--interactive and -f/-e
I was surprised by this: R --interactive -e 'interactive()' bash-3.2$ R -q -e 'interactive()' --interactive > interactive() [1] FALSE > as the command options document says that --interactive should force interactive=TRUE: " When *R* is run in a terminal (via |Rterm.exe| on Windows), it assumes that it is interactive if ?stdin? is connected to a (pseudo-)terminal

R_Interactive decision to halt execution during errors
Hi, I'm currently trying to use R as a back-end from an interface (you may have seen me on the help list), and I'm running into something that is rather confusing. The following lines in main/errors.c of R 1.5.1: 439: if ( !R_Interactive && !haveHandler && inError ) { 440: REprintf("Execution halted\n"); 441: R_CleanUp(SA_NOSAVE, 1, 0); /*

problem with findFun call from embedded R
I was debugging a problem reported to me regarding PL/R, and found that I can duplicate it using only R sources. It might be characterized as possibly a misuse of the findFun() function, but I leave that for the R devel experts to decide. The below results are all with R-2.5.1 (I can't seem to download r-patched at the moment, but didn't see anything in the 2.5.1-patched release

Disable interaction in R to use with Rserve
Is there a way to disable interactive behavior in R (?interactive), but without it affecting the default error handling and reporting? This would be needed to use Rserve without any interruption. The problem is that the Rserve expects every eval either to return or return an error. The connection gets stuck whenever R wants to display some kind of prompt. For example, when the user runs

Running an expression 1MN times using embedded R
Hello, I'm evaluating this expression expression({ for(x in 1:5){ .Call('rh_status','x') }}) a million times from a program with R embedded in it. I have attached reproducible code that crashes with Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0x00002b499ca40a6e in R_gc_internal (size_needed=0) at memory.c:1309 1309 FORWARD_NODE(R_PPStack[i]); Current language:

Running R embedded in an mpiexec spawned process - Fatal error: you must specify '--save', '--no-save' or '--vanilla'
I'd like someone familiar with the R options initialization to comment on a difference of behavior within/without mpiexec I have a (.NET) application with embedded R that is proven to run in a single process: ./Sample1.exe on a Debian Linux with R 3.0.2 Running the same code with mpiexec, it fails at the R engine initialization: mpiexec -n 1 ./Sample1.exe Fatal error: you must

Samba not working correctly after upgrade
Hello I just upgraded from Fedora Core 2 (Samba 3.0.10) to Debian Sarge (Samba 3.0.14). The Samba server is being used as a PDC with Roaming Profiles for about 25-30 Windows XP clients. Before the upgrade everything worked perfectly but afterwards I've had some minor issues and been able to sort them out. However I have two remaining problems and I've spent quite a bit of time on them

R_ParseVector problem: it's cutting off after the decimal point
Dear all, my aim is to integrate R in an interactive visualisation software called Bulk Analyzer developed by VrVis (http://www.vrvis.at). the code: SEXP e, tmp; ParseStatus status; PROTECT(tmp = mkString("x <- c(1.234,-3.45)")); PrintValue(tmp); PROTECT(e = R_ParseVector(tmp, -1, &status, R_NilValue)); PrintValue(e); UNPROTECT(2); produces the following output: [1] "x

FW: Parse Errors
Earlier I posted the message below to R-announce. Please, let me appologize for this mistake, it was not intended. The solution was provided by Duncan Murdoch who passed on a message he recieved from Brian Ripley which informed me that settimg R_Interactive to 1 changes the default behavor of aborting on an error. Thankyou, Don Wingate. -----Original Message----- From: Don Wingate

Warnings created during R_eval or R_tryEval not shown before R ending or R error.
Hi, I have an embedded R, with the evaluation of expressions happening over time during the lifespan of the process. I tried either `R_eval()` and `R_tryEval()` for the evaluation. The issue I have is that the processing of warnings does not happen until the process exits and/or R is shut down. Evaluating `warnings()` returns NULL (NILSXP). It seems like the warnings are stuck in a list out of

Problem with initializiing R main loop under Windows (R.dll-version: 2.15.1)
Dear R-developers, even though I may not be the first one to encounter the problem described below, I would really appreciate some help or a link to a forum where this topic is being discussed. Probably I am simply misinformed on the usage of structRstart but see for youselve. I did check multiple forums and the whole internet on the topic without success. I am using the shared library version

Callbacks seems to get GCed.
Dear list, I am trying to implement a publish-subscribe mechanism in for an embedded R interpreter. But somehow my registered closures seem to get collected by the GC, even though I have protected them. I have reducted my code to the following sample. Sorry if it is a little verbose. The first couple of call of calls still work, but at some point one of the callbacks (callback1 in my

[PATCH] isatty(): use TCGETS instead of TIOCGPGRP, like dietlibc does
While all ?real? ttys may support TIOCGPGRP, /dev/console doesn?t; using TCGETS here allows Linux booted with init=/bin/mksh-static to have working interactive command line (PS1, editing, etc).
