%f bug in --out-format, patch for 2.6.9 ? (better mail formating)
Hello, I'm experiencing various output bugs using --out-format with %f in rsync 2.6.9 I test it with rsync 2.6.9-2 and 2.6.9-3 in debian etch, running both in deamon and client mode on the same host. This bug seems to be known by the developer as said in http://samba.anu.edu.au/ftp/unpacked/rsync/NEWS : NEWS for rsync 3.0.0 (UNRELEASED) Protocol: 30 (changed) Changes since 2.6.9: BUG

Problem with S3 to S4 transition
Hello to everybody I am developing a package using R and have the following problem: I used to work in a mixture of S3 and S4 mechanism environment: as a matter of fact, I used to define my classes (say "DB" for illustration) using the setClass function (with representation field), and I was using the S3 implicit mechanism writing the functions: print.DB and plot.DB. Recently, I

Some more help on S4 mechanism
Hello to the list Some days ago, I placed a question on this maling-list and received an answer from Martin that I tried to follow. Unfortunately, I am still puzzled by the next step. I spent the whole Week-end in gathering information from the net. Some of them are almost contridtcory and I lack a good document to help me. So my first question would beL Is there a convenient document which

Possible bug in Rcons_vprintf
In R-2-4-branch r39548, Rcons_vprintf is called from stdout_vfprintf when R_Outputfile is NULL. When called and output is greater than R_BUFSIZE, output is truncated to R_BUFSIZE. Here's a one-line fix: Index: src/main/printutils.c =================================================================== --- src/main/printutils.c (revision 39548) +++ src/main/printutils.c (working

R + Linux Ubuntu 10.10
Hi everyone, I've just installed Linux (K)Ubuntu 10.10 as well as R and I'm stuck with a very annoying problem. I've compiled the latest R version from the sources without any problem, sadly when I start R in a terminal, it does not behave as expected. In fact, I cannot use the arrow keys (up, down, left, right) because they are automatically replaced with things like ^[[A I have no

Catching warning and error output
Hi all, I'm working on a GUI frontend for R, and I'm looking for a good way to catch all warning- and error-output. The reason for this is mostly, that I would like to know, which sections of the output are "normal" output, warnings, and errors. This would allow for some nice features, such as highlighting warnings and errors in a different color, or popping up a message

Plot window does not update in embedded code
Dear list, I am trying to embed R into a C++ program. After some tinkering, reading the documentation and browsing the source code I have this more or less working. A very very condensed and very simplified version of the code is included below. The program can create plots. However, after the plot is initially drawn it is no longer updated. When scaling or updating the plot the window becomes

RFC: API to allow identification of warnings and errors in the output stream
Dear R developers, this mail is basically a summary / clarification of some previous mails I sent to this list last week (subject "Catching warning and error output"). Duncan Murdoch pointed out that these were badly organized, and suggested I repost, collecting the main points previously spread out between several mails. Problem statement: In an application embedding R, I would

R-beta: R with gnuwin32
I have been using R under Linux for more than a year and I think that it is great. Last week, I downloaded the binary Ms Windows version. I wanted to test it for my students. Our labs are under Bill Gates. I am not happy but I can do nothing. R worked. But, I could not use the dyn.load command with some dll built with one of the ports of gcc for windows 95/nt (I used the ecgs-mingw32 ports

Automated figure production
Hello, everybody Two questions: 1) I am new to maillists, and particularly to r-help maillist. Where specifically do I go online to see my question and answers to it??? If I use the searchable archives, or archives by Robert King, I see my question but not the answers, though I know that at least one persion posted the answer to r-help. Why do not I see the answers? 2) I need to produce 104

Trouble debugging with gdb, R on Windows
I'm trying to follow the example in the R for Windows FAQ on running gdb and am getting stuck because gdb tells me "Cannot access memory at address ...". Here's what my gdb session looks like (This one from a cygwin shell, but same results from plain Windows CMD shell): $ cd R-devel/src/gnuwin32 $ gdb ../../bin/Rgui.exe GNU gdb 5.2.1 Copyright 2002 Free Software Foundation,

Using split() several times in a row?
Hi, fellow R users. I have a question about sapply and split combination. I have a big dataframe (40000 observations, 21 variables). First variable (factor) is "date" and it is in format "8.29.97", that is, I have monthly data. Second variable (also factor) has levels 1 to 6 (fractiles 1 to 5 and missing value with code 6). The other 19 variables are numeric. For each month I

use dyn.load to redefine R internal fns?
I would like to redefine some R print functions (Rprintf for example) so that they don't print to stdout, but save the output in a global string array. I can compile and link my definition of Rprintf into a library and load it with dyn.load. I don't get an error message, but afterwards the original function is still valid, my new version isn't executed. Is there a way to change R

non-interactive R_tryEval does not return
...at least I think that is what happens, at least on some configurations. Here's a repeatable example: cd R_HOME/tests/Embedding touch tmp.R make tryEval and then (correct) > ./tryEval --slave Error in sqrt("") : Non-numeric argument to mathematical function Caught an error calling sqrt(). Try again with a different argument. [1] 3 versus (non-interactive; no return) >
