call an IP camera?
Hi,
is it possible to "call" an IP camera? I'm thinking about something like
bridging with a music stream, but instead of streaming audio, bridge with
the video stream from the camera.
It would be very cool if I could just call the camera and see what's going
on. Ffmpeg shows the following streams available from the camera:
Stream #0:0: Video: h264 (Main),

Peer-to-peer audio codec
A friend and I were recently talking about the possible
downfall of Internet radio, and as everyone seems to these days, decided
that a nice solution would be to set up a P2P broadcasting solution.
However, streaming has a completely different set of requirements than
file sharing, with bandwidth and QOS become much larger issues. As such,
we started to realize that a new audio compression scheme

whatever happend to unobtrusive javascript in Rails ?
Don''t get me wrong, JavaScript/Ajax helpers in Rails are a huge
timesaver and they have helped me to finally overcome my irrational
aversion to js libraries like prototype and such. However, all this
goodness seems to come at quiet a price. The resulting code is
littered with inline JS, including ubiquitous script tags and onload
attributes etc.. It seems that just when i found

IceCast Android MediaPlayer support
Thanks.
In http://developer.android.com/about/versions/android-2.2-highlights.html-
there is a support for HTTP progressive streaming. Does this mean that
IceCast is only Android-ready from 2.2?
I've tried some hours ago on Android 2.1 tablet and the app crashes at
start (couldn't find the reason yet). The same app works in 2.3.5.
Thanks, I can extract tags by IcyStreamMeta class.
Is there

[LLVMdev] llvm+gentoo=OK
Hi all
maybe it is of interest for someone:
I successfully compiled llvm and gcc front-end sources at Gentoo Linux
(even on exotic x86-compatible CPU). Things seem to be running OK.
This is a good prerequisite for making llvm ebuild script and promote llvm
to hackers of fast-growing progressive Gentoo world.

Trouble getting in icecast Directory
I have been trying to get my station listed in the icecast directory. I
would appreciate someone reviewing this to see what is wrong. I've
studied the documentation and I think I am doing what is required, but
my station is not showing up in the icecast yp directory.
I'm using icecast 2.3.2
I have the directory entry in the icecast.xml config file:

Live HTTP streaming of Theora files
What's the easiest way to broadcast a "live" event using Theora?
- Microsoft Media Services uses a closed protocol (MMS) and special
streaming servers, so I'm not excited to go that way, even though it
seems to be the most obvious choice. (Though I'm not sure if I could
convince it to use Theora anyway.)
- I could encode the entire file into an Ogg/Theora file and just

Progressive output on the views
There is one web page that because it request data from several web
services, it delays between 20 and 200 seconds.
So my idea is to display the status of the data that is being fetched
(or even the data as its being fetched) to the user, so he don''t have to
wait like 200 seconds thinking that perhaps the page is not working.
But until now, I always render the web pages totally at the

an info on 3d representation
Dear list,
sorry to waste your time. I downloaded R and I like it very much.
However, my main interest is in plotting 3D graphics form imported data
(points and lines in a 3d space). I imported data in a very elegant way
but I wasn't able to find in R something similar to the simple "splot"
function of WGNUplot (I don't need persp, image, contour: my values are

In-site migration from /etc/passwd to LDAP
I'm doing in-site migration of accounts from /etc/passwd to an LDAP
directory. The migration should be progressive (not all users at the
same time).
I'm already able to check mail for accounts in /etc/passwd and accounts
in LDAP.
The problem is with mail delivery. I'm using Postfix + Dovecot-LDA. This
is the error I get with every delivery

Cascading?
During the interesting interview that binaryfreedom has made with Monty
and Jack, Monty mentions cascading, a feature that will be added, quote:
"Cascading is the ability to make multiple passes through the frequency
spectrum, iteratively filling in more detail, like a progressive jpeg".
What are the advantages of something like this - does this generally
improves quality or is it used

Low bitrate: when?
Hi all,
Please could you tell me when is planned a version of Ogg Vorbis with
low bitrate encoding?
I'm waiting for this feature because I want to put my music on the web.
But the song is very long, about 30 mn (yes, this is progressive music).
So I fear nobody will listen to it except if the bitrate is cut down.
Thanks!

Can we reset CSI u mode on client disconnect? via
Some terminals support CSI u style encoding of keystrokes, typically via
the Kitty keyboard protocol[1].
Program wishing to receive this encoding need
to send a sequence like "CSI > 5 u" to enable it.
Imagine a process tree like
xterm -> bash -> ssh -> foo
where foo is any program that enables CSI u mode (such as a newfangled shell
or text editor).

undefined method `inherit'' for Merb::Test::ExampleGroup
RSpeckers:
I''m trying to install this into a Merb-generated RSpec rig:
http://code.jeremyevans.net/doc/fixture_dependencies/
It requires inserting their test case into RSpec. This is the documented way to
do it:
describe ''Post'' do
inherit FixtureDependencies::SequelTestCase
And that leads to the syntax error in the subject line. (No stack trace is
