headerfile translation to Delphi (Pascal) completed
Hi,
I am happy to announce that I finished the translation of almost all
LGPL'ed R headerfiles to Delphi. As a test I did several demos which
basically contain delphized versions of all the examples of chapter 5
in "Writing R Extensions".
Please have a look in the attachments for details
(DemosAndHeaders.txt), more information (Readme.txt) and an example of
how it looks

NULL or NA for missing function arguments?
Hi,
I am troubled by the use of NULL or NA to indicate
missing/non-specified function arguments.
In the R code that I have looked at, it seems that both forms are used
(NULL seems to be used more often though). Sometimes both variants are
in the same declaration, e.g.
format.default <-
function(x, trim = FALSE, digits = NULL, nsmall = 0,
justify = c("left",

R.DLL mapping by P/Invoke
After a long processing, I was able to create a version of a small C# class
that was able to emulate the rproxy by P/Invoke. This is mostly to find a
workaround a performance problem of the StatConnector.
It's almost work but ... I have strange memory exception when I call the
print function. The variable seems to not survive from one call to the
other.
As there is no debug symbol for

error "variable names are limited to 256 bytes" when sourcing code
I've written a function that takes some input data output from a
simulation model and creates some graphs. It's not very complicated
code, and it works perfectly fine if I just run the code as is.
But I have converted it into a function so we call it externally, and
when I try to source the code to test the function, I get the error
message "variable names are limited to 256

Updates for xlsReadWrite (1.5.3) and xlsReadWritePro (1.6.1/3)
The xlsReadWrite[Pro] packages allow to natively read/write Excel files (.xls)
on the Win 32-bit platform.
About a week ago new package versions have been released:
* xlsReadWrite 1.5.3 is available at CRAN (for R2.11/2.12) and from
www.swissr.org/download (binary builds for R2.9 - R2.12)
* xlsReadWritePro 1.6.3 is available from www.swissr.org/download
(binary builds for R2.9 - R2.12)

Using R.dll in .NET IPC
Hi - I wrapped R.dll up using somebody code online (see below). I am comparing R on .NET IPC with R(D)COM.
I got it all working. Except, I realize that in my client code of the IPC remoting, if I call 'plot' function in R via EvaluateNoReturn, I don't seem to see any results on the R plot window (although the window pops up). Is there anything to do with the code of R.dll wrapper

R tools for large files
I'm wondering if anyone has written some functions or code for handling
very large files in R. I am working with a data file that is 41
variables times who knows how many observations making up 27MB altogether.
The sort of thing that I am thinking of having R do is
- count the number of lines in a file
- form a data frame by selecting all cases whose line numbers are in a
supplied vector

Dear Wine community,
Ubuntu 10.04
Wine 1.1.42
chandler is a great program to manage todos and we use it among collegues to assign tasks and it syncs with its own online hub perfectly. I haven't found any alternatives as good as chandler. In order to get it to work in ubuntu i have tried it via wine.
This is chandler in case you don't know it:
