tcltk, X11 protocol error: Bug?
Hi, I am having trouble debugging this one. The code is attached below, but it seems to be a problem at the C-tk interface. If I run this 1 time there are no problems if I run it more than once I start to get warnings that increase in multiples of 11 everytime I run it. Here is a sample session > source("clrramp2.r") Loading required package: tcltk Loading Tcl/Tk interface ... done

GUI component Margin on tkcanvas, tkframe or tktoplevel
Dear gurus: I have a question on how to configure the margin layout on tcl/tk GUI objects like tkcanvas, tkframe or tktoplevel. For example, if I want to leave a larger margin on the left side of the GUI container, which one should I configure, the toplevel or tkcanvas or tkframe? top<-tktoplevel() canvas<-tkcanvas(top, relief=, borderwidth=...) I also find the documentation for all

Rgui and tcltk
I am having a little problem in relation to sending output to the R Console window, when a function is called by pushing a button in a Tk window. Actually there seem to be two components to the problem: -- the R prompt does not re-appear until <return> is pressed -- text output to the R Console window *disappears* after <return> is pressed The following, in R 1.1.1 under

R Tcl/Tk [MacOSX] TkButton Problem
Hi, I have a tktoplevel window and in it a tkbutton: AUS <- function() { foo(parameters); } AUSButton.but <- tkbutton(tt,text="OK",command=AUS) The function foo(...) does a time-consuming calculation, and during this calculation there is printed some progress information to the console. My problem: When I click the button "OK", the tktoplevel window and the R console

callback environment for Tk buttons
Hi. I'm running into problems with using R functions as callback commands for buttons in Tk. The following Tcl/Tk script creates three buttons. If you press hello it prints hello world. If you press HALLO it prints HALLO WORLD. Not exciting, but I need an example... set tt [toplevel .tt] foreach i {"hello" "HALLO"} { pack [button $tt.b$i -text $i

tcltk crashes with bad color with text widget
Hello I have been playing with tcl/tk in R 2.4.0 on windows XP and have managed to crash R by supplying tcl/tk with an incorrect color. Is this a bug? is there a way for me to test the color to see if it is a valid tcl/tk color, to avoid this? tt=tktoplevel() tklabel(parent=tt, text="hello world", foreground="reed") Error in structure(.External("dotTclObjv", objv,

Difficulties with R.oo (static fields, etc.)
I would like to use R.oo and tcltk to implement a Turtle World. I have encountered many problems because: 1) I am not sure how to implement static fields with R.oo 2) I am not sure how to implement a constructor that would call a function only for the first instance of a class (i.e., to initialize value of static fields only once) 3) I am not sure how to remove/delete cleanly existing

tcltk: Difficulties creating menus
I am struggling with adding menus to a tcltk application. The following example (from the O'Reilly book on Perl/Tk) works fine: #!/usr/bin/perl -w use Tk; my $mw = MainWindow->new; $menub = $mw->Menubutton(-text => "Color")->pack(); foreach (qw/red yellow green blue grey/) { $menub->radiobutton(-label => $_, -command => \&set_bg,

misbehaviour of some tk windows, R 2.6.0 on SUSE 10.1?
I don't know whether this is specific to (my installation of) SUSE 10.1, or is more general. With R 2.6.0, I am finding that some widgets made through the tcltk package are having problems which become evident through scrollbar activity. An example is demo(tkfaq) -- see below. To reproduce the problem, I do the following: after the tk window appears, hold down the
