Creating GUIs for R
Hi all,
I have looked around for help on creating GUIs for R, but haven't found
anything. I would be interested in any advice or webpages that have
information on the best language, tutorials etc. for creating simple GUIs.
Mainly I want to do this as a heuristic exercise.
Thanks for any help.

Lazy loading... advices
Hello,
I am looking for more information about lazy loading introduced in R 2.0.0.
Doing
?lazyLoad
I got some and there is a 'see also' section that points to
'makeLazyLoading'... But I cannot reach this page.
My problem is: I recompiled a library that uses a lot of functions from
other libraries (of course I can give details if needed). I load it in my
computer: library(svGUI),

wxWidgets 2.5
I''ve just gotten wxruby-swig to compile with wxWidgets 2.5 on Mac OS X.
Thankfully, it mostly consists of getting rid of already depricated
methods from the widget classes. I need to try with Linux and Win32, but
it should be a smooth transition.

New Wiki Page
Hey guys,
I just added a new wiki page that lists all the widgets and classes in the
wxWidgets toolkit. It shows which of the widgets we have available in the
current binding of wxRuby, 0.2.1. I''m pretty sure that I got everything,
although I haven''t tested it out exhaustively, its just a first start. You
can see it at

wxruby-swig progress report
Hey everybody,
I''ve made some progress on wxruby-swig, and have some good news and some bad
news.
The good news is that the MSVC version finally can run all of the samples provided in
CVS. I''m using the same solve-by-ignore solution to the GC problem that wxruby uses,
so there is far less crashing goin'' on. Depending on the next few weeks, we might be
able to

Best R text editors?
Quick informal poll: what is everyone's favorite text editor for working
with R? I'd like to hear from people who are using editors that have
some level of direct R interface (e.g. Tinn-R, Komodo+SciViews). Thanks!

Feedback about SciViews?
Hello,
This message is little off-topic in R-help. Sorry for that, but not all
interested people are wired yet to r-sig-gui
(http://www.stat.math.ethz.ch/mailman/listinfo/r-sig-gui). Thanks for your
comprehension.
A preview version of SciViews (a Graphical User Interface for R under
Windows, http://www.sciviews.org) was released a few weeks ago. Since then,
the Web site recorded several

R GUI for Linux?
Hello all,
I noticed that both Windows and OS X version of R have a GUI
(Rconsole). Is there a GUI for Linux? I'm running Debian on which
the CLI for R works just fine.

version numbering
Hi
Seems a lot of people are still downloading 0.6.0 and using it - my
concern is that people will find it buggy and incomplete and give up on
wxruby altogether.
I think we''ve got wxruby2 to a point where it''s all round better than
the old series, even though it''s not release quality, and we''re missing
the DnD classes.
So for the next release,

need gui matrix editor: does R Core team have advice on how?
Dear R-devel:
Would R core team consider endorsing a graphical toolkit and trying to
facilitate development of little GUI tools?
I need a gui matrix editor for users that want to be able to write
matrices that are later used to simulate data. Instead of teaching
them to write a covariance matrix (for example, for mvtnorm), I want
to tell them run a function that pops up a table they can fill

[Fwd: Re: How to activate the R commands in SciViews]
Well.. plans are there from a long time to rewrite SciViews completely
and make it platform independent (to work on Linux/Unix and MacOS X, as
well as Windows). I have done some work in this direction when time
permitted, but I am pretty busy with other work. During the holidays, I
will continue to work in this direction. I will try to package a first
running version of SciViews compatible with

SciViews and Tinn-R installation problem
Hello,
I have just installed R 2.7.0 and re-installed SciViews 0.8-9 and Tinn-R
1.19.4.7 and seem to have broken something along the way as follows.
I double-click on my current .RData file in the Windoze explorer, R
Console and Tinn-R load successfully (?).
I can list objects in my working directory with ls() but, when I attempt
to refresh any list in the R explorer tab of the Tools child

R and DDE (Dynamic Data Exchange)
R and DDE (Dynamic Data Exchange)
Dear Rusers,
I run an application (not mine) which acts as a DDE server.
I would like to use R to get data from this application,
say once per minute, and do some processing on it.
I didn't find much info on the R DDE abilities, apart the tcltk2
package in which I will try to go deeper.
I would be very thankful for any info, pointer or advice about the

extractxml.rb
Hello again,
I''m noticing that many of the headers in swig/classes/include have the
comment:
// This file was automatically generated
// by extractxml.rb, part of the wxRuby project
// Do not make changes directly to this file!
Is this still the case, or was this just a one-time conversion? 228
out of 441 files in that directory don''t have the comment.
I ask this because

SciViews-R_0.8-9 Console problem
Dear R users,
I successfully installed SciViews the other day. However, when I try to
run it now, the command/script window does not appear. Strange. Well,
actually I see a tendency to a script window (in the lower part of the
sciview window where it is suppose to be) during start up, but when the
program is entirely open, the script window is gone.
I have tried to uninstall and reinstall
