Exponential smoothing?
An r hel search picks up http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/help/01a/1162.html from 2001, which points towards the ts package. >>> ?hagen Patrik <Patrik.Ohagen at mpa.se> 19/08/2008 09:00:12 >>> Dear List, I have used all my resources (i.e. "help.search) and I still havn't been able to figure out if there is an Exponential Smoothing command in R. smooth non cumulative baseline hazard in Cox model
Hi everyone. There's been several threads on baseline hazard in Cox model but I think they were all on cumulative baseline hazard, for instance http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/help/01a/0464.html http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/help/01a/0436.html "basehaz" in package survival seems to do a cumulative hazard. extract from the basehaz function: sfit <- survfit(fit) H

Bundle internal dependencies
Dear all, When creating a bundle with some internal dependencies (package B in bundle depends on package A), would having the same version installed suffice? Can I ignore the dependencie in package B's description? The test of package B fails when calling data() for an object in pacakge A, so I am not sure right now whether the whole dependencie is not being met or simple relates to data().

passing character vectors to FORTRAN
Hi, I've been trying to pass a character vector from R to a FORTRAN subroutine. There have been several posts discussing this issue (e.g. http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/help/98a/0547.html, http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/help/05/10/13558.html, http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/help/01a/2577.html, http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/help/01c/1795.html,

Compilation error on mgcv_1.1-7 on OS X (10.3)
Greetings I run into a compilation error when updating to mgcv_1.1-7 in R 2.0.0 on OS X 10.3. Note that other pacakges have compiled nicely. Some details are given below, but in short it looks like it's seeking for /usr/local/lib/powerpc-apple-darwin6.8/3.4.2/ which I don't have. But I do have /usr/lib/gcc/darwin/3.3 i.e a lower version of GCC in a different directory. More

R "sumo" package suggestion
r-help: I have an R package suggestion. After spending several hours the other day installing about a dozen packages, I had an idea. In xemacs, there is a "sumo" package which allows me to install a large bundle of xemacs packages at one time (about a 120 modes including ESS). I think R should have a similar bundle. It would be so much easier than hunting/downloading/installing.

glmm
Hello, I would like to fit generalized linear mixed models but I did not find the package allowing such procedure. R help under nlme package gives me "glmmPQL(MASS)" but this file does not appear in contributed packages. Thanks in advance for your answer. Recommended way to call/import functions from a Suggested package
If in my package "Foo" I call a function from another package "Bar" if it's available, according to R-exts, this sounds like I should include "Suggests: Bar" in package Foo's description. But the manual is silent on how to treat Bar's namespace. Should I import it? If so, should this be conditional or unconditional? There is a thread from 2008 in which

Moving from compiled to packages
I understand about using the newer binaries, but what I really want to "save" is the active directory. Sorry I should have been clear. I do not want to have to rejoin/recreate everything. Thanks. Creating windows binary R package (PowerArchiver vs. zip -r9X)
Hi list,I apologize if you see funny fonts, b/c I'm using the new Windows Live Hotmail and don't know how to turn off the "rich text" mode.....I have successfully built and installed a R package in windowsXP for R-2.5.1. But when I tried to create a .zip file so I can use "Packages/install package(s) from local .zip files..." to install it, it seems R only recognizes

Graphical table in R
I would like R to produce some tabulated data in a graphical output. When I say tabulated data, what I mean is a table with rows and columns. This would be useful when reading in a big file, performing some analysis on it, and then wanting to display the results as a table. Something like plot(x,...) where x is a matrix For example, the result could look (approximatly) like...

TextMate: syncPEOPLE on Rails Bundle Becomes Built-in Rails Bundle
It?s official, folks! After talking with my partner, Greg Narain, as well as Allan Odgaard, the creator of TextMate, we (syncPEOPLE) have decided to release our Rails bundle under the MIT license so that it can nest itself nicely within its new home, the TextMate Subversion Bundle Repository. What this means for the rest of us is that all of these great features we?ve been madly

Survey of "moving window" statistical functions - still looking f or fast mad function
Hi, First, let me thank Jaroslaw for making this survey. I find it quite illuminating. Now the questions: * the #1 solution below (based on cumsum) is numerically unstable. Specifically if you do the runmean on a positive vector you can easily get negative numbers due to rounding errors. Does anyone see a modification which is free of this deficiency? * is it possible to optimize the

dnf-makecache.service failing every few days and dnf-automatic.service samba freeipa issues (again).
Hello everybody, What is the status of the freeipa/sssd and samba conflicts in the repositories? I can not wrap my mind around that two big packages are not getting security updates anymore, because they are conflicting. I will go to FOSDEM in Belgium this year to figure out more, but I am considering moving my centos systems to rockylinux. Kind regards, Jelle de Jong On 12/16/22 16:59,
