type.convert (PR#13646)
Full_Name: Stefan Raberger Version: 2.8.1 OS: Windows XP Submission from: (NULL) (213.185.163.242) Hi there, I recently noticed some strange behaviour of the command "type.convert", depending on the startup mode used. But there also seems to be different behaviour on different PCs (all running the same OS and the same version of R). On PC1: When I start R in SDI mode (RGui --no-save

(PR#7277) Re: strange windows behaviour after changing
I can reproduce this in MDI. Another clue is that as the pager for ?merge is opened, the font in the console changes. The console is still working: commands you type in it are accepted. So the issue appears to be that the font in use has been changed incorrectly (and it seems that the C code thinks it has been changed in the preferences dialog). Minor GUI Issues
Some minor request for the R on Windows (2000) GUI version. I'm using 1.5.1 with the SDI interface. (1) When minimized, the main R window and the graphics window show as two copies of the same icon. That makes it less convenient to switch among tasks in Windows, as I often select the wrong one. Could they have different icons in the future, please? (2) I use a fixed-width Type 1 font

Bug in setting GUI to SDI mode?
Hi I did a google search on this and came up with nothing. OK, in the latest release of R for windows, I want to change the gui to SDI mode. Edit -> GUI preferences Choose SDI Apply I get the message about properties not being able to be changed on a running console, and that I need to save. So I click Save, and am met with a "Save As" dialogue box with the default file called

changing dir. to network drive crash Rgui on NT4 ( PR#282 8)
This is interesting: The crash does not happen if I run Rgui in MDI mode. The crash seemed to only occur in SDI. Andy =========================================================== For the record: Under Rgui, using the menu "File / Channge dir..." to change to a network drive crashes rgui. The crash happens if I browse to a folder on a mapped drive. I.e., if I type in

Memory leakage?
Hi, all: I'm using R 1.7.0 on WinXP under SDI mode. However, very often after I closed all R windows, my CPU usage was still 100%. By checking the task manager, I found there are one or several "Rgui.exe" still running and took all the CPU. I had to close them one by one manually. This happened to me with R 1.6.1, R 1.6.2 also and also on Win2K. Rememeber there was a

winedt (PR#1033)
i don't know, whether this is a bug or it is intended: when using winedt and R together it works perfectly, as long as R is run in mdi (multiple window mode). When you switch to sdi (single window mode) winedt, sends no command at all: no history, paste, source or script. Thomas Pesl > version _ platform i386-pc-mingw32 arch x86 os Win32

Weird Windows startup menu display problem in 1.7.0 (PR#2817)
Folks: Winnt; R1.7.0 (freshly installed) running under Rgui.exe.,MDI=yes. The following is repeatable: On startup, in my Rprofile.site file, I use winMenuAdd() etc. to install some user menus. However, they do not appear when R GUI window opens. If I minimize and restore the window, the added menus now are present. The exact same procedure under 1.6.2 with exactly the same Rprofile.site and

lines don't wrap. must scroll horizontally to see/edit a long line in R GUI
I'm facing this problem on R GUI version 2.10.0 on Windows Vista. I have not changed Windows settings or R GUI settings much except to change from MDI to SDI. Someone else reported this problem a few months ago: https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-help/2009-April/195714.html but it wasn't followed up. I'd change the settings on Preferences, but there's no help explaining the

SDI support works correctly (sdi.c32)
Hi, As I have not seen any confirmation yet on the list, I just wanted to let you know that sdi.c32 works fine here, at least as fine as my initial syslinux-2.11 asm patch. I only use XPe SDI images with the following structure (of course PART blob size can vary): Type Offset Size Base Address Attr ---- ------------------- -------------------

R-WinEdt question - answer
The answer to my question was contained in http://cran.r-project.org/contrib/extra/winedt/ReadMe , although it helped to receive the restatements that were emailed to me. As mentioned by Uwe Ligges, Renuad Lancelot, Niels Waller, my mistake was not starting R before using R-WindEdt. Below I will copy the instructions on using R-WinEdt by Renaud Lancelot (except for the last paragraph which is

A pre-release of R-0.64.1 for Windows is available at CRAN/bin/windows/windows-NT/pre-0.64.1. Since there are a lot of Windows specific changes (see below for a list), we hope that many Windows users of R will test this version and make comments. REMARK: I am posting this message on r-help hoping to reach a larger number of Windows users. But, please, replay or directly to Brian D. Ripley

patch: SDI Xpe images support for pxelinux
Hi, I added support in pxelinux for SDI (Wndows XP embedded images) files a few time ago for specific needs. It works well (at least for me atm) and I think I can now submit it to this list. I get a very good improvement in speed over the traditional way of loading SDI images. * Links : The 'diff -urN' patch for syslinux-2.11 (documentation included) :

after identify labels dissapear XP
Greetings: Using 'identify' to label points on a plot works just fine. However, when saving under 'metafile' or using the clipboard the labels dissapear. I believe it's an SDI issue. I am running last R with last Tinn-r under XP up to date. Anything I can do besides going back to MDI :-)? Thanks, Mihai Nica, ABD Jackson State University ITT Tech Instructor 170 East Griffith
