Re: Calling R functions from Java (D0c)
Hello kanglin:
Try to transfer from Java Object JList to R Object Data.frame, you
could use
public Rconnection r_connection = null;
.....
.....
this.r_connection.assign("dataframe_ex",java list_ex);

/bin/windows/base/rpatched.html page out of date
Dear all,
it looks like that something is wrong with the
/bin/windows/base/rpatched.html page as it seems pointing to the

Also, I do not know if it is relevant but notice the dates of the

Re: [Omega-help] RSPython_0.3.0 on FreeBSD 4.*:
Thanks for your help Duncan. Your last comment helped me to figure
out what FreeBSD was doing differently than Linux/Solaris. This fix worked
on a machine with Python 2.1, R 1.3.1 and FreeBSD 4.1. Here are the
details:
The pthreads fix: I added '-lc_r' to the PKG_LIBS definition in
src/Makevars.in. The FreeBSD 'man pthread' page suggests that adding
-pthread to the gcc statement

R-0.64.0 Install - Cannot find eda.so
Hi,
I'm new to R. I'm trying to install R-0.64.0 on FreeBSD 2.2.8 (also
new to FreeBSD). First, I run ./configure and then make. Make gives me
an error message because it cannot find "eda.so" when trying to link
it with line.o and smooth.o (see output below).
I would appreciate it if somone could help me to fix this error. Thanks.

Windows binaries: Version and revision strings show "(2006-00-00 r00000)"
FYI,
for the last few revision the version string for both R v2.14.0
patched and R devel are not correct for the Windows binaries. This is
what R --version and sessionInfo() report since a couple of days:
R version 2.14.0 Patched (2006-00-00 r00000)
R Under development (unstable) (2006-00-00 r00000)
Also, "r00000" is listed as the revision on:

Summary: Archetypal Analysis in R
I previously asked a question about performing archetypal analyis in
R. In addition to the responses I received from r-help, the author
sent me some S code to peform the analysis. With the author's
permission, I ported the S code to R using two excellent sets of
instructions:
(1) From the FAQ - 5.5 How can I create an R package?
(2) Thomas Lumley's instructions on porting S to R -

Archetypal Analysis in R
Is a library available for R that includes algorithms for something
called "archetypal analysis," a method similar to principal components
analysis that is designed to find "archetypes" or "pure types" from
multidimensional data. I have contacted one of the authors who has
written about archetypal analysis but thought I'd check here
also. Thanks.

Introduction
Hello Syslinux users,
I just wanted to introduce myself as Loren Hudson, and I work for The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College as a System Administrator. I have been using 3com PXE menu's for 3 years now and recently upgraded myself to pushing a pxelinux menu instead of the dull 3com menu's. I will post back with an issue I been having in a separate e-mail. This email is mainly

Application Options
I am trying to execute a program under rh 7.2 with an application switch
'/'. Though the documentation states this is possible I have been
unable to execute with success.
I have tried many escape variations for the slash but that has not
worked either.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

R patched for Windows missing
R patched for Windows seems to be missing. If one clicks on
R-2.2.0pat-win32.exe at, say,
http://stat.ethz.ch/CRAN/bin/windows/base/rpatched.html
then an error occurs. I tried it at several mirror sites with the same
result. The web page in question says:
This directory contains a Windows binary build of R including patches
up to 2005-10-24.

Patched R build available today is missing some info (data and release number)
Hi all,
The R version 2.14.0 Pacthed build from today, including patches up to
2011-11-20, is showing the following when started up :
R version 2.14.0 Patched (2006-00-00 r00000)
...
Isn't something missing here, like a correct date and a release
number? On the page
http://cran.r-project.org/bin/windows/base/rpatched.html the release
number is r00000 as well.
Cheers
Joris

Attn Heinz Tuechler: Re: problem with special characters (ä,ö,ü)
[I tried to send this message privately, but the return address
bounced.]
I think this has been fixed in R-patched, but I doubt if the fix has
been tested in Win98. Could you please download a copy from
<http://cran.r-project.org/bin/windows/base/rpatched.html> and confirm
that it has been fixed?

Is it solve.QP or is it me?
Hi.
Here are three successive examples of simple quadratic programming problems
with the same structure. Each problem has 2*N variables, and should have a
solution of the form (1/N,0,1/N,0,...,1/N,0). In these cases, N=4,5,6. As
you will see, the N=4 and 6 cases give the expected solution, but the N=5
case breaks down.

mem.tally.* in R
I'd like to use the resources() function described on p. 151-152 of S
Programming by Venables and Ripley (2000), but I don't have access
to S and don't know whether R's memory functions (e.g., gc()) can be used
instead of mem.tally.reset() and mem.tally.report(). In order to
implement the resources() function in R, should I look for the
C source for these S functions and wrap them

ntlm_auth fails to find PDC on same computer
I am trying to get ntlm_auth working for Authentication against the

Windows clients have no trouble logging into the domain. Running

Windows/7706 (PR#7889)
With 2.1 on Windows XP SP2 (32 bit) I also get no title in a png plot, so I
can reproduce this bug. R is installed from pre-built binary.
No title appears when I run this:
png("foo.png")
plot(1:10, main = "foo")
dev.off()
The jpeg device behaves as expected:
jpeg("foo.jpg")
plot(1:10, main = "foo")
dev.off()
Thoughts on this?

Samba LDAP Tools
I am looking for some good tools to manage Samba users in LDAP. It
looks like there are several good tools mentioned on the Samba Wiki, but
I am concerned mostly with the proper addition of new users to LDAP, in
particular, generating unique SIDs. smbldap-useradd, for example,
generates the SIDs for primary user and group based off of a simple
formula based on the UID and GID, whereas Samba
