R CMD BATCH vs R CMD batch
Hi,
Out of laziness I just used "R CMD batch" instead of "R CMD BATCH". I
didn't get an error so didn't think about the consequences... One
consequence is (at least on Mac OS X 10.11 but probably in more
generality) that R_BATCH_OPTIONS are ignored, which was kind of fatal
in my case... I am thus wondering whether it makes sense to either a)
have R_BATCH_OPTIONS also

installing packages and windows vista
I installed R (R-2.4.1-win32.exe) on a new computer with Windows Vista
and a 64 bit operating system (hp dv9000 with intel core t7200). The
base R runs fine, but I can not get any of the packages to load. From
within R I choose install packages choose a site then a package. I
tried installing 2 packages and get similar errors (see below), I just
copied and pasted lines from R.

moving LDAP from one domain to another
Hello,
I am moving LDAP from one domain to another
We have moved off of a.wustl.edu network to b.school.edu network.
I have searched
vi /etc/nslcd.conf
vi /etc/openldap/ldap.conf
and removed all referances to "a"
I restarted
/etc/init.d/nscd restart
this is redhat 6.7, and my ldap server is now ldap.b.wustl.edu:389
a.school.edu to b.school.edu
I keep getting messages

[PATCH v3 1/2] nouveau/bl: Assign different names to interfaces
From: Pierre Moreau <pierre.morrow at free.fr>
Currently, every backlight interface created by Nouveau uses the same name,
nv_backlight. This leads to a sysfs warning as it tries to create an already
existing folder. This patch adds a incremented number to the name, but keeps
the initial name as nv_backlight, to avoid possibly breaking userspace; the
second interface will be named

FW: [Fwd: Re: [S] Exact p-values]
Dear all
Just for fun, I have just downloaded the paper mentioned below and checked
it with R-1.6.1.
Everything is ok with exception of Table 2b, where I get always 1 instead of
0.5:
> pbinom(1e15,2e15,0.5)
[1] 1
Which value should be correct?
Best regards

Everything with that is working fine, but I seem to be having a problem with
the ks.cfg file.
When I boot the install media from the usb drive, the the boot prompt I type
linux ks=hd:/dev/uba1/ks.cfg
Then I peek at the logs and it even says

Using R to format a file using a server (PDB to PQR file)
I am trying to write a program that uses R and takes a pdb file, and converts
it to a pqr file. This task is simple generally, using the website,
http://pdb2pqr-1.wustl.edu/pdb2pqr/. How do you use R to input a pdb file
(that is on hand) into the upload pdb file input, and run the website and
give the return file to be a pqr file. Thanks for your help.

If you are not sure whether you have observed a bug or not, it is a good
idea to ask on the mailing list R-Help by sending an e-mail to
r-help at stat.math.ethz.ch rather than submitting a bug report.
I'm wondering whether to submit a bug report on this:

Substituting numerical values using `apply'
Hello,
I wish to perform a substitution of certain numerical values in a data
matrix with the corresponding column name. For instance, if I have a data
matrix
V1 V2 V3
2 0 1
0 1 2
1 5 0
5 0 0
I want to substitute the `1' and the `2' for the corresponding column name,
and make everything else `NA' like this
V1 V2 V3
V1 NA V3
NA V2 V3
V1

R is open source.... (and shell scripts are considered self-documenting by some)
On Unix-alikes, R is a shell script which, if called with 1st argument CMD, calls ${R_HOME}/bin/Rcmd, which is another shell script that ends with
