R-functions in C-Code
Dear R users, I would like to use several R functions from a C-code and I have read the "Introduction to the .C Interface to R". Unfortunately, my shared library with the C-code works only in cases where I use R-routines that are defined Rmath.h, eg. ************************************* less test.c: #include <R.h> #include <Rinternals.h> #include <Rmath.h> void

R_NilValue blows up on Windows
Ok, Here's the c code that's loaded into R as dll on windows: #include <R.h> #include <Rdefines.h> SEXP test1(SEXP col); SEXP test1(SEXP col) { SEXP col2; Rprintf("no value!\n"); return col2; } Compiles ok with bcc32 into a dll, loads into R as part of a library, I Run library(rkdb), then > .Call("test1", 2) no value! And puf! Rterm crashes.

C interface
Greetings, I am trying to call simple C-code from R. I am on Windows XP with RTools installed. The C-function is #include <R.h> #include <Rinternals.h> #include <Rmath.h> #include <Rdefines.h> // prevent name mangling extern "C" { SEXP __cdecl test(SEXP s){ SEXP result; PROTECT(result = NEW_NUMERIC(1)); double* ptr=NUMERIC_POINTER(result); double t =

using "rbinom" in C code gives me erroneous results... random variable is not random (always zero)...
Dear Listers, I am trying to use "rbinom" in my C code, but i always get zeros as output no matter the probability. Am not sure what I am doing wrong because the function has worked before. Attached in an example. Noticed that "rbinom" expects 'n' to be REAL. Regards, Vumani R 2.3.1 (2006-06-01) Windows XP Gcc /* Called this file binom.c and then ran rcmd shlib on it

Error when callin g C-Code
Hi when I call the function below in R, i get the error: Object 'pairlist' can't be converted to 'double'. #include <R.h> #include <Rdefines.h> #include <Rmath.h> SEXP CSimPoisson(SEXP lambda, SEXP tgrid, SEXP T2M, SEXP Ni, SEXP NT) { double sign, EVar; double *xlambda, *xtgrid, *xT2M, *xNi, *xNT, *xtau; SEXP tau; int ltgrid =0; int i = 0; int j = 0;

Running an expression 1MN times using embedded R
Hello, I'm evaluating this expression expression({ for(x in 1:5){ .Call('rh_status','x') }}) a million times from a program with R embedded in it. I have attached reproducible code that crashes with Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0x00002b499ca40a6e in R_gc_internal (size_needed=0) at memory.c:1309 1309 FORWARD_NODE(R_PPStack[i]); Current language:

Callbacks seems to get GCed.
Dear list, I am trying to implement a publish-subscribe mechanism in for an embedded R interpreter. But somehow my registered closures seem to get collected by the GC, even though I have protected them. I have reducted my code to the following sample. Sorry if it is a little verbose. The first couple of call of calls still work, but at some point one of the callbacks (callback1 in my

Changing arguments inside .Call. Wise to encourage "const" on all arguments?
I'm continuing my work on finding speedups in generalized inverse calculations in some simulations. It leads me back to .C and .Call, and some questions I've never been able to answer for myself. It may be I can push some calculations to LAPACK in or C BLAS, that's why I realized again I don't understand the call by reference or value semantics of .Call Why aren't users of

passing "..." arguments to a function called by eval()
Hi everyone, I am starting learn to call C code from within R. So far, I've been trying toy problems to see if I can get them to work. One of the things I'd like to do is pass an arbitrary R function to C, evaluate the value in the C code using eval, and then return it. I also want to allow an arbitrary number of arguments to the function using "...". The code for my toy

uninitialised value in R (PR#13476)
Hi, I get an "Conditional jump or move depends on uninitialised value(s)" from valgrind when using 'solve' in combination with some simple C-code. (I did not use other functions of R besides 'solve'.) In detail: running R --vanilla -d "valgrind --tool=memcheck --memcheck:leak-check=yes --num-callers=20 " and calling .Call("XXX") nd <- 3

suggestion of new API function for embedded programming.
While doing some embedded programming and trying to figure out how to generate a hand coded SEXP equivalent of the line "t.test(x,conf.level=(1-p))$conf.int[2]" I had an idea for an addition to the embedded API. There are a number of hidden or static parse functions (R_ParseBuffer, R_Parse1Buffer, etc.) which take an IoBuffer* and returns a parsed tree. If one or more of these

R-extension in unix system -- help to locate header files
Hi list, To call C, I used to use R-extension in windows but I'm moving to unix system because my PC doesn't have enough memory. My C codes requires to include the following header files: #include <stdlib.h> #include <R.h> #include <Rdefines.h> #include <Rmath.h> #include <R_ext/Applic.h> #include <R_ext/PrtUtil.h> In windows, I had no problem with it

malloc/calloc/strdup and R's aequivalents
Hello, when looking at "Writing R Extensions" with mem-allocation in mind, I wondered, which functions to use to substitute malloc(), calloc(), realloc() and strdup() and free(). It looked like Calloc() or R_Calloc() might be useful for some of my tasks, but when trying to use R_Calloc() for example, I got some error messages which I don't see where they are coming from. Maybe I

function can permanently modify calling function via substitute?
Dear R-devel: The following code seems to allow one function to permanently modify a calling function. I did not expect this would be allowed (short of more creative gymnastics) and wonder if it is really intended. (I can see other ways to accomplish the intended task of this code [e.g. via match.call instead of substitute below] that do not trigger the problem, but I don't think that is

Speed improvement to evalList
I've been inspired to look at the R source code by some strange timing results that I wrote about on my blog at radfordneal.wordpress.com (see the posts on "Speeding up parentheses..." and "Two surprising things...". I discovered that the strange speed advantage of curly brackets over parentheses is partially explained by an inefficiency in the evalList and

Code density functions
Hello I would like to see the algorithm that R uses to generate density functions for several distributions (i.e. Normal,Weibull, etc). I tried: >dnorm function (x, mean = 0, sd = 1, log = FALSE) .Internal(dnorm(x, mean, sd, log)) <environment: namespace:stats> How can I see the code used for densities? Thanks!

rmultinom.c error probability not sum to 1
Hi all, I should have given a better explanation of my problem. Here it is. I extracted from my code the bit that gives the error. About R variable references
Hello Group, I could use an advice on how SEXP handles work. My aim is to implement a system where I initially set a few global variables that are used for communication between C and R code. Then I do some work with R code and periodically call a function of my own that will update the system state. Such a design is useful for many purposes (for GUIs to name one). I am not entirely sure that R

Using R_MakeExternalPtr
Hi all, I've been writing a package and I've run into a problem that I'm unsure how to solve. I am looking to pass a C++ class object to R so that it may be passed back to another C++ function later on to be used. I'm quite new to R and this is my first time writing a package, so I hope you can bear with me. The following is how I create the class and use
