Merge (PR#9699)
Full_Name: Edward McNeil
Version: 2.5.0
OS: Windows XP
Submission from: (NULL) (203.170.234.5)
This is a new bug introduced to R2.5.0.
Scenario: If one of the data frames to merge contains two variables that have
the same name, then the data in first variable (of the same name) is copied to
the second variable in the resulting merged data frame.
In R2.4.1, the second variable name is

Windows metafiles in Linux
Just want to express MHO that the graphics produced by wmf.graph() in Splus
6 for Linux is only of barely acceptable quality (e.g., hallow circles were
drawn too thick, making the plot look rather awkward).

Building a dll for windows
This is a recurrent question but could not find the answer in the
documentation.
I want to build a dll for windows from a fortran program to be loaded with
dyn.load. I can do it easily for linux with: g77 -shared -o foo.dll foo.f
The g77 compiler (mingw-1.01) for windows does not recognise the -shared
option.
In windows the Writing extensions manual tells to use Rcmd SHLIB but I can't

I would like to have Surv objects in a data frame to build models easier:

surv<-Surv(t,s)
x1<-rnorm(100,10,2)

multiv
What happened to multiv package? I have installed R 2.0.0 in my Mac and I
could not find this package. I see other things have been reorganized. I
have read "What's New" and I have used the search facility in the RHelp
panel to no avail.

Are these job postings llvm-related? If not, they are off topic for this

Mac OS X crash bug?
Hi all,
I want to check if this is a bug for which I should file a report.
I am using R2.5.0 on OS X 10.4.9. When I invoke the data editor and
when I change the values of individual cells, it seems to work as
intended. However, when I try to delete/add a row/column, R.app
crashes. I've attached the crash log.
Best,
-Nathan

special characters in linux using dev.print
Hi List,
I want to print ? in a lattice graph label. This works in windows, but the linux version has problems - it cannot translate the character. Error is "invalid input in mbcsToLatin1".
I use the standard encoding and also dev.print(file="filename",dev=pdf, encoding="PDFDoc.enc")
I am afraid I don't know enough about the linux font encodings to figure out

Loading problem with XML_1.9
Hello all,
I have loading problem with XML_1.9 under 64 bit
R2.3.1, which I got from http://R.research.att.com/.
XML_1.9 works fine under 32 bit R2.5.0. I thought that
could be installation problem, and I tried
install.packages or biocLite, every time the package
installed fine, except some warning messages below:
ld64 warning: in /usr/lib/libxml2.dylib, file does not

Solutions of equation systems
Hello all!
Maybe it's a newbie question(in fact I _am_, a newbie), but I hope
you'll find the solution.
I have an equation system which has k equation and n variables (k<n).
I would like to obtain a description of the solutions (which can be the
equation of lines or a plane, or everything else) with the lesser degree
of freedom, obviously using R.
In other words, I would like to

Passing a workspace file as argument
What is the best way (if possible) to pass the name of a workspace file to R
when it starts so it is loaded instead of .RData ?
I would like to know this for Linux and windows version. For windows I would
like to associate the .RData extension so doubleclicking the file starts R
and loads it.
Thanks
