMatrix")

Thank you for your responses. I guess I don't feel alone. I don't find the documentation go into any detail. I also find it surprising that, > object.size(train$data) 1730904 bytes > object.size(as.matrix(train$data)) 6575016 bytes the dgCMatrix actually takes less memory, though it *looks* like the opposite. [TEST REQUEST] NV50/NV8x/NV9x ctxprog and ctxvals generator
So, I wrote a generator for ctxprogs on NV50, NV84, NV86, NV92, NV94, NV96, NV98. Atm it's only tested with NV86 and I'd like to see if it works for all the other cards, especially NV50. NVAx support is still missing due to some differences, but should be coming soon. Address is http://0x04.net/~mwk/gen.diff , please test it with all mentioned cards, and involve as much gallium as

problem with RCurl install on Unix
I am having trouble getting an install of RCurl to work properly on a Unix server. The steps I have taken are: 1. installed cUrl from source without difficulty 2. installed RCurl from source using the command ~/R_HOME/R-devel/bin/R CMD INSTALL -l ~/R_HOME/R-devel/library ~/RCurl_0.8-0.tar.gz I received no errors during this install 3. when I go back to R and require(RCurl), I get >

Subject pretty much says it all. I am running 64-bit Ubuntu 8.04, i.e. Hardy Heron, have openmpi installed, and get the following error message with attempted install of Rmpi. sessionInfo() follows. Matrix: How create a _row-oriented_ sparse Matrix (=dgRMatrix)?
Using the Matrix package, how can I create a row-oriented sparse Matrix from scratch populated with some data? By default a column-oriented one is created and I'm aware of the note that the package is optimized for column-oriented ones, but I'm only interested in using it for holding my sparse row-oriented data and doing basic subsetting by rows (even using drop=FALSE). Here is what I

Subsetting using [] vs. head(), gives different results. R code: > head(train$data, 5) [1] 0 0 1 0 0 > train$data[1:5, 1:5] 5 x 5 sparse Matrix of class "dgCMatrix" cap-shape=bell cap-shape=conical cap-shape=convex [1,] . . 1 [2,] . . 1 [3,] 1 .

See: help('dgCMatrix-class', pack=Matrix) If Martin Maechler happens to respond to this you should listen to him rather than anything I write. Much of what the Matrix package does appears

00LOCK error with site-library
I have identical R.profiles and R_HOME directories set up on both my local machine and a remote linux cluster. To keep my libraries and R install separate, I use a site-library on both machines. The first line of my .Rprofile is: '.libPaths(new= "~/R_HOME/site-library") #tell R where site-library is' Until R-2.6.0 this was working fine on both machines, but since I have been
