I've tried building R in Windows and had trouble compiling Bitmap.dll

problem with building bitmapdll on Windows
Dear R Development People:
I was trying to build R-2.12.2 from source on a Windows XP machine.
Doing the make all recommended works fine, but building the bitmap dll is a problem.
It seems to be in the libpng directory. I got libpng-1.5.1, and untarred it. However, there is no makefile.mingw file in the scripts directory.
I then obtained a version of libpng-1.4.5, and the file is there.

Rtools210 missing jpeg-7?
Hi,
I just built r49839 on my windoze machine with Rtools210. When I do
-make bitmapdll-, it errors saying file jpeg-7/jconfig.h not found
(apologies, I lost the exact error message). After downloading and
unpacking jpegsr7.zip, the bitmap dll builds fine. Rtools210 appears
to still install jpeg-6b, whereas the bitmap makefile (first line) is
expecting jpeg-7. Perhaps this is still experimental

Install Error on SGI Irix 6.5 (PR#637)
Hi,
I'm using R since Version 0.99 on a SGI Indigo 2 with Irix 6.5. I could compile
all Versions of R until 1.1.0.
When I try to compile Version 1.1.0 or 1.1.1 I get an error in the directory

with the gcc compiler command

Wine on Snow Leopard: dumbed-down help needed
Hi, all. I just got a fresh new hard drive on my white MacBook and installed Snow Leopard (10.6). I was a happy Wine user when I had 10.5, but now I can't get Wine to install. First I tried to install wine-devel with Macports, which failed because it couldn't find the 32-bit Freetype libraries. I then downloaded the latest source and did the whole "./configure" and

syskern fails Rcmd check on Windows, gives incorrect information (PR#781)
syskern (`Functions for writing code that is OS and R/S independent', an
amazing description given the reality) fails Rcmd check on Windows, and
also gives incorrect information where it does work.
There are already correct OS-independent functions for these purposes in
R. It appears not to be needed to run the other three packages in the dse
bundle, but to be the only R package that

typo in R-ints.texi's description of P_ macro
I think there are some missing words in "R Internals"'s description of
the P_ macro.
It currently has "A macro as a wrapper for ngettext", which I think
ought to be
something like "The macro P_ may be used as a wrapper for ngettext".
The following patch also makes the 2 alternate definitions of P_ have
the same argument names,
StringS and StringP. Expanding the

I’m a Windows XP user. I’m trying to install R-2.1.1 from source, and it
