Cramer-von Mises normality test
Hi, this is my first help request so please bear with me. I've been running some normality tests using the nortest package. For some of my datasets the Cramer-von Mises normality test generates an extremely high probability (e.g., 1.637e+31) and indicates normality when the other tests do not. Is there something I'm misunderstanding or potentially a bug in the code? Below are the

normality testing with nortest
I don't know from the nortest package, but it should ***always*** be the case that you test hypotheses H_0: The data have a normal distribution. vs. H_a: The data do not have a normal distribution. So if you get a p-value < 0.05 you can say that ***there is evidence*** (at the 0.05 significance level) that the data are not from a normal distribution. If the nortest package does

Minor bug in lillie.test from nortest package (PR#9784)
Full_Name: David Sterling Version: 2.4.0 OS: OS X Submission from: (NULL) (64.81.102.199) lillie.test() dies without grace producing the error message: 'Error in if (pvalue > 0.1) { : missing value where TRUE/FALSE needed' when passed a vector of identical values. R-Help
Respected Sir I am a very new user of R. I want to ask a question about "the nortest package". In this package how we can write the code of ad.test, cvm.test, ks.test for other distributions like GEV, GPA etc. I request you to please guide to me. Gecko installs but page faults on execute
Using Kubuntu 7.10 with a fresh apt-get on Wine, running winecfg, then doing wine iexplore http://winehq.org to install Gecko seems to work just fine, but when it finishes it goes into a page fault and then never works. two sample Cramer-von Mises test
Hello list, Is there any function in some package can calculate two sample Cramer-von Mises test statistic? I searched around and only find one sample version cvm.test() in nortest package. thanks, WC _________________________________________________________________ Don’t just search. Find. Kolmogorov-Smirnof test for lognormal distribution with estimated parameters
Hello all, Would somebody be kind enough to show me how to do a KS test in R for a lognormal distribution with ESTIMATED parameters. The R function ks.test()says "the parameters specified must be prespecified and not estimated from the data" Is there a way to correct this when one uses estimated data? Call connected, cannot hear or speak - $20 for fix
I am able to get this script to dial, but I am unable to talk or hear anything. The script asks for the number to call and the the caller id to display (if user is not at their normal extension). Once submitted, the external extension receives a call, once answered the call is then placed to the dentition number. The script works as the call is place, but I cannot hear or say anything. GLMNET AUC vs. MSE
Hello - I am using glmnet to generate a model for multiple cohorts i. For each i, I run 5 separate models, each with a different x variable. I want to compare the fit statistic for each i and x combination. When I use auc, the output is in some cases is < .5 (.49). In addition, if I compare mean MSE (with upper and lower bounds) ... there is no difference across my various x variables, but

Error: could not find function "ad.test"
Hi, I'm trying to run an anderson-darling test for normality on a given variable 'Y': ad.test(Y) I think I need the 'nortest' package, but since it does not appear in any of the Ubuntu repositories for 2.10.1, I am wondering if it goes by the name of something else now? (no subject)
Hi there, I am trying to perform different normality tests in R. I have no problem when I use Shapiro.test( ). However, when I try to use any normality tests from the Nortest package, I kept getting this error " Error in read.table(source, header = T, fill = T) : 'file' must be a character string or connection". I have no idea why because there was no problem with

Test Normality
Good Night I made different test to check normality and multinormality in my dataset, but I don´t know which test is better. To verify univariate normality I checked: shapiro.test, cvm.test, ad.test, lillie.test, sf.test or jaque.bera.test and To verify multivariate normal distribution I use mardia, mvShapiro.Test, mvsf, mshapiro.test, mvnorm.e. I have a dataset with almost 1000 data and 9

Competing with one's own work (Prof. John C Nash)
John, thanks for starting (or restarting) this thread.? I'd like to add to the discussion with another concrete example, about as simple as it gets, which may help focus at least part of this discussion. I have worked with Taylor Arnold to implement a method developed in Conover (1972) for Kolmogorov-Smirnov goodness-of-fit tests for discrete distributions (one-sample only).? We needed this

modification of the function ecdf
Dear R users, I am trying to minimize the distance between my data points and theoretical gamma distribution over shape and scale parameters. the function "mde" from actuar package does it for empirical distribution function and theoretical gamma distribution. However, I would like to minimize the distance by using only the data between 0.1 and 0.9 quantiles. I cannot use ecdf in this

Reg: ggplot error
Dear All, I am using roptest function of package "ROptEst" (Kohl and Ruckdeschel (2019)) to find out the ML, CvM-MD, and the RMX estimator and their asymptotic confidence intervals. I am assuming 1-5% of erroneous data for the RMX estimator. Then I am trying to Plot the data in the form of a histogram and add the three Gamma distribution densities with the estimated parameters and

detect if data is normal or skewed (without a boxplot)
Hello all: Is there a way to detect in R if a dataset is normally distributed or skewed without graphically seeing it? The reason I want to be able to do this is because I have developed and application with Visual Basic where Word,Access and Excel "talk" to each other and I want to integrate R to this application to estimate confidence intervals on fish sizes (mm). I basically want to
