question regarding "varImpPlot" results vs. model$importance data on package "RandomForest"
Hi everyone, I have another "Random Forest" package question: - my (presumably incorrect) understanding of the varImpPlot is that it should plot the "% increase in MSE" and "IncNodePurity" exactly as can be found from the "importance" section of the model results. - However, the plot does not, in fact, match the "importance"

Reset par(xaxp) in plot

xaxp with dates
Dear friends. As promised ver 1.01 solved the former problem and now dates plot OK in windows. But. In the following code, "cex.axis"=0.5 works OK but "xaxp"=c(14620,14680,4) has seemingly no effect. The limits for xaxp was found from the default plot and inspecting par(). I need to put the date marks at specific points. Could I suppress them altogether and make a new xaxis

randomForest - NaN in %IncMSE
Hi I am having a problem using varImpPlot in randomForest. I get the error message "Error in plot.window(xlim = xlim, ylim = ylim, log = "") : need finite 'xlim' values" When print $importance, several variables have NaN under %IncMSE. Sum: Reset par(xaxp) in plot
Many thanks to Peter Dalgaard BSA and Uwe Uwe Ligges for their prompt responses. It turns out xaxp can not be set by par(xaxp = c(x1, x2, n)) as indicatedd in Help for 'par' document. Both pointed me to the right direction by setting axes = F or xaxt = "n" in plot() and using axis(1, seq=c(0,150,15)) to produce an axis with desired intervals. Richard My original question:

Barplot2 using for loop, how to adjust margins?
Hi R-users, I inted to make multiple plots using for loop. The question is how can I adjust the left hand side margin of the plot according to the names.arg argument in barplot2. suppressing non-integer labels for plot x-axis
Dear R-helpers, I am having difficulty making R plot only integer labels on the x-axis of a simple graph. I want to plot the median values of a score on each of three occasions.
