Fortran 95 in R ?
Is it possible to run Fortran 95 code from R? I don't think so, but hopefully someone can prove me wrong. Here is the test I tried: A little fortran 95 subroutine: subroutine allloc() real, dimension(:, :), allocatable :: a integer :: n n = 10 allocate(a(n,n+1)) end I then compiled: >g95 -c allloc.f >R CMD SHLIB allloc.o Here is what happens when I try to dyn.load it in R 2.1.0

using src/Makevars file
Hi all, Thanks to all who offered advice on using F95 in R. Now I'm trying to compile a test package using gfortran, Linux 2.4.21 and R 2.1.0. I was able to successfully compile and use a test F95 routine by setting my environment variables as follows in bash: export PATH=~/bin/:$PATH export F77=gfortran export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=~/bin/irun/lib export GFORTRAN_STDIN_UNIT=-1 Now I'm

simple addition in R, now fast & easy!
At last, simple addition in R is now fast and easy!!! They said it could never be done, but they've never heard of Fortran. In order to add two numbers in R before you had to type: > 7 + 3 It was tedious to type and several hours could pass as you waited for your return value. So, imagine the excitement around your lab or office when you type in:

RCurl: using netrc with curlPerform
Hello, I am having trouble getting the curlPerform function to authenticate using the .netrc file. From the documentation I've read it certainly seems as though this function should be able to authenticate via the .netrc file. The example I am using here comes from the "R as a Web Client- the RCurl package" paper and demonstrates using the .netrc file to access the

mac osx, g95 package port problem
Hi all, I have a working package for linux, including fortran 95 code compiled with g95, that I need to port to OS X. The package works on Linux and seems to load on the Mac, but when I try to run a function that calls C or Fortran I'm told that the symbol is not loaded. I'm developing via a shell account on an OS X system, I don't have access to a desktop. The set up is: R

Writing Reports from R in Microsoft Office Open XML format (follow-up)
Dear Duncan and other R users, The department in which I work will soon make some decisions to improve our reporting. Since I hope that our solution will support R and Sweave-like functionality (otherwise it wouldn't be an improvement....), I hope it's ok to repeat my question back from June if there are any news on an odfWeave-like package for weaving Microsoft Word documents? (in the

Homogeneity of regression slopes
Hello, We've got a dataset with several variables, one of which we're using to split the data into 3 smaller subsets. (as the variable takes 1 of 3 possible values). There are several more variables too, many of which we're using to fit regression models using lm. So I have 3 models fitted (one for each subset of course), each having slope estimates for the predictor variables.

Error Message - Error: symbol print-name too long
Dear All, I write to ask for information regarding the error message: Error: symbol print-name too long. I am afraid that I can't include any code to help with any further diagnosis of the problem as the code is far too long to be of any use, and I have not been able to re-create the problem in shorter example codes. I have searched the R manual and help pages and found no mention of

Compiling "R Embedded" examples
Hi, This question was first posted wrongly on R-help. Apologize for the inconvenience. I am working at a major financial institution and we would like to embed R in one of our front office application. The application is written in C/C++ so I started by trying to compile the examples in "tests/Embedding" of R 2.0.1. I have modified "tests/Embedding/Makefile" according to

Installing SJava (I'm almost there, just a little more help please!....please!)
Hi. Day three and I’m still struggling with this. Any advice to overcome the final hurdle will be enormously appreciated. I now have all the right Java applications etc. in their right places and have managed to get rid of most errors but still get this: — Making package SJava — Building JNI header files... adding build stamp to DESCRIPTION running src/Makefile.win (cd .. ;

dyn.load (PR#9364)
Full_Name: Jonathan Tuke Version: 2.4.0 OS: Mac OS X 10.4.8 Submission from: (NULL) (203.173.46.189) I am writing C code to implement in R. I am using R CMD SHLIB and then dyn.load("file.so"). The function I then call with .C("function"). Since I installed the latest R version, I have found that if I alter my C code and recompile, then use dyn.load("file.so"), the

[PATCH mesa 0/3] tgsi and nouveau global / local / opencl-input mem support
Hi, Here are patches which implement the support for OpenCL kernel input parameters we discussed. They also add the tgsi parsing bits for adding support for global / local mem, but no implementation yet. Regards, Hans

Simulation of a particular type of population
Does anyone have any R code or suggestions on how to generate a population that follows a Neyman-Scott process? More specifically, I'd like to randomly generate both the parents and the children from Poisson distributions and the children locations from a bivariate normal onto an N by N grid. If the locations spill over outside the grid, then I'd like to reflect those locations back into

.Call not counting parameters consistently (PR#8450)
The R_registerRoutines C function allows the number of parameters to a .Call function to be registered. For example, the tools package function md5sum() calls "Rmd5", which has been registered to require just one parameter. But if it is called with the wrong number of parameters, only the first error gets caught: > library(tools) >

[LLVMdev] Hooking the global symbol resolver
Hi Jonathan, In the context of a static compiler, I would recommend that you implement your own “on the side” symbol table in order to track this state and perform on-demand instantiation as required. It is worthwhile to consider the LLVM module to be a passive output sink, not an active object. The JIT compiler, by contrast, is an active object, cooperating with its environment via

Scraping a web page.
Folks, I want to scrape a series of web-page sources for strings like the following: "/en/Ships/A-8605507.html" "/en/Ships/Aalborg-8122830.html" which appear in an href inside an <a> tag inside a <div> tag inside a table. In fact all I want is the (exactly) 7-digit number before ".html". The good news is that as far as I can tell the the <a>
