Collade doesn't work for more than 256 files!
Last week I managed to automatically wrap over 600 C++ classes into R in less than 24 hours. It was not because I am an expert in R programming, it was simply because I wrapped the classes as S3. Not only the wrapping process was easy, but also installation process and loading the final library was fast too. Now I am also trying to do the wrapping into the 'modern' S4 classes. This

Limitations of generic functions
(1) Assume we have some automatic C++ wrapper which , briefly, reads the C++ files and generates some R files in which the equivalent of the C++ classes are reconstructed. (2) As the OO design of R is different to that of C++, some isses exist when creating an interface between these two systems. (I said these two are 'different', I didn't say which one is better or which one is

: Operator overloading for custom classes
Hi, I need some help to get some of the object orientation, specifically the methods that overload the basic arithmetic operations, from sample C++ code to R. I don't have experience with such advanced language features inside of R. So I was wondering if some of you could help me out in this regard. I have written a simple demonstration of a forward mode automatic differentiator in C++ and

[LLVMdev] function overload in C
Hi, I'm trying to implement an overloading behavior to some of our builtin functions, and came across the following comment in SemaExpr.cpp // Check for overloaded calls. This can happen even in C due to extensions. If (Fn->getType() == Context.OverloadTy) { .... I was wondering which C extensions is this referring to? Thanks Ali -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment

Overloading S4 methods
Dear all, I am experiencing some problems with S4 method overloading. I have defined a generic for graphics:plot, using setGeneric("plot", useAsDefault = plot) and with importFrom('graphics', 'plot') and exportMethods('plot') in the NAMESPACE file of pkg A. I then proceed to define a method for signature c('myS4class', 'missing'). This works

Any parser generator / code assistance for R?
Hi, Is there any parser generator like www.antlr.org? Moreover, how does simple code assistance work currently in R? By 'simple code assistance' I meant things like: Object$M<TAB> --> Object$Method

Help wanted: Overloading an Intinsic
Hello All, I have been modifying LLVM a project of mine, and have encountered issues with overloading an intrinsic function. I have defined two types, abit (which is mapped, in Intrinsics.td, to i128) and qbit (accordingly mapped to i16). I would like my intrinsic function, CNOT(x,y), to accept either an abit or a qbit for each argument, so I overload with iAny and llvm_anyint_ty, as seemed to

smp in Linux
Hello, I checked mail list archives and this topic came up before in March '99 (about ability of R to multithread). At that time rossini at biostat.washington.edu (Tom Rossini) suggested to check his web page in a few month as it was on his list to-do. I checked but the web page is not valid. I wanted to know if in general progress has been made in the area, or if it is planned. I was also

Help wanted: Overloading an Intinsic
Hi David, The error shows that the clang source code uses this intrinsic as well, but in the old form. You need to modify the clang source code (where this intrinsic is used) to consider the overloaded operands. The assert would show the trace where clang uses this intrinsic. Hope this helps, Anna > On Jul 26, 2016, at 3:21 PM, David Noursi via llvm-dev <llvm-dev at lists.llvm.org>

Help with Beta Distribution
First let me confess that I am a R-novice. I am trying to fit a beta distribution for a dataset using fitdistr(MASS). I am having difficulties with it because the function tends to fit a distribution with a range of 0 to 1 (I guess). However, my dataset is not! Anytips or tricks will be very much appreciated. Many Thanks. T. S. Ramanarayanan, Ph.D. Aventis CropScience Research Triangle Park,

Any plans for commenting out region via something like " /* */ "?
Greetings from Switzerland! Are there any plans/initiatives/considerations in future versions of R for commenting out regions via something like " /* */ "? (I've got an application for which something like that would be useful; if not, there are less simple solutions). best, -tony "Commit early, commit often, and commit in a repository from which we can easily roll-back

Overloading in R
I have been trying to write a new class that reimplements the vector class. As a test of my overloading I decided to try and and call t.test on two vectors which were objects of my class rather than the default class. The overloaded length I wrote seems to work correctly. I used setMethod("length", "myvector", ...) setMethod("mean", "myvector", ...)

RSPerl...
Duncan - (but sent to R-devel, for any other thoughts?) How do you envision RSPerl being used? Without having seen the details, I can think of playing with strings; is there a preferred incantation for stringification of R objects (serialization)? (actually, the main problem I'm having is that I know how I want to code something like: Robject <-

"wizard" for building R-packages...
Suppose one wanted to build an R wizard for packaging... One would need to specify and create: package-name/ package-name/Description package-name/INDEX package-name/R/ package-name/man/ package-name/src/ >From this, we'd "probably" like to: - script-up the Description - provide a script for regenerating INDEX by calling out to the

operator overload on views
In my User auth scheme I have a userlevel. I''ve overloaded the User class operators like this: def >(item) if item.class == "User" self.userlevel > item.userlevel else self.userlevel > item end end (other operators are overloaded in essentially the same way). As I understand it, using the operator ">" inside the overloaded

Packages in R & Java
Yes, lots of packages do use C/Fortran code ... it would be great if there were more packages that are "pure R" especially since the advent of S4 classes and namespaces. Is it worth suggesting that we create a designation "pure R" for packages that have no external source code and encourage more of these? Indeed, now the number of packages is so big could they be classified to

Problem with overloading add type casts of numeric strings in PHP bindings
Overloaded methods are mapped in PHP to their implementation (_SWIG_0, _SWIG_1, ..) based on the types and number of arguments the user supplies. However, if one overload accept a string and another an integer the bindings fail to separate them since PHP treats numeric strings much the same as integers. The problem is illustrated in WritableDatabase_replace_document() which takes either the
