A modified log transformation with real finite values for negatives and zeros?
Does anyone have any ideas (or even experience) regarding a modified log transformation that would assign real finite values to zeros and negative numbers? I encounter this routinely in a couple of different situations: * Physical measurements that are often lognormally distributed except for values that are less than additive normal measurement error. I'd like to take

negative and positive values in diff. colors
Hi R-users, I have a set of elevation residuals as geodata points. I would like to display them in the following way: -negative values using pch=20 (filled circle) -positive values using pch=1 (empty circle) while using the cex.max=5, cex.min=0.1 for points() to represent the residuals value. Basically I would like to distinguish neagtive and positive values at my map. How to do this. Thanks

Frequent RRL false negatives when using multiple server processes on Linux
Hi, Please advise how to use Response Rate Limiting on a server which has multiple NSD server processes (nsd.conf server section has server-count > 1). We have a problem with NSD v3.2.16 repeatedly unblocking and blocking again a single source which is flooding positive queries at a ~steady 700 qps rate. rrl-ratelimit setting is the default 200 qps. The unblock-block happens multiple times

U value from wilcox.test
Dear all, I want to compare the efficiency of 2 methods in extracting proteins from algal samples. I collected 6 independant algal samples and I extracted 3 by the method 1 and 3 others by the method 2. So I have 2 groups of 3 samples, that are not paired. I would like to know if the results obtained by these 2 methods are significantly different, I hope method 2 to be more efficient than method

compute coefficient of determination (R-squared) for GLM (maximum likelihood)
Dear, I want to compute coefficient of determination (R-squared) to complement AIC for model selection of multivariable GLM. However, I found this is not a built-in function in glm. neither is it available through reviewing the question in the R-help archive. Please kindly help and thanks a lot. Memory Leak with PHP
I understand that this problem may have very little to do with CentOs, but it happens to occur on a CentOS webserver and maybe you?ll have a clue. Since a few months, after many upgrades on several blogs (now running with PHP7), our server is eating up RAM no end. PHP processes swell to over 2 GB (each) and when the whole RAM and the whole swap are full, problems stack up and finally paralyze the

fractional balanced design conjoint analysis
L.S. We would like to generate fractional design for a conjoint analysis. For example we would like to reduce 2x2x2x2x3 --> 12-16 profiles. We tried the R-package "conjoint" and we found an article which describes how to make fractional design for these kinds of studies with Algdesign: http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/e10/help/att-8876/DCE_with_R.pdf However, the generated

command 'service smb status' returns many process IDs
Hello, I have a Samba4 server running on Linux CentOS 6. Many users use this Samba service from their Windows PCs. After the Samba service is started (service smb stop ; service smb start), days later, just don't know when, running the command 'service smb status' would return many process IDs, like this: smbd (pid 32557 32240 32204 32202 31880 31874 31788 31714 31707 31337 31107

smbmount on redhat 9
I use samba in a very limited application to mount smb shares using smbmount. I have a simple script I use that mounts several shares to a variety of mount points as a specific user on my system. The script passes username, password, share, mount point, domain information to each call to smbmount. This script worked perfectly under redhat 8.0 but since upgrading to redhat 9 I have had some

Indexing Mail faster
Hi, I am trying to get faster search results on our webmail client(Roundcube). Besides using Lucene for FTS are there other options? Would having all mails indexed give fast results? Currently the time it takes to search 25,000mails is 4mins. If indexed how much faster are we looking at? Really appreciate if someone could advise about this. Thanks Kevin

With a current version of Dovecot a search is pretty fast _without_ using external indexes. I have a view defined (virtual plugin) with around 22.000 messages in it, and searching the full view only takes 2.5

Problem With Android Configuration
Yes. The problem is lollipop. I tried to install tinc on my brother's device which mount a cyano 10.1( android 4.2.2) and it works. I don't understand which is the problem with lollipop. Is there a firewall that block the packets? Andrea Squeri If you are running Lollipop / Android 5.x on your Nexus 5, then you are probably seeing the same issue I was with it. lollipop seems to change

Option configure
Funny current debian service files use a wrong PIDFile path (should be /var/run/amba/samba.pid). If I use Type=forking and an wrong PIDFile systemctl start samba must be CTRL-C'ed. Type=notify works with or without an proper PIDFile. Am 12.07.2016 um 22:47 schrieb Sonic: > On Tue, Jul 12, 2016 at 4:29 PM, Achim Gottinger <achim at ag-web.biz> wrote: >> Does your PIDFile
