Difficulty Compiling RSQLite on Solaris x86 Using Studio 12 Compilers
Apologies if this is not the best list on which to ask for help. I have
compiled R 2.6.0 using Sun Studio 12 compilers. I can install most CRAN
and bioconductor packages that I need, with the exception of RSQLite.
Unfortunately this is critical for other packages that I need. I have
tried to compile it using R CMD INSTALL to generate a config.log file.
I don't know how to fix the reported

R-devel/Linux x64/Sun Studio 12: Problem with Matrix
Dear Developers,
motivated by the new Sun Studio checks I compiled R-devel and several of
our packages with Sun Studio 12 on Fedora x64.
Everything worked fine and R-devel runs, with the exception of package
Matrix where compilation crashes with the following message. The error
occurs during building of the recommended packages and also if Matrix is
compiled separately:

I'm following the instructions for the Sun Forte compiler. I had success with

Late Make Problem with Readline (PR#1673)
Full_Name: Jeremy Fox
Version: 1.5.0
OS: Solaris 8, 64 bit
Submission from: (NULL) (171.64.232.63)
I am compiling R under Solaris and the compilation stops at this point. The
problem only happens when I link in readline. The R binary is actually compiled
and readlne works.
The main problem with the compiled binary (other than that all the supporting
files were not
correctly installed) is that

Unable to configure R 2.2.1 on Solaris 5.10 x86_64
Hello,
Apologies for the post here. I have read the R-Admin (learned
a lot!) and searched the web for days, but still fail at compiling R on
my Ultra 20 running solaris 10 x86 1/06.
This is the tail of './configure' output:

Building R on Sun Solaris 10 (SPARC) using Sun Studio 12
R Help List:
Just curious if anyone has successfully built R on a SPARC
platform running Sun Solaris 10 using the latest Sun Studio
12 set of compilers. If so, I would be interested in the
compile flags that you used.
I have tried several different builds of version 2.5.1, 2.6.0,
and 2.6.1 using various different compile flags and I am able
to compile and check, but for whatever reason, the

optimizing R-1.4.0 build on Solaris; a show-and-tell storry
This is a little success story about the benefits of changing
the defaults in config.site when I was building R-1.4.0 for Solaris
(on a Sun Sparc that I'm currently using).
For previous versions of R, I had just used the default config.site and
not given it any thought. Since the Sun machine that I'm using
is not getting any faster, I decided I would give config.site a look
when building

bnlearn package compilation failure on MacOSX
Hi all.
I've recently uploaded a package (bnlearn) to CRAN. It builds fine
on both Linux (32 and 64 bit) and Windows, but fails on MacOSX ix86
because of C90 vs C99 issues:
http://www.r-project.org/nosvn/R.check/r-patched-macosx-ix86/bnlearn-00install.html
Since I've no MacOSX machine at hand, I would like to ask you:
why is C99 not the default for gcc on MacOSX ix86? Is it safe to

Using the 64-bit Solaris compilers make check dumps core in La_rs at

readline, 64bit solaris build
I've built a 64bit version of R 1.9.1 on a solaris 2.9 sparc system.
Everything
seems quite functional, except that readline produces the following:

> -I/usr/local/include -L/us
