how to add a target to the Make that R CMD check uses for running tests?
I'd like to have some additional 'make' targets for tests that are run in <pkg>/tests by "R CMD check" (to do things like run tests with different pre-processing and post-processing, generate test summaries, etc.) Is there a good way to do this? At the moment I make 'make' jump through hoops, and it works, but I'd like to find a better way. A method I

tests Rin Rout
Hi the list, Some rumour (!) say that is it possible to prepare some tests for checking our code using .Rin and .Rout. It seems to be a very good practice, but I did not manage to find information on it. So does someone know how it works ? What are we suppose to write in Rin ? More precisely : - I have a package myPack.r in directories ~/myR/myPack/R/ - I create the directory

proposal to allow just transcript files (output only) in the 'tests' directory
Currently, as far as I can see, both input and output fles must be supplied in the 'tests' directory (the input in a '.R' file, and the output in a corresponding '.Rout.save' file.) Often, the '.R' file is redundant, as it could be reconstructed by simply stripping the commands out of the '.Rout.save' file. E.g., the command $ sed -n -e 's/^[>+]

Section 1.3.1 of R-Ext Documentation lists tests/Examples/pkg-Rex-Rout.save incorrectly (PR#13877)
Full_Name: Andrew Thornton Version: Webpage OS: Linux Submission from: (NULL) (81.154.9.63) The Writing R Extensions documentation at: http://cran.r-project.org/doc/manuals/R-exts.html lists two different filenames for making the example's Rout.save a test result. Section 1.1.3 says: "If tests has a subdirectory Examples containing a file pkg-Ex.Rout.save, this is compared to the

Creating .Rout.save files for package subdirectory "tests"
Hi, I added the "tests" subdirectory and a test file (say "myTest.R") to our "systemfit" package. Up to now I create the "myTest.Rout.save" file with > R CMD BATCH --vanilla myTest.R myTest.Rout.save However, "R CMD check" reports two differences between myTest.Rout.save and the output of myTest.R: a) myTest.Rout.save contains following

Generate .Rout.save files for vignettes
I am looking for a way to generate .Rout.save files for vignettes. The manual "Writing R Extensions" states here [1] in item number 20: "If there is a target output file .Rout.save in the vignette source directory, the output from running the code in that vignette is compared with the target output file." Yet, there is no pointer on how to get the correct .Rout.save files

R CMD check: should .Rout.save contain the new "Registered S3 method overwritten by" message?
Hi Since I believe 3.6, there is a message when loading a package that overwrites S3 methods, reading like "Registered S3 method overwritten by...". Should this message be included in the xxx.Rout.save files saved in the tests/ folder of a package? It seems R CMD check is not happy about it? I simply ran R CMD BATCH xxx.R xxx.Rout.save but running later on R CMD check on the package

[LLVMdev] Error building compiler-rt
Hi, I see that ENABLE_WERROR is being set to off (the default value) in the config.log in the llvm build. However on grepping for WERROR in the compiler-rt folder I get the following output: pranav at pranav:~/smack-project/llvm-3.4/src/projects/compiler-rt$ grep -Rin WERROR * lib/asan/tests/CMakeLists.txt:38: -Werror lib/asan/asan_malloc_mac.cc:253:// This function is currently unused, and we

timezone conversion difficulties with the new US daylight saving time switch over
I'm having difficulties with daylight saving times in US time zones. (Apologies for the long post, but the problem seems subtle and complex, unless I'm doing something completely wrong, in which case it should be evident from the first 10 lines below.) This is what I see, using a (slightly modified) example from ?as.POSIXlt : > as.POSIXlt((d <- Sys.time()), "EST5EDT") #

Dear Alexey, Yes I am sure that the llvm, clang and compiler-rt are synced to the same version. I downloaded them all from git http://llvm.org/docs/GettingStarted.html#git-mirror I think I need compiler-rt for my project but I'll verify it again to see if I can proceed without it. You are correct that compiler-rt is compiled with the just built clang. The complete command that gives an error

yes I think that is correct. I wrote a simple program to print if sizeof(uintptr_t) != sizeof(unsigned char *) and when I compile with gcc -m64 and execute it on a 64-bit host (that is different from the 32-bit laptop on which I originally compiled the program), it says the sizes are not equal.
