140 packages in R Commander!!
Dear List
I just downloaded and installed R 2.12.0 and then installed R Commander .
First it got RCmdr and Car, and then suggested for other packages for
utilizing the full functionality- I clicked yes!
I got 140 packages installed!!! Cran Mirror was UCLA...
Here is the list.
Is this intentional- I can see some packages like snow and multicore which
are desirable but quite optional.(see list

When installing ggplot2 on with install.packages("ggplot2", dep = T),
the colorspace dependency doesn't get installed (see below for

trouble installing building packages from source using R 2.6.0 on Ubuntu Gutsy AMD64
I have recently upgraded to Ubuntu Gutsy and, for the first time, am
using a 64-bit installation. After failing miserably to install R from
source, not a problem for me in the past with a 32-bit install, I went
the route of using the Debian Etch build. This went smoothly, but I am
unable to update my numerous R and BioConductor packages, getting
non-zero exit status errors on each package. Is

Problem when trying to install packages
Dear Rui;
Many thanks for your reply. I have installed Rtools (rtools43-5958-5975) on
my PC and I have R version 4.3.3 and 4.3.2 to install. Also I have
installed Rstudio through Anaconda Navigator.
But I do not know how to use Rtools for installing the R packages. I would
be more than happy if you help me.
Sincerely yours

Problem when trying to install packages
Though Navigator may mess up any Rtools stuff because it handles the
directory trees where packages and dependencies are located, does it not?
If so, maybe just reinstall RStudio directly from its website to proceed.
Just a guess obviously.

Problem when trying to install packages
Dear all;
I found a useful video on youtube that has explained how to install Rtools.
I followed the instructions and the problem was solved.

svyplot and svysmooth with hexbin
Hi all-
So sorry to bother you all with something pretty basic.
I am trying to add the lines method output from svysmooth to a svyplot with style="grayhex". However, the line either appears in the wrong place or if I am running in R Studio it causes the system to crash.
I know this is something to do with Lattice graphics, but for the life of me I can not figure out how. Dr. Lumley

read.spss {foreign} doesn't work over network?
I'm unable to open an SPSS file over my network. If I copy it to my
local C:/ drive I can read it. I saved the command (in a "crib sheet"
text file) in order to avoid all the typing, so I'm pretty sure I've
done it before. I verified that the file I'm trying to read is OK.
This is what happens:

Deberías instalar también, como poco, ggmap. RStudio no suele venir nunca mal.

Studio.
Esta tarde nos vemos!

Hola Beatriz,
Si me pasas el *.md lo subo a un Dropbox y si no es muy grande lo subo a
R-Hispano (linkándolo a la agenda)....
Saludos,
Carlos.

problem with `viridis` on Ubuntu 20.04
I've hit a bug on Ubuntu 20.04. The issue occurred both with the R
version that shipped with Ubuntu last week, and it is occurring now with
the CRAN packages from one of the mirros (deb
http://cran.mirror.garr.it/mirrors/CRAN/bin/linux/ubuntu/
focal-cran40/). The issue occurs whether I use the deb package for
viridis in the Ubuntu repos, or I install it with `install.packages()` in R.

Change default order of colors & line types
Dear R users,
I'd like to change the default order of colors & line types.
Especially I am using ggplot2 and using color Set1.
In Set1, the default color order is red, blue, green, violet,.. ect.
However, I want to put red in fourth (not first).
Likewise, I want to change the order of default linetype. I want to
put "solid" line in fourth.
How can I do thses?

Is it possible to increase MAX_NUM_DLLS in future R releases?
Thanks for all your great answers.
The app I?m working on is indeed an exploratory data analysis tool for gene expression, which requires a bunch of bioconductor packages.
I guess for now, my best solution is to divide my app into modules and load/unload packages as the user switch from one module to another.
This brought me another question: it seems that unload package with the

Forking and adapting an R package
Hello.
I'm trying to adapt the package ?hexbin? to suit my needs. This is the first
time I do this. I've read a bit through Hadley's ?R packages?, but now I'm
pretty lost (from a workflow point of view). I am using RStudio and Hadley's
devtools.
So I forked the repo I want to adapt: https://github.com/grssnbchr/hexbin and
cloned it using RStudio (I created a new project).
