If you are using a Windows system, you can Export the plot from RStudio and save it as a metafile without using package devEMF and it will crop the bars with xpd=FALSE. When I used devEMF on a Windows machine, the bars were not cropped with barplot() as you indicated, but when I switched to plotrix::barp() they were cropped. The arguments are a bit different, but I did not need xpd=FALSE:

Thank you David, That's a nice workaround using plotrix::barp(), but that doesn't explain why ylim doesn't work as intended (or at least, as I expect it to work), or why xpd has no influence when using devEMF::emf()... Spacing of text does not match spacing of bars in barplot
I have a very standard barplot. My labels are too long to be printed horizontally under each bar, so I am using text to put the labels on a 45 degree slant. Drawing a rectangle around a barplot()
Hi I want to draw a rectangle behind a barplot such that it highlights those particular bars from the rest of the plot. I have figured out how to draw a barplot(), and then how to draw a rectangle of the correct shape and size (using rect()), but when I use rect() it draws over the top of the bars, and then when I re-draw the bars, it draws with a white background, thus eliminating my rectangle!

Hi, I couldn't find how to have the values written on the top of each bar in a barplot. When using hist(), it is possible to use labels=T, but this option does not seem to exist for barplot(). Is there a trick I could use to do that ? Thanks to all Luc
