R: bug in windows GUI/script editor (PR#8288)
Hi Duncan,
I am running R in MDI mode (with localisation not installed because I need to use RWinEdt), on an Italian version of Windows 2000 Pro.
I just logged in today and tried to reproduce the bug: the first three times all was fine, the fourth one I got the bug, and finally noticed one detail: the bug appears when I open an R script (I tried several) which causes the "part of the

A bug (?) in Rgui Configuration Editor (buffer lines) in R1.2.0 for Windows (Rgui.exe)
Dear R users:
Today (December 18th) I downloaded R1.2.0 for Windows from
ftp://ftp.stat.unipd.it/users/guido/RWin
and then invoked its Rgui.exe to change its gui configuration. After I set
new values in Rgui configuration Editor frame and saved the set of new
parameters as a "Rconsole" file, then I re-started Rgui and R issued an
error message concerning the buffer-line-value in the

is it possible to modify Rgui.exe in order to allow the following behavior:
Double-click in Windows explorer on fooscript.R will open an instance of
Rgui.exe with the script being opened as well as the working directory being set
to the directory of fooscript.R

RGui Configuration Editor crashes when using an unlisted font
I am using R2.9.0 under Windows XP SP 2 (32-bit).
I just discovered a rather excellent programming font
(http://www.dafont.com/bitstream-vera-mono.font). Since it isn't one of
the fonts listed as an option in the RGui Configuration Editor, I manually
editted my RConsole file font line to
font = Bitstream Vera Sans Mono
When I opened R, the text in the console displayed correctly, but

Rgui bug in Windows: leftover download dialog (PR#7964)
In Windows, if a download is interrupted (by switching to the console
window and hitting ESC), the download status dialog can be left
onscreen, with no apparent way to get rid of it (other than stopping and
restarting R).
To duplicate:
Run this:
a <- available.packages()
download.packages(a, 'c:/temp')
Then, during a particularly long download, switch to the console window
and

Opening Rgui by double-clicking R script
Hi, all,
This is for R-2.5.0 on WinXP and in particular RGui.
I'm trying to teach some colleagues of mine R and rather than impose
Xemacs/ESS upon them I decided to simply start by showing them RGui.
When R is installed, R workspaces (.RData) are automatically registered
so that I can double-click on them in Explorer RGui opens with the
correct working directory. However, I cannot figure

they shared the same problem. Both worked for a while, but then Rgui.exe crashed
on the startup, complains:

Opening a script with the R editor via file association (on Windows)
Is there an easy way to open an R script file in the R Editor found in
more recent versions of R on Windows via a file association? I am looking
for functionality akin to how the ".ssc" file extension works for S-Plus:
upon double-clicking on a ".R" file, Rgui.exe starts up and loads the script
file in the R Editor.
As far as I can tell, Rgui.exe does not have a command line

very minor Rgui problem in rw0641 (PR#204)
In Rgui (rw0641) the dialog boxes opened by Help->R(standard interface)
and Help->Apropos have to be closed by actually clicking on OK, rather
than by hitting return. (Once I'm at the keyboard typing in the search
term, return is more natural than going back to the mouse. But maybe I'm
just old-fashioned.)
Is it OK to mention two bugs in one report? After using

I didn't load the package. I wasn't able to do that, since I wasn't
successfull to install it in first place with install.packages.

Opening a script with the R editor via file association (on Windows)
I read the posting about opening .R files in windows with the Rgui and was
wondering if anything has changed for R-2.8.1 and Windows Vista? I have not
yet been able to get the files to open in the Rgui, the association works
enough to open R but that is about it. Thanks for the input.

Rgui open script file selection filter wish
When using the File/Open Script.. dialogue on Windows, the list of filters
offered is
 R files (*.R)
 S files (*.q,*.ssc,*.S)
 All files (*.*)
I wish that an additional filter be offered as
 Sweave files (*.Rnw,*.Snw)
I find that the Rgui script editor is adequate for most of my R development
and tend to edit *.Rnw files there.

Bug in 2.4.0 Windows menu setup (PR#9277)
I've tracked down where this is occurring, but I don't know how to fix
it. Here's a summary:
If the language in Windows is set to simplified Chinese (i.e. Chinese
(PRC)) and message translations are installed, then on startup Rgui
crashes when it tries to install the console popup menu. The crash
comes when it gets an error trying to do a conversion using mbrtowc, and
