make check failure: lapack.Rout.fail
I see that the comment in the lapack test indicates that developers are aware of this issue. Are there any known fixes to this problem? compiler flags, etc. an upgrade to a more recent gcc is not an option for me. this occurred while doing make check-all on R-patched_2007-02-11.tar.gz with the following: RHEL3 on x86_64 gcc (GCC) 3.2.3 20030502 (Red Hat Linux 3.2.3-47) GNU Fortran (GCC

make check-all failed on SLES8 for x86_64
Hi all, I've only now noticed that on our Opteron boxes running Suse Enterprise Server 8 that R-2.0.1 did not pass make chek-all. It bombed in tests/lapack.R at: > eigenok <- function(A, E, Eps = 1000 * .Machine$double.eps) { V <- E$vect lam <- E$values stopifnot(abs(A %*% V - V %*% diag(lam)) < Eps, .... lapack test failed (PR#7294)
Hallo, I've just installed R on our Opteron System (AMD Opteron 246). Running make check-all results in a failure during the lapack test: > ## ------- tests of random real and complex matrices ------ > > ## 100 may cause failures here. > eigenok <- function(A, E, Eps=1000*.Machine$double.eps) + { + V <- E$vect; lam <- E$values +

color2D.matplot
I am a true R novice aonly using it for this function ;) I am trying to use color2D.matplot to form a image of my data using the following conditions color2D.matplot(fi1, c(dr), c(dg), c(db), nslices=7, ylab='Species', xlab="gene", show.legend=TRUE) where fi1 is my matrix. I have a matrix with 36 columns and 130 rows. most entries are 1 or 0 and I am trying to get this

MacOSX 10.4.11 update breaks tests/lapack.R (R 2.6.0)? (PR#10454)
Hello, It seems the recent Mac OS X 10.4.11 update installed a new libBLAS.dylib in the Accelerate framework which either contains a bug itself or exposes a bug somewhere in R's lapack code on the PowerPC G4 and G5. My build of R 2.6.0 executed the tests/lapack.R code succesfully when I upgraded when 2.6.0 was released. After the OS update, it now crashes. This happens both with the version I

Problems with Lapack's eigen() on 64-bit
I'm only now realizing that we have severe problems with R on our AMD 'Opteron' and 'Athlon64' clients running Redhat Enterprise with all 64-bit libraries (AFAICS). The Lapack problem happens for R-patched and R-devel both on the Opteron and the Athlon64. Here are platform details: o "gcc -v" and "g77 -v" both end with the line gcc version 3.2.3

plotting issues with PCA
Hi Listers, This has a simple answer but it has been eluding me nonetheless. I have been building a PCA plot from scratch with the ability to plot predefined groups in different colors. This has worked fine but when I try to get a polygon drawn around each of the groups it is not recognising my colour file correctly and is only printing the first colour in the file....code is below

error returned by "make check" in R-2.5.0
Today I tried to install the R-2.5.0 (currently running R-2.4.1) on Mandriva Linux. The ./configure and make commands seem to run fine, but "make check" gives the following messages: running regression tests make[3]: Entering directory `/home/ethomp04/R-2.5.0/tests' running code in 'reg-tests-1.R' ...make[3]: *** [reg-tests-1.Rout] Error 1 make[3]: Leaving directory

Problem with eigen() and LAPACK
Hi all, when testing the new improvements in the new 1.7.0-version I stumbled over the following: >eigen(matrix(c(0,.3,2,.9),2,2)) Error in eigen(matrix(c(0,.3,2,.9),2,2)) : LAPACK routine DGEEV gave error code -13 >eigen(matrix(c(0,.3,2,.9),2,2),EISPACK=TRUE) $values [1] 1.3458236 -0.4458236 $vectors [,1] [,2] [1,] -1.1436890 -0.9760443 [2,] -0.7696018

error code 1 from Lapack routine 'dsyevr'
Hi, I got an error message in my program saying "Error in eigen(gene_intersection.kernel) : error code 1 from Lapack routine 'dsyevr' Execution halted". As you see, I was trying to compute the eigenvalues of a matrix but got this error. Is there anyone who knows what this error means and how I can fix it? Theoretically the eigenvalues should be nonnegative, if it helps.

R lapack routines cannot be loaded
I usually ran different statistical analysis in R with routines that use lapack like gam() lm(), etc but after several updates of libraries the following error appears: library(mgcv) This is mgcv 1.7-22. For overview type 'help("mgcv-package")'. model <- with(chlaR,gam(ClorMAX ~ s(DegDay_NM))) Error en eigen(St, symmetric = TRUE) : lapack routines cannot be loaded Adem?s:

error code 5 from Lapack routine 'dsyevr'
While using the rmvnorm function, I get the error: Error in eigen(sigma, sym = TRUE) : error code 5 from Lapack routine 'dsyevr' The same thing happens when I try the eigen() function on my covariance matrix. The matrix is a symmetric 111x111 matrix. Well, it is almost symmetric; there are slight deviations from symmetry (the largest is 3e-18). I have this in an MCMC loop, and it

error code 1 from Lapack routine 'dsyevr'
You can start diagnosing the problem by capturing the matrix that caused eigen() to stop. You can do this in a variety of ways; here is one trace(eigen, quote(lastEigenX <<- x)) After setting the trace, make your offending function call and after the error the global variable 'lastEigenX' will contain the bad matrix. Take the trace off of eigen untrace(eigen) If all goes

error code 1 from Lapack routine 'dsyevr'
Thank you for your reply. Do you have any idea of how to get rid of the errors? I tried Null function to calculate eigenvectors and nearPD to get approximate positive definite matrix first but they also had errors. -- View this message in context: http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/error-code-1-from-Lapack-routine-dsyevr-tp4702571p4702639.html Sent from the R devel mailing list archive at

LAPACK.dll and Excel with R 2.7.0
Hello, I was building a R addin for Excel. I was able to build R.dll, export to Rdll.lib and wrap it in a Excel addin (.xll) format. Most basic functions work fine within Excel except functions that use LAPACK, e.g. eigen, solve etc. But if you use solve(..., LINPACK = T). That's fine. So apparently the problem is with loading the shared library ../modules/lapack.dll. I read one of the

BLAS/Lapack for OS X
OS X 10.2 and higher comes standard with highly optimized versions of BLAS and Lapack in /Systems/Library/Frameworks/vecLib.framework. It seems that even for double precision they do much better. See http://sthmac.magnet.fsu.edu/benchmarks/ I am not sure how these numbers would look on G3 Macs, but obviously for double precision there is not much reliance on Altivec. So I tried to configure
