Wine'ing Windows Terminal Server Client
I've tried multiple ways to get into terminal server via WINE, but have had no success. I've got Notes, Service Center, Internet Explorer... pretty much all running smoothly... but when I try to use Internet explorer to get into it, I get a box that is outlined where the desktop is supposed to be (on the IE screen, and an object load error in the IE Log)...
I then tried to run mstsc.exe

non portable filenames
I am including an external piece of software in an R package. This
software ships with its own configure script generated by
autoconf/automake, and this script is being run as part of the package
configure script.
The package contains a file
m4/lt~obsolete.m4
which - as far as I can see - is a standard file from the
autoconf/automake/m4 suite of programs. A warning is generated with R

Pepakura 3.0.3a on OSX
Hello,
I'm new to Wine and I tried to run Pepakura Designer with it.
I'm using osx 10.5.8 and I've installed Wine through macports as advised in the download instructions.
I downloaded Pepakura Designer 3.0.3a because it was the the most up to version with a decent rating, however I've run into the DIB Init Failed issue:
Code:

That's a Windows "bug", not an R bug. Any name starting "prn" (upper or

Thank you. I was just replying my own message with the same information.
Sorry for not doing the research properly before filing.
Cheers

Possible bug: file.exists() always returns TRUE for prn.us.txt
Dear all,
while preparing some exercises I came across some highly surprising
behaviour of file.exists(). The specific value "prn.us.txt" always returns
TRUE, even though that file is nowhere to be found on my system.
In a fresh R session 3.4.4 installed on Windows 10:
> grep("prn.us.txt", dir(recursive = TRUE))
integer(0)

Nnet and AIC: selection of a parsimonious parameterisation
Hi All,
I am trying to use a neural network for my work, but I am not sure about my
approach to select a parsimonious model. In R with nnet, the IAC has
not been defined for a feed-forward neural network with a single hidden layer.
Is this because it does not make sens mathematically in this case?
For example, is this pseudo code sensible?
Thanks in advance for your help. I am sorry if this

openoffice & command line printing
Everyone,
I am trying to print some *.doc files from the command line with
openoffice on centos 5.5 with using cups as the print server.
I can open the file from the command line with open office and then
print it manually from the gui, but when I open the file and print from
command line I am not getting anything.
The commands that I have used are the following :
/usr/bin/openoffice.org -pt

WINEPS insists on using LPT1:
I'm running Wine 20010305. I am using the WINEPS driver and trying to
direct it to various printers on various ports. It seems to output to
port LPT1 regardless of the port I specify in the registry and
win.ini.
Here is a simplified scenario, in which I define only one printer, on
LPT2.
Can any one tell me what is happening?
Follow-up question: Am I limited to 9 printers, on LPT1-LPT9?

Win 9x printer problem
I am continuing to struggle with a strange SAMBA Printing problem. Here
are the details:
1) NT based clients can log on as guests or as users and can print in
either case with no problems.
2) Windows 9x clients can log in as either guest or as users and can access
shares with no problems.
3) Windows 9x clients attempting to print directly to the SAMBA printer
hang the print process and

cups printer oddity
Dear list,
in CUPS, I have to absolutely identical printers configured (I believe),
except for the printer name and the hostname it connects to. I use
cupsaddsmb on them (same PPD). When I try to connect to the printer
prn-1101-001-d110-1, it works; for prn-1101-001-d111-1, it does not. I
have narrowed this down to the following difference in the output of
rpcclient -c enumprinters:

Beginner question: How to replace part of a filename in read.csv?
I would like to use samp as a part of a filename that I can change. My source
files are .csv files with date as the file name, and I would like to be able
to type in the date (later perhaps automate this using list.files) and then
read the csv and write the pdf automatically. I have tried different
combinations with "" and () around samp, but I keep getting the error

Problems creating packages.
I'm creating my own package for personal and I'm having trouble
getting it to a point where R (v 2.3.1) will recognise it. I've
followed two different tutorials for how to create the package

what is 'class.ind' here?
Hi. The there is an example in nnet help which is pasted in below.
I am not sure how they are generating 'targets'. What is the 'class.ind()
function doing?
In the help docs for it they say "Generates a class indicator function from
a given factor."
I tried putting a simple vector of the "classes" into test.cl (below) but I
get an error of

Generalizing call to function
Hello guys,
I would like to ask for help to understand what is going on in
"func2". My plan is to generalize "func1", so that are expected same
results in "func2" as in "func1". Executing "func1" returns...
0.25 with absolute error < 8.4e-05
But for "func2" I get...

lmer and estimation of p-values: error with mcmcpvalue()
Dear all,
I am currently analyzing count data from a hierarchical design, and I?ve
tried to follow the suggestions for a correct estimation of p-values as
discusssed at R-Wiki
(http://wiki.r-project.org/rwiki/doku.php?id=guides:lmer-tests&s=lme%20and%20aov).
However, I have the problem that my model only consists of parameters
with just 1 d.f. (intercepts, slopes), so that the
