Time-measurement in milliseconds
Hi there
I'm loking for a time-measurement to measure time-differences in
milliseconds.
On my search, I only found the following:
- package "base": Sys.time()
-> only second-accuracy
- package "R.utils": System$currentTimeMillis()
-> returns integer of milliseconds, but accuracy is only whole
seconds too.
At the moment I run every bit of code to measure

[LLVMdev] Optimization on Atomics (and the OpenMP memory model)
Hi everyone,
The OpenMP standards committee has begun work to formalize their memory model, and define its relationship to the C/C++ memory models. A questionnaire has been put together (pasted below), and I'd like everyone's help in composing detailed answers to inform their decision-making process. While our OpenMP support is still in active development, many of these questions apply

OpenMP problem with 64-bit Rtools
I've been getting pqR to work on windows systems, and in the process
have discovered various problems with R core versions of R and with
Rtools.
One is with the implementation of OpenMP in 64-bit Rtools. This
problem is in Rtools215 and Rtools33, and presumably all the ones in
between. You can see the problem with the following test program:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <omp.h>

must .Call C functions return SEXP?
For using R's .Call interface to C functions, all the examples I've
seen have the C function return type SEXP. Why? What does R actually
do with this return type? What happens if I *don't* return a SEXP?
Reason I ask, is I've written some R code which allocates two long
lists, and then calls a C function with .Call. My C code writes to
those two pre-allocated lists, thus, I

special handling of row.names
Hello,
I think there is an inconsistency in the handling of the compact form of the row.names attributes.
When n is the number of rows of a data.frame, the compact form is c(NA_integer_,-n), as in:
> d <- data.frame(x=1:10)
> .Internal(inspect(d))

get errors when doing a tar backup of a windows server with linux smbclient
Hello all,
We have a script that does a nightly backup of a windows server to a linux
fileserver. The linux system uses smbclient to make a tarball of the share.
I get this error when running smbclient:

Self heal problem
Hi,
I have a glusterfs volume replicated on three nodes. I am planing to use
the volume as storage for vMware ESXi machines using NFS. The reason for
using tree nodes is to be able to configure Quorum and avoid
split-brains. However, during my initial testing when intentionally and
gracefully restart the node "ned", a split-brain/self-heal error
occurred.

Setting the names attribute of a list?
Hello,
I have created a vector with 2 elements(see code below)
I am calling this function many thousands of times (hundreds of
thousands) after some time
i get
*** caught segfault ***
address 0x5, cause 'memory not mapped'
However, if i dont set the R_NamesSymbol, I do not get any such error.
Am I doing this correctly?
Thank you

ALTREP wrappers and factors
Hello,
I?m experimenting with ALTREP and was wondering if there is a preferred way to create an ALTREP wrapper vector without using .Internal(wrap_meta(?)), which R CMD check doesn?t like since it uses an .Internal() function.
I was trying to create a factor that used an ALTREP integer, but attempting to set the class and levels attributes always ended up duplicating and materializing the

using C code to create data frame but always return as list
there is my code, expect return value is a data frame but R say it is list:

SEXP ans,names,rownames;
char evalcmd[4096];
int i;
const char* dfname="DataFrameName0tmp";
jl_set_global(jl_main_module, jl_symbol(dfname), (jl_value_t*)Var);
//Get Frame cols

allocVector reference
Hi,
I'm trying to write a function to return an R vector which points
directly to a contiguous subset of another vector, without taking a
copy. Since SEXPREC is a header followed by the data, rather than the
header plus a pointer to the data, I'm not sure what I'm trying to do is
possible. Is there a way of doing this? Similar in spirit to how the R
assignment "x=y" does

appdynamics php agent prevented by SELinux
Hey guys,
I've got another C7 problem I was hoping to solve. I
installed appdynamics-php-agent-4.0.5.0-1.x86_64 on a C7.1 host.
It's failing to communicate with it's controller on another host. And this
is the interesting part. Whether or not I have SELinux enabled, I have
apache reporting SELinux problems.

I'm confused by this:

Yet, after loading the Matrix package (which redefines det), the
following is checked (in library.checkConflicts):

I've looked at the code in identical.c and for closures it

Don't use .local
Sending to you without the mailinglist is on the same level as proper
administration of a network ? This is new to me and I'm sure to others
too.
What might be new to you is that Avahi runs on the domain it finds and
not what it expects. That is how the protocol works, it searches, sees
the domain of the protocol and goes on. So all Avahi users in a
network will run on .alocal is you set the

Specifically, the srcfile attribute of the srcref attribute of the two
instances of the functions contain different environments, AFAICT.
Environments are compared only by exact pointer, so this forces return

Safe to UNPROTECT() when object is assigned to a list?
Hi,
I'm troubleshooting some native code on Windows that very occationally
(and semi-randomly) crashes R. Already looked at "everything", I just
want to double check that it is safe to UNPROTECT() allocated
variables as soon as they are assigned to, say, a PROTECTed list.

Don't use .local
I'm not missing the point, the point is that you actually cannot tell
why .local should stay local always and forever. That's my point, you
don't know either as you ask yourself already, "why should I config
Avahi myself ?". Indeed stay in control of your network or stay out.

ALTREP wrappers and factors
Hi Jiefei and Kylie,
Great to see people engaging with the ALTREP framework and identifying
places we may need more tooling. Comments inline.
