Point pattern to grid
Dear all, I'd like to change a point pattern to a grid of cells and use one of the variables as the output. e.g. The point pattern is of a window of (500*500) and several features such as pH, SoilType etc. I like to divide it into a grid with cell size 5*5, and use the mean of the point values falling inside the cell as the output. Is there any package in R working with this? Thanks in

Converting R help files to S-Plus 6 sgml,html
I have help files in several formats. Up until now I have converted nroff files to S-Plus 6 sgml and html files using Splus doc_to_S ... (creates .sgml file) Splus HINSTALL ... (creates .sgm and .html files) I maintain master help files in R .Rd files, and for some of my functions converting from .Rd to .sgm using R CMD Rdconv --type=Ssgm ... produces better .sgm files than beginning with

Finding the neighbors of the point
Dear all, I got point data of trees. I was wondering if anybody has experience in searching the neighbors within a specified distance efficiently. X Y Z 99 34 65 98 35 29 98 34 28 99 33 33 98 32 23 99 33 21 99 33 22 99 32 24 99 30 23 ... What I want to do is : searching for the neighbors with a distance R for each tree & the neighbor must have a bigger Z.

Where to put example files?
I'm writing an R package which includes some text file parsing functions, and I want to include with my package some example files to be used with those functions. My question is which directory should I put these example files in for the user to access? I have tried demo, example, doc and sample but none seem to work or "fit". Thanks in advance Mick

Fedora 29 upgrade: texlive-scheme-medium may depend on R
On upgrading my F28 to F29, I've found that R-core and a number of R packages: R-evaluate R-glue R-highr R-knitr R-magrittr R-markdown R-mime R-stringi R-stringr R-yaml are installed, although I only ever install R from source and always keep my Rs locally. So I don't use Fedora R rpms, but these were installed without my command. Something in texlive is doing this. A remedy is to

Need frequency distribution for x,y coordinates
Hi, I have a set of data in x,y coordinates across the range of -5 to 5 in each dimension. I would like to obtain the frequency distribution of the different points, and then graph them so you can see which of the points are the most frequently occurring. This would seem to be easy in Matlab, which has the hist3 command for doing frequency distributions/histograms in 3 dimensions. However,

help on dyn.load()
Hi, I used .C to call the C functions inside R. Everything works fine on the linux sever. I installed cygwin on my windows xp x64 platform and used rcmd shlib xxx.c to compile. Everything works fine till now and xxx.dll is generated. But when I use dyn.load("xxx.dll") in R, it will open another R window and the original R window becomes "Not responding", nothing loaded in

knnFinder package
Dear all, I have found some serious bugs in the knnFinder package (which supports data structures and algorithms for both exact and approximate nearest neighbor searching in arbitrarily high dimensions) that may trigger segmentation faults. I have fixed them but I had troubles to contact its maintainer Samuel E. Kemp (previously with the University of Glamorgan, UK). Do someone know where I

Zipcodes latitude and longitude
I see several mapping libraries but cannot find how to do a simple task. Starting with a vector of zip codes (in the United States and in Canada) I would like to automatically lookup the corresponding coordinates. Can you suggest a package and function that I should turn to? I would also like to automatically pull in the altitude, and some climate data. -- Farrel Buchinsky [[alternative HTML

plot problem
Hello. I'm pretty much new to R and I'm trying to produce some figures. It seems to me, that R has some asynchronous way of plotting figures. When I run this code: #constructs the semivariogram of SC1929 vgm1 <- variogram(SC1929~1,~U+V,puerto.map$att.data) # trying to make new plot dev.set(which=dev.next()) plot(vgm1) title(main="Semivariogram",font.main=4)

Import help (neophyte)
Hi, I have no experience with R and I'm finding the manuals a bit obtuse and written as if I already understood R. I'm trying to import a csv file from a floppy and it's not working. The code I'm using is read.table("F:\GEORGIA\species_richness\SR_use.csv", sep=",", header = TRUE, row.names = 1) I'm assuming that this command is case sensitive so
