Hi all, I am looking for a clever way to create the following graph using R: I got information on the shares of some subgroups over time (summing up to 1 in each year). The graph I want to create should display the development of the individual shares over time by shading rectangulars for each share in a different color. Is there a clever of doing this? Thanks for your help Stefan

Lattice graphics strip labels for shingles
Dear all, back in 2002 Martin Henry H. Stevens wrote (https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-help/2002-May/019851.html) > How do I control the text in strips? Specifically, I want to put in the > ranges generated in shingle(x) where x is continuous. with an answer from Deepyan Sarkar (see strip.new towards the end of this message). I assume that the answer worked back then, but I've tried

Using the Rprofile file to automatically plot data on Sta rtup of R version 2.0.1.
Dear John, I belive your problem has to do with the sequence of startup. I think that .Rprofile is called before the required libraries are attached. You might like to try putting your code into a .First() function and run it that way. Dear R-devel members, I'm in the process of building a package (akmisc) for my own use (Win XP, R 2.0.1 Patched - see details at end). As I was adding functions (and hence more source .R files) to my package it got to the point were "R CMD check" failed with the following error (output has been cut). * checking S3 generic/method consistency ... Bug in 'rot=' of scales argument of barchart (PR#7296)
Full_Name: Andreas Kiermeier Version: 2.0.0 OS: Windows XP Submission from: (NULL) (203.26.136.133) When "rot=-90" in the scales argument of barchart (and possibly other trellis graphics) the axis label disappears behind the bars and only the last character can be seen. For "rot=90" things work fine.

Reset trellis plot backgroud color
Hello, I run R on Windows 2000. When I load lattice library and plot some lme class objects, the graphic window displays a dark-green color. Graphics look ok on the screen, but lines and points become invisible whem I send the plot to a printer because of the background color. Are there ways to reset the background color? Both par(bg=) and windows() do not work. Any ideas? Richard

repeating rows or columns within a matrix
Hello Spse I have a matrix, say 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 and I would like to expand it by repeating rows within the matrix, to get, if the repeating factor is 2, say: 123 123 456 456 789 789 (or columnwise as well) . There must be a smart way of doing that? Many thanks Juhana Vartiainen juhana.vartiainen at labour.fi -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

Calculating the percentage of explained deviance in lmer
Dear all, I am trying to calculate some measure of the amount of variability in the response variable that is explained by a model fitted in lmer m1<-lmer(response-var ~ Condition+(1|Site/Area/Transect),family="binomial") . I've seen from the literature that the precentage of explained deviance is a common measure. How can I calculate it? Thanks a lot for your help, I hope this

Rprofile file to automatically plot data, tried using the .First command.
No. You put the _whole_ thing into .First(), not just the plot statement. One possibility is to have the code in a script file (say myscript.R) and define .First as follows: .First <- function() source("myscript.R") Haven't try it myself, though. combination xyplot and barchart?
Dear R community, I am having trouble determining how to create the graph I want utilizing my relatively limited knowledge of R. So far I have been using the lattice library to create most of what I need. The dataset (enviro) consists of 2 variables (Temp and Precip) for each Day of a 2-yr period (Year). I wish to display Temp and Precip along the y axis plotted by Day on the x axis to allow

Render index view and RJS on load?
Hi, I''ve searched for a while online and been unable to find anything concerning this. I have a controller with an index action, which has an index view. This view renders the index page but also needs to execute some javascript to show some data (using effects) when the page loads. I thought I could just create the view and RJS with the same name and the RJS would be run after the

Query for semi-transparency support
In ?par there is the following line: "Semi-transparent colors are available for use on devices that support them." I'm looking for a way to query for that support on the current device. I'm pretty sure that this functionality exists at some level as I remember seeing warnings to this effect but my searches have come up empty. Is anyone familiar with a direct path to this

missing factor levels in a lattice barchart panel cause unexpected failure

barchart error (invalid line type) maybe caused by mangled data frame, & fix() resolving the problem
Hi, I use R 2.0.1 at WinXP. I ran into the following problem when using barchart() and would like to ask if there is a solution for it other than using fix(). My data is: >> class(b) > [1] "data.frame" >> unclass(b) > $uint > [1] 84 42 71 82 80 123 13 1 15 77 61 56 62 27 100 87 110 191 71 > [20] 3 48 144 101 115 161 52 164 105 154 266 93

elegant solution to transform vector into percentages?

ResponseTimeOut() and t extension
Hi List; Can someone advise me why in the below context, it does not run the Background step? Once I dial 1000, then it hangup and give congestion signal? If I comment the ResponseTimeOut, then it run the Background but it does not wait till caller enter the digits, once the sound file finish, then it hangup (congestion signal), also in all the situation, it does not go for the t extension, why?
