R as shared library
Hello folks,
I'm embarking on a project to embed R into the Apache web server, and
I'd like your help. Currently, I'm looking for a way for R code to call
back into a shared library from which the R shared library was loaded.
Essentially, apache starts and loads mod_R.so which runs an
initialization routine which calls Rf_initEmbeddedR() and the following
code:

Infinite loop running Mod_R/Rapache
I installed mod_r according to the specifications, and have been trying
to get the demo script to work correctly. I am running debian, the
latest build of R, apache 2 with prefork mpm, and the latest mod_r. Is
anyone else using this module successfully? I added:
LoadModule R_module mod_R.so
<Location /test/hello>
SetHandler r-handler
Rsource /var/www/html/test.R

Embedding R and registering routines
Hello,
The use of .Call and the like all depend on loading shared libraries and
registering routines from it. Also, .Primitive and .Internal depend on
routines being registered in the R binary. And applications that embed R
can override routines declared in Rinterfac.h, but is there a way for an
application embedding R to register other routines defined in the
application without loading a

Hi,
Can somebody advice on weird mysqlWriteTable bug.

Best way to determine if you're running 32 or 64 bit R on windows
Hi,
Is this sufficient?
if (.Machine$sizeof.pointer==4){
cat('32\n')
} else {
cat('64\n')
}
Or is it better to test something in R.version, say os?
I'd like to use this to specify appropriate linker arguments when
building the RMySQL windows package.

Subject: compare a vector and a row of a matrix
Date: Sun, 26 Sep 2010 23:23:52 +0800
Hi Everyone:
I am trying to compare a vector and rows of a matrix
for example
> xn <- c(1,2,4,4,5,5,5,6)
>yn <- c(1,2,5,7,1,2,3,1)
>mtrx <- cbind(xn, yn)
when I tried, say, > c (1,4), the result was TRUE, TRUE.

RMySQL compile
I am trying to install RMySQL on OpenSolaris and need to pass some options
to configure.
Tried the 3 recommended ways of doing it and nothing works, configure
cannot
find the headers and the libs.
I ran configure manually and that worked fine
./configure CC=cc CFLAGS="-dalign -KPIC -xlic_lib=sunperf"
LDFLAGS="-L/usr/sfw/lib

Multiple assignments in one statement
Is this possible?
For instance, I have a function that returns a vector length 3. In one
statement I'd like to assign each element of the vector to different
variables. Syntactically, I hoped this would work:
c(x,y,z) <- myfun();
Thanks,

When collected warnings exceeds 50
Hi,
I've been tracking down a memory leak in an rApache application,
http://data.vanderbilt.edu/rapache/bbplot. The code was deployed in
2007 and has survived numerous upgrades of both R and rApache
(including upgrades and bugs in RMySQL). It's written in such a way so
that web crawlers will download every possible URL the app will
create. It's not a high-traffic app, but just about

problem with vignettes when S4 classes in packages overlap
( A similar problem is also reported by Sebastian P. Luque with
library(maptools)
library(trip)
in the vignette as below ).
I am writing a vignette which loads RMySQL and RPostgreSQL. This
produces the warning:
Loading required package: DBI
Warning in .simpleDuplicateClass(def, prev) :

Writing character vectors with embedded nulls to a connection
Is this possible? I've tried both writeChar() and writeBin() to no avail.
My goal is to serialize(ascii=FALSE) an object to a connection but
determine the size of the serialized object before hand:
sobject <- serialize(object,NULL,ascii=FALSE)
len <- nchar(sobject)
#
# run some code here to notify listener on other end of connection
# how many bytes I'm getting ready to send

S4 coerce
(I am not sure if this is a bug or a request for a more understandable
warning, or possible something obvious I should be posting on r-help.)
I am trying to coerce an new class object to be a DBIConnection and it
does not work the way I think it should:
R version 2.5.1 (2007-06-27) ...
> require("RMySQL") # or require("RSQLite")

S4 classes in existing packages
R-devel,
I'm interested in looking at some examples of existing R packages that
rely heavily on S4 classes to get a feel for varying styles and
package organization techniques. Could you recommend any packages
that might serve as a good starting point?
Thanks in advance,
Jeff

Utilizing the internet module
Hello all,
I'd like to utilize the R_Sock* functions from R_ext/R-ftp-http.h in my
R package. The intent is to use these in conjunction with R_serialize()
to store R objects in a remote data store. I'm aware that version
2.2.1 of "Writing R extensions" explains that these may be undocumented
and unstable, but I have a couple of questions:
1) are they platform independent?

S4 coercion responsibility
Should functions or the user be responsible for coercing an S4 object
argument containing the proper object (and thus should below be
considered a bug in the packages or not)?
The example is with RSQLite but the same thing happens with RMySQL, and
other DBI packages.
> library("RSQLite") Loading required package: DBI
> m <- dbDriver("SQLite")
> con <-

R-Server remotecontrolled via browser-GUI
dear r-community,
currently i have a workflow as following:
data in online-MYSQL-database via .csv into R for analysis, results
back to mysql.
generating graphics for reports also.
that's ok, but i need some process-optimization.
i'd like to run r directly on the webserver. analysis should work
automatically, after the appropriate r-script was selected in a
browser-gui for R.
