[Fwd: Re: [R-downunder] Beware unclass(factor)] (PR#9641)
It really is unclear what is claimed to be a bug here. But see https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-devel/2007-May/045592.html for why the bug is not in R: your old and new data do not match. Your fit is to a category. [The problem with the web interface to R-bugs was reported last week: it is being worked on.] On Mon, 30 Apr 2007, r.darnell at uq.edu.au wrote: > This is a multi-part

I'm not sure if this is a bug, or if I'm doing something wrong. =20 =46rom the worms dataframe, which is at in a file called worms.txt at =20 http://www.imperial.ac.uk/bio/research/crawley/therbook <http://www.imperial.ac.uk/bio/research/mjcraw/therbook/index.htm>=20 =20 the idea is to extract a subset of the rows, sorted in declining order of worm density, with only the maximum

factors in multinom function (nnet)
Dear All: I am interested in multinomial logit models (function multinon, library nnet) but I'm having troubles in choose whether to define the predictors as factors or not. I had posted earlier this example (thanks for the reply ronggui): worms<- data.frame(year= rep(2000:2004, c(3,3,3,3,3)),age=rep(1:3,5),

Worms Armageddon: cant open Worms Armageddon folder on fake ../drive_c/Team17/Worms Armageddon
Hi, this is my first attempt at using Wine. After installing wine I tried to install Worms Armageddon with wine e:/Install/install.exe at first I got a lot of.... fixme:ntdll:FILE_GetNtStatus Converting errno 38 to STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL around 50 lines, then the installer appeared and I installed as on windows except to c:/Team17 rather than program files. I then went looking for the WA.exe file

data messed up by read.table ? (PR#9779)
Full_Name: Joerg Rauh Version: 2.5.0 OS: Windows 2000 Submission from: (NULL) (84.168.226.163) Following Michael J. Crawley "Statistical Computing" on page 9 the worms.txt is required. After downloading it from the book's supporting website, which is http://www.bio.ic.ac.uk/research/mjcraw/statcomp/data/ I visually check the data against the book and they look identical. Then I do

mixed effects model and r-squared
Heya I am fitting linear mixed effects model in R and want to assess the model fit (with Animal number as random factor; repeated measures for Animals): ts.model <- lme(LOG_FOC_MW ~ R_DN_SUM + ANIMAL + SEX+ YY, data = t.data, random = ~ 1 | ANIMAL, correlation=corCAR1(0.2, form = ~1 | ANIMAL ), method='ML', na.action=na.omit)). Background thread - entension code - switch contexts
Hi, I am using wxRuby 1.9.7 and Ruby 1.8.6. I have built an extension in C++ and used swig to load it into Ruby interpreter, which works great. The extension is an often long executing algorithm, and I''ve noticed that if I fork a new Ruby thread in button clicked event, and in this thread run the algorithm the application freezes for the time of execution. I have looked through the

cbind formula definition
Hi there, I have the following problem: I have a package called "polLCA" which has the following syntax: poLCA(formula, data) and needs the following formula definition: formula <- cbind(V1,V2,V3,...) So far so good. What I tried now was the following: #Get "data" with the "read.table" fuction data <- read.table("d:/ .....) #Select cols to use in the

Save & reload list objects
Hi, I think this is probably (& hopefully) very easy but I the ideas I have tried don't work. Simply, I have 2 very large lists in my workspace which take an awfully long time to make, each containing the information from 12500+ lmer models. I would like to now save these lists as files (txt, csv... whatever suits best) on to my computer/usb. Then I would like to be able to reload them in

coxme and random factors
Hi I would really appreciate some help with my code for coxme... My data set I'm interested in survival of animals after an experiment with 4 treatments, which was performed on males and females. I also have two random factors: Response variable: survival (death) Factor 1: treatment (4 levels) Factor 2: sex (male / female) Random effects 1: person nested within day (2 people did

glm error: cannot correct step size
R 2.8.1 windows XP I am getting an error message that I don't understand when I try to run GLM. The error only occurs when I have all independent variables in the model. When I drop one independent variable, the model runs fine. Can anyone help me understand what the error means and how I can correct it? Thank you, John > fit11<-glm(AAMTCARE~BMI+BMIsq+SEX+jPHI+jMEDICAID+factor(AgeCat)+

help: advice on the structuring of ReML models for analysing growth curves
Hi R experts, I am interested on the effects of two dietry compunds on the growth of chicks. Rather than extracting linear growth functions for each chick and using these in an analysis I thought using ReML might provide a neater and better way of doing this. (I have read the pdf vignette("MlmSoftRev") and "Fitting linear mixed models in R" by Douglas Bates but I am not

need help with avg.surv (Direct Adjusted Survival Curve)
Hello R users,  I am trying to obtain a direct adjusted survival curve. I am sending my whole code (see below). It's basically the larynx cancer data with Stage 1-4. I am using the cox model using coxph option, see the fit3 coxph. When I use the avg.surv option on fit3, I get the following error: "fits<-avg.surv(fit3, var.name="stage.fac", var.values=c(1,2,3,4), data=larynx)

MuMIn - assessing variable importance following model averaging, z-stats/p-values or CI?
Dear R users, Recent changes to the MuMIn package now means that the model averaging command (model.avg) no longer returns confidence intervals, but instead returns zvalues and corresponding pvalues for fixed effects included in models. Previously I have used this package for model selection/averaging following Greuber et al (2011) where it suggests that one should use confidence intervals from

need help with avg.surv (Direct Adjusted Survival Curve), Message-ID:
Well, I would suggest using the code already in place in the survival package. Here is my code for your problem. I'm using a copy of the larynx data as found from the web resources for the Klein and Moeschberger book. larynx <- read.table("larynx.dat", skip=12, col.names=c("stage", "time", "age", "year",

Build Clang/LLVM for AVR
Hi everyone, I've been wondering how to correctly build clang/LLVM for the AVR target architecture. Unfortunately documentation is very scarce (or outdated or I didn't find it) and while I've been able to build clang/LLVM for AVR I'm still falling short of compiling an actual binary for the MCU. Here are the steps I've undertaken so far: git clone

Winbind set to only serve certain addresses?
After a bad week of internet worms, I want to setup my clients so they can't see eachother at all. Clients talk to servers. Full stop. Now part of this is easy. If I use the correct option in my dhcpd.conf file I tell the clients to use WINS mode 2 (use a server) give them a server address, and it puts a stop to all that broadcasting. What I would like to do next is to keep clients

R6 "classname" and generator name
I'm writing some code that does a bit of introspection of R6 classes and am wondering about the "classname" parameter. Its the first parameter to the "R6Class" class generator generator function, and the few examples I've looked at on CRAN set it the same as the name of the generator function, for example, from the docs: Queue <- R6Class("Queue", .....)
