Why can't I figure this out? :S
Hi, so I don't speak computer and I have no idea what this code is telling the program to do, but I apparently need to be able to find and isolate influencial observations. Problem, I have no idea what the error means and where it may be from in the code. error I get is below the code { ## OLS results NameC<- lm(gpanew~female+female:lastinit+agenew+canadian+mom_ed+yearstudy) ## default:

Ltsreg and nsamp="exact"
I'm trying to use least trimmed squares using ltsreg with nsamp="exact". When I use the following: rg <- ltsreg(x,y,nsamp="exact") I get: Error in lqs.default(x, y, nsamp = "exact", method = "lts") : NAs in foreign function call (arg 10) In addition: Warning message: NAs introduced by coercion Incidentally, there are no missings in x or y,

problems using lqs()
Dear List-members, I found a strange behaviour in the lqs function. Suppose I have the following data: y <- c(7.6, 7.7, 4.3, 5.9, 5.0, 6.5, 8.3, 8.2, 13.2, 12.6, 10.4, 10.8, 13.1, 12.3, 10.4, 10.5, 7.7, 9.5, 12.0, 12.6, 13.6, 14.1, 13.5, 11.5, 12.0, 13.0, 14.1, 15.1) x1 <- c(8.2, 7.6,, 4.6, 4.3, 5.9, 5.0, 6.5, 8.3, 10.1, 13.2, 12.6, 10.4, 10.8, 13.1, 13.3, 10.4, 10.5, 7.7, 10.0, 12.0,

Confidence Interval
I am new to R and Im some trouble with the following question... Generate 100 standard normal N(0,1) samples of size 100, X1(k),...,X100(k) where k=1,...,100 (The k is and indicie in brackets) Calculate the sample mean for each sample. For each sample mean Xbark the 0.95-confidence interval for the mean mew=0 is given by... Ik= ( Xbark plus or minus 1.96/10) Find the number of intervals such

help with memory greedy storage
Hello, I've a problem with a self written routine taking a lot of memory (>1.2Gb). Maybe you can suggest some enhancements, I'm pretty sure that my implementation is not optimal ... I'm creating many linear models and store coefficients, anova p-values ... all I need in different lists which are then finally returned in a list (list of lists). The input is a matrix with 84 rows

A combinatorial optimization problem: finding the best permutation of a complex vector
Hi, I have a complex-valued vector X in C^n. Given another complex-valued vector Y in C^n, I want to find a permutation of Y, say, Y*, that minimizes ||X - Y*||, the distance between X and Y*. Note that this problem can be trivially solved for "Real" vectors, since real numbers possess the ordering property. Complex numbers, however, do not possess this property. Hence the

mirt vs. eRm vs. ltm vs. winsteps
Dear R-List, I tried to fit a partial credit model using the "pcmdat" from eRm-package comparing the results of mirt, eRm, ltm and winsteps. The results where quite different, though. I cannot figure out what went wrong and I do not know which result I can rely on. This is what I did in R library(mirt) #load(file="u3.RData")

a question about LMS and what constitutes outliers
Hi, I have been using the lqs function with method='lms'. However the results I get are a little different from the results noted by Rousseeuw & Leroy (Robust Regression and Outlier Detection) and I was wondering how to use these results for outlier detection. I'm using the stackloss dataset, for which the original Rousseeuw et al. program points out that observations 1,2,3,4

R: mpirun .C and R
hello all i am busy testing some code that will be used for parallel computations on a Moab cluster. I have written a C++ program and am linking it with R using the .C command - this works correctly. Extracts of the r code (as well as the *.sh file) is included below. I am able to run the code successfully if I remove all of the doMPI commands. i.e. outs=.C("prog1", all of the

Sample Poisson Distribution
Hi, I'm completely new to R, I am all at sea with the interface and the confusing help files, so would appreciate some help to do a simple task. Need to present the mean and variance of 100 different samples of poisson distributions (N=1000, with fixed lambda) in a file in two columnns, and then produce histograms. So far I have figured out: > N <- 1000 > x <- rpois(N, 3.1) ,

Simple simulation in R
Hello all I have a feeling this is very simple......but I am not sure how to do it My boss has two variables, one is an average of 4 numbers, the other is an average of 3 of those numbers i.e var1 = (X1 + X2 + X3 + X4)/4 var2 = (X1 + X2 + X3)/3 all of the X variables are supposed to be measuring similar constructs not surprisingly, these are highly correlated (r = .98), the question is how

error with lme within a loop
Dear R users, I want to conduct a small simulation study and I have to use the lme function in a loop to save the restricted log likelihood. However, for one simulated data set the lme function gives this error Error en lme.formula(yboot ~ X[, -1], data = data.fr, random = Z.block) : nlminb problem, convergence error code = 1 message = singular convergence (7) and then, the

Arrays and functions
Hi, I' am doing a stats project using R to work out the size of a t-test and wilcoxon test depending on the distribution and sample size. I just can't get it to work - I want to put my results from the function size() into an array. At the moment I keep getting the error message:Error in res[distribution, test, samplesize] <- results : subscript out of boundsCan anyone tell me where

Web-driven SIP call thru Asterisk IPBX
Hi, I think that the web-driven SIP Phone (free) doddle (beta version) can be useful with your Asterisk applications. You can pre-fill it with your sip settings (Asterisk host name or IP /?realm / sip user), you just need to setup the HTML link as that: (Attached is the HTML page example) ? /**************************/ simple HTML code example: /*************************/ <html> <head>

using stimulate(model) for parametric bootstrapping in lmer repeatabilities
Hi all, I am currently doing a consistency analysis using an lmer model and trying to use parametric bootstrapping for the confidence intervals. My model is like this: model<-lmer(y~A+B+(1|C/D)+(1|E),binomial) where E is the individual level for consistency analysis, A-D are other fixed and random effects that I have to control for. Following Nakagawa and Scheilzeth I can work out the

Installing R into home directory?
I've been trying to install R into a user's home directory for them by compiling from source code, on a machine for which neither of us has administrative access. I've run configure using the --prefix option to specify their home directory. This seems to work OK up to a point, but when running make, it seems to expect to be able to install IDL into /usr/local/, and if you are unable

Soft SIP phones that support TLS - Asterisk version 13.13.1
Hello, I have a user that prefers Soft SIP phone install on his laptop, for security reasons I have enable TLS on our Asterisk server to support TLS authentication, It works well with hard phones. Has anybody in this forum use SIP Soft phones with TLS authentication enabled? Any suggestions? Thanks, Motty -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
