Fitted values with small weights in lm.wfit (PR#11979)
Full_Name: Alexander Blocker Version: 2.7.1 OS: Ubuntu 8.04 / Windows XP Submission from: (NULL) (76.119.235.225) When running lm(modeleq, weights=wt, data=dataset) with small weights (<1e-10), I have encountered an odd phenomenon with fitted values. Due to numerical precision issues, the fitted values and residuals returned by lm.wfit (from its .Fortran call to dqrls) can differ greatly from

Problems building package at CRAN
Hello, I submitted the package RcppTemplate to CRAN a couple of weeks ago but the Mac OS X binary has not appeared, and the person in charge of that process (Simon) suspects that the problem may be due to a "nested DESCRIPTION file" so that "Package:" becomes RcppTemplateRcppTemplate, or something like this. Can somebody explain what a nested DESCRIPTION file is so I can

C function with unknown output length
Hi all, Could anyone point me to one or more examples in the R sources of a C function that is called without knowing in advance what will be the length (say) of the output vector? To make myself clearer, we have a C function that computes probabilities until their sum gets "close enough" to 1. Hence, the number of probabilities is not known in advance. I would like to have an

Call R program from C++ code
Hi All: I'm developing an application program using C++. From my C++ code, I would call some R program I have written. I' wondering if R provide some compiler that can compile R program into executable program. I searched R-help, there are a lot of posts talking about writing C++ code in R program, but few about calling R from C++. I might be wrong that R

RcppTemplate find example C++ souce code without Rtools ??
Dear R users, I would like to call R from C++ and Rcpp class library already compiled are a big advantage !! I have already read the doc/PDF in the installed package 5.0 and all the posts in this forum It's possible to get the source code (RcppExample.cpp) whitout Rtools ?? (i'm not familiar whit Rtools) many thanks in advance Roberto Iacopetti win XP sp 2.2600 Dev-C++ 4.9.9.2 R

Rcpp: Clarifying the meaning of GPL?
I wrote the Rcpp library and the RcppTemplate package to make it easier for developers to contribute packages to the R community. In addition to providing detailed documentation on package creation it provides a clean object mapping between R anc C++ that helps developers to implement packages that benefit from the performance of C++ and the flexibility of R. The package named 'Rcpp' was

Archive policy and Rcpp?
It appears that my archived packages Rcpp and RcppTemplate have been removed at CRAN, yet they appeared in the CRAN archives until recently. What is the CRAN policy on archives and removal? Thanks, Dominick [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Problem using ofstream in C++ class in package for MacOS X
Dear all, I am currently learning how to create R packages using C++ classes. For this purpose I have written a small package MyClass (which I try to attach since I do not have access to a website). MyClass has methods WriteFileC() and WriteFileCpp() which implement C-style and C++-style writing of a table to a file using FILE or ofstream respectively, and the corresponding R-functions

C vs. C++ as learning and development tool for R
I have 3 years of experience with R and have an interest in becoming a better programmer so that I might someday be able to contribute packages. Other than R, my only experience was taking Lisp from Daniel Friedman in the 1970's. I would like to learn either C or C++ for several reasons: To gain a better concept of object oriented programming so that I can begin to use S4 methods in R. To

Creating GUIs for R
Hi all, I have looked around for help on creating GUIs for R, but haven't found anything. I would be interested in any advice or webpages that have information on the best language, tutorials etc. for creating simple GUIs. Mainly I want to do this as a heuristic exercise. Thanks for any help. Wade Wall [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Rcpp package relaunched
New Rcpp versions 0.6.0 and 0.6.1 --------------------------------- The Rcpp package provides C++ classes that greatly facilitate interfacing C or C++ code in R packages using the .Call() interface provided by R. Problems building package under Windows (PR#9303)
Dear R people I want to contribute a new package (various noncentral hypergeometric distribution functions) using C++, but there are many errors when I try to build even a simple package. Here are the most important errors I have encountered so far: 1. Trying to build the DLL, it can't find some of the include files. I had to make the following change in Makefile and copy some .h files:

Problem in loading all packages all at once
Hi All Please see the Rprofile file which i have modified as follows and after that when I start R then I see that R says to me "TRUE" for all the packages implying that all loaded at once. But when i try to use commands as simple as help("lm"), it doesnt work nor any of the menu "Packages" is not working. Although the regression using lm ( Y ~ X ) is working

setting constraints on gam
I am fitting a model in which the response variable y is a function of two independent, quantitative variables x1 and x2; thus: y = f(x1, x2). For reasons I do not believe to be important for the purpose of this post, I find it desirable to find f by means of GAM; also, I require principal effects and interactions to be specified separately, so I am using using te and ti tensors. Thus, I am using

setting constraints on gam
There probably is a way, but it involves some programming. You would need to clone a smooth constructor (e.g. for the "cr" class), and then modify it to add a linear constraint matrix C to the returned smooth object. If b are the smooth coefficients then C should? be the matrix such that s(0) = Cb (you can get this from the Predict.matrix method for the class). Then the constraint

Thanks Simon, by cloning a smooth construct do you mean copying and modifying the smooth constructor code? Could you pleas elaborate on your answer? Which is the Predict.matrix method? 2018-01-12 3:20 GMT-06:00 Simon Wood <simon.wood at bath.edu>: > There probably is a way, but it involves some programming. efficiently multiply different matrices in 3-d array with different vectors?
Hello, I have been wondering of an efficient way to do this: I have an n x m x p array Z and a p x n matrix Y. I want to multiply each of the n matrices with the corresponding column vector of Y. In other words, I am wanting to matrix multiply: Z[i, ,] %*% Y[, i] which will give me a (two-dimensional) array or matrix of dimension n x p with the i'th row storing the above. Any pointers

tensor() function and sets
Hi Everyone, To complete the outer() and kronecker() functions in the base, may I suggest the following tensor() function, which allows the multiplication of arrays through sets of conformable dimensions. I am happy to write a help page if required. The code also needs a setdiff() function which prompts me to ask: what about simple set functions? I expect many of us have written our own
