Well, I'm finally getting around to setting up a cross-compiler for Windows on my local Linux box. I'm using the Yan & Rossini's docuimentation and the latest 'http://cran.r-project.org/doc/contrib/Makefile-rcb' , which is working of the R-2.2.0 sources. After discovering that "cp -p" doesn't work on the filesystem I'm using and removing the

Proposal: 'global' package refactoring
Looking over the contents of various packages, including my own, it is clear that lots of things end up 'hidden away' in packages where they don't belong. My gregmisc package is a particularly egregious example, containing something from almost every functional category. I propose that from time to time the R community go through the complete set of packages and 'refactor'

"Namespace dependencies not required" message
I'm still working to add namespace support to some of my packages. I've removed the 'Depends' line from the DESCRIPTION file, and created an appropriate NAMESPACE files. Strangely, whenever I use 'importFrom(package, function)' R CMD check generates "Namespace dependencies not required" warnings . Without the import statements, the warning does not occur, but

install.packages and bundles
Hi All, Since I changed the gregmisc package into a bundle, I almost daily questions asking how to get the individual packages contained in the bundle. The standard example arises when someone attempts to install and then use my 'genetics' package which depends on the 'gdata' package contained within the 'gregmisc' bundle. The install succedes, but when the user does
