wishlist: summary for regression models to report number of omitted cases because of NAs (PR#8824)

Whenever any observations are excluded from a regression analysis (lm, glm, and
other similar procedures) because of missing values, I would find it very useful
if this fact is directly visible from the output. I think that the information
should not only be available (I can e.g. look at length of the

Wishlist: install.packages to look for the newest version (PR#13853)
Uwe,
I am talking binaries and Windows. I was not thinking of building
binaries for old versions, but of looking in the new version
repositories first, whether there is a binary that is said to be valid
for the older version. Wouldn't it be possible to have the process look
up a table of a newer R version for compatible binaries ?
I got stuck with R 2-8.1 (which is not that old and should

Wishlist: xtabs and table to optionally use attribute value labels (PR#8659)
Full_Name: Ulrike Gr?mping
Version: 2.2.1
OS: Windows
Submission from: (NULL) (84.190.139.94)
A wish somehow related to my wish 8658: Package foreign allows to import
categorical data from SPSS (and possibly other software) using the original
codes, which are often useful for data manipulation, since one can use already
available lists of codes from others who don't use R etc. The original

Wishlist: merge and subset to keep attributes (PR#8658)
Full_Name: Ulrike Gr?mping
Version: 2.2.1
OS: Windows
Submission from: (NULL) (84.190.139.94)
When importing data from SPSS, it is a nice feature of the package foreign that
it allows (option use.value.labels=F) to work with the original SPSS codes while
keeping the value labels as information in an attribute. Unfortunately, after
merging or subsetting, these attributes disappear.
The code

Wishlist: install.packages to look for the newest version of a package (PR#13851)
Full_Name: Ulrike Groemping
Version: 2.9.0 (and older)
OS: Windows
Submission from: (NULL) (84.190.173.190)
When using an older version of R, packages are not found although they are
available for newer versions of R and do work when installed with the old
version. For example, installing DoE.base on R 2.8.1 installs version 0.2, while
CRAN is at version 0.4-1 currently. It would be nice if the

Wishlist: install.packages to look for the newest version (PR#13852)
Ulrike,
if you install from source, you always get the most recent version of
the package given it does not depend on a newer version of R.
If you want a binary package, you also get the newest version - that was
newest at the time we stopped building binaries for that version of R.
We (or better I if we only talk about Windows, but similar for all other
platforms) cannot build for each R

NAMESPACE and imports
I am cleaning up the rms package to not export functions not to be called
directly by users. rms uses generic functions defined in other packages.
For example there is a latex method in the Hmisc package, and rms has a
latex method for objects of class "anova.rms" so there are anova.rms and
latex.anova.rms functions in rms. I use:

Major update to package relimpo: Version 2.0
Dear userRs,
Version 2.0 of package relaimpo is on CRAN (and on my homepage with an
additional metric for non-US users). It contains several major improvements:
- usage of factors
- incorporation of interactions (for metric lmg only)
- incorporation of observation weights
- application to data from complex surveys
- processing of multiply imputed data
The latter two points are somewhat

Re: re| R-list| internal-fields
I was asked to expand on the point below

So here's a brief lecture:
One of the main purposes of objects in programming is to hide
implementation details from users.

donations / wishlist
Since some people don't like Paypal and other people have been telling
me for years to create Amazon wishlist, I figured I'd finally do it.
http://dovecot.org/donate.html now contains URL to the wishlist.
Currently it mostly contains all kinds of TV series DVDs (feel free to
laugh at what I watch :), but I also managed to remember a couple of
books I wanted.

Paypal donation or Amazon wishlist for core team?
Is there any Paypal donation or Amazon wishlist for rails core team
members?
I know programming in Ruby & Rails should be reward enough, but its
probably not a bad idea to let rails users express their appreciation in
this way.

Wishlist: axis() and line widths (PR#7223)
Full_Name: Tom Short
Version: 1.9.1
OS: Win2000 & Debian
Submission from: (NULL) (64.65.255.41)
WISHLIST:
axis() has a default parameter of "lwd = 1". I want skinnier lines as the
default. If I change the default lty, it doesn't change what axis uses.
The following code produces a graph with a box around it, but the axis lines are
twice as thick as the box around the plot, so

wishlist addition?
I didn't see this in the wishlist, but using rsync for backups as I'm
starting to do now, there's a feature that would be really cool. I
don't see it in the man page or in any of the docs online.
Basically, I'd like to see an option to modify --delete that deletes
only destination files that have been missing for over Y days. For
backups, this provides a time window on

[Wishlist] another level of logging
Hello - got a small wishlist item here:
The currently available LogLevel settings (according to the man page)
are:
QUIET, FATAL, ERROR, INFO, VERBOSE and DEBUG.
Using "INFO" causes messages about RSA key re-generation to appear in
the auth logs. However using the next-lower LogLevel of "ERROR" causes
client IP and port to not be reported in the auth logs.
I was hoping for
