No window graphics on new binary installation for Mac OS 10.3 (PR#7427)
I loaded the binary for R, and most things work fine. The plot command defaults to a postscript file. If I type X11(), I get a message the X11 failed to load. However if I type capabilities(what="X11") I get TRUE back. What do I need to do to get X11 to load properly or to get screen plots? Bill Cleveland

printing graphics window on Mac OS 9.2
I'm a long time user of R, but I'm not a regular Mac user. I am now teaching in a room with a dozen Macs and I'm having a problem printing the graphics window. I'm using R 1.5.1 precompiled for Mac OS on Blue G3s with Mac OS 9.2. When I have the macintosh graphics device selected and use File, Print from the menu system, the OS attempts to print, but the machine hangs after a

cycling from x11 window in RCommander to graphics device window: Mac Os 10.6.8
Dear Colleagues, I have recently installed R Commander on my Mac OS 10.6.8. I'd like to use it for an undergraduate class this year. Everything appears to be working fine, except for one thing. I cannot use Command-tab to cycle from the X11 window in which RCommander is running to any other window open in my workspace. This is particularly important because I cannot cycle to the graphics

File locking from Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther)
Dear list, My system administrator at office runs a SMB server for us all to share files at smb://server/share/ , on which we share mainly MS Office/OpenOffice.org documents. I have recently switched to iBook G4 with Panther. After the switching, I can connect to the SMB server using Panther's built in SMB capability (under Finder). But then we discover that when I open a file on

Multiple instances of R shell in Mac OS X 10.3?
Wondering if there's a way to do this. I'm not referring to running Rterm from OSX terminal, but actually running multiple instances of the R command shell within the OS X GUI... I have R v2.0.1, OS X 10.3.8. Thanks in advance, Ken

R2.0.1 for Mac OS X 10.3 problem
This combination was operating satisfactorily until I tried updating lme4 and Matrix. My attempts to do this ultimately broke R. The R console appears briefly, then collapses. I have tried downloading and reinstalling R without success. Typing 'R' into Terminal gives the error message bring up the usual introduction, then the error message: Error in methods:::mlistMetaName(mi, ns)

Mac OS X Server 10.3: Monotonically increasing Samba processes?
Through my Server Admin, a graph of Samba "connected users" shows that the number of smbd server processes grows and grows without end -- processes never time out/log out and die. This was no problem under light usage, but when I moved a heavily used share to the server, the number of processes spun out of control. What made it all worse was that many of the supposedly dormant

Another Samba and Mac OS 10.3 Question
I have a different Samba and Mac OS 10.3 question. I have a small network in my office with a Linux box acting as a file server, mostly Windows XP clients, and a couple of Macs. When I create Samba shares on the Linux box, I have no problem getting my Windows XP users to be able to read and write to the shares. The login name and password on the XP boxes are the same as the corresponding

rpart postscript graphics, Mac OS
I am running R on Mac OS X 10.2x. When I create postscript graphics of rpart tree objects, a tiny part of the tree gets trimmed off, even when it has only a few terminal nodes. This happens even without fancy but worse if fancy=T. (This doesn't happen with boxplot, scatter plots, etc.) How do I fix this? postscript("tree.eps") plot(davb.tree, u=T) text(davb.tree, use.n=T,

Copy-paste graphics from R to Word on Mac OS X
Greetings: I'm (very) new to R. One of the features of R that I really like is R's ability to quickly generate very good looking graphics. However, I've noticed that when I attempt to copy and paste the graphs from the R graphics output window into Word (in Mac OS X), the resulting picture is very jaggy. I'm aware of the various options such as dev2bitmap, but I'd

Embarrassingly naive question regarding graphics on Mac OS X
I am having trouble saving graphs. Using the Aqua interface (which is not my preferred interface), I have no problems plotting a graph, adding additional lines, points, references, etc., and then saving it to a file using, for example, the dev2bitmap command. I have found that, running R with Xemacs+ESS under X11 (which I prefer over Aqua), this is not possible. I can either send the graph to a

solis driver
I use Centos 7.6.1810 in my server with nut-2.7.2-4.el7.x86_64 which contains Solis version 0.60 08/18/2005, my last version. My hardware related by upsc is Microsol Solis 1.5, the same used to develop the driver. It's an ancient nobreak, but i still works, by the way, an excellent hardware, using the third set of batteries. If you need more information, please let me know. Greeting, Silvino.
