Setting --sdi in R 2.3.0 beta for Windows
Dear r-devel list members,
I find that adding --sdi to the Target field in the short-cut for R is
ineffective in R 2.3.0 beta for Windows (version/platform details below).
Setting MDI = no in the Rconsole file works, however.
It's probably a bit late to request this for version 2.3.0, but it would be
nice to be able to select either the SDI or MDI in the R Windows installer.

Rconsole wishlist
Hi all,
Wouldn't it be nice (??!!) if R automatically issued a warning message when
the R console buffer was about to fill so that you could save all your
output into a text file? (I know about sink(), but I think it would be good
to have an easier mechanism to save a complete record of messages and
function output). And on a similar vein, wouldn't it also be nice if R
automatically

RGUI font problem (PR#7749)
Full_Name: Christos Hatzis
Version: 2.0.1 patched (2005-02-18)
OS: WinXP SP2
Submission from: (NULL) (24.61.19.101)
I had encountered a similar problem when changing the font in the R Console and
then then open the graphics device by plot(), the console window whites out.
this might be related to bug report 7271. I mentioned it sometime back and was
told is was not reproducible.
Now I have

type.convert (PR#13646)
Full_Name: Stefan Raberger
Version: 2.8.1
OS: Windows XP
Submission from: (NULL) (213.185.163.242)
Hi there,
I recently noticed some strange behaviour of the command "type.convert",
depending on the startup mode used. But there also seems to be different
behaviour on different PCs (all running the same OS and the same version of R).
On PC1:
When I start R in SDI mode (RGui --no-save

Minor GUI Issues
Some minor request for the R on Windows (2000) GUI version. I'm using
1.5.1 with the SDI interface.
(1) When minimized, the main R window and the graphics window show as two
copies of the same icon. That makes it less convenient to switch among
tasks in Windows, as I often select the wrong one. Could they have
different icons in the future, please?
(2) I use a fixed-width Type 1 font

Weird Windows startup menu display problem in 1.7.0 (PR#2817)
Folks:
Winnt; R1.7.0 (freshly installed) running under Rgui.exe.,MDI=yes.
The following is repeatable:
On startup, in my Rprofile.site file, I use winMenuAdd() etc. to install
some user menus. However, they do not appear when R GUI window opens. If I
minimize and restore the window, the added menus now are present.
The exact same procedure under 1.6.2 with exactly the same Rprofile.site and

update.packages through proxy failing
Hi all,
my uni has recently switched to using a proxy (with password) for accessing
Web pages outside the uni. I have since found that "update packages" etc no
longer seem to work from R.
I have tried to fix this problem in two ways:-
1) renaming internet2.dll to internet.dll in the "Modeules" folder and
proceeding as usual. When I tried "update packages" from the

converting numeric to ordered
Hello all,
would someone please tell me why the following code doesn't "work" (i.e. do
what i expected!).
I wanted to convert numeric variables in a matrix to ordered (for input as
nominal variables into the 'daisy' program).
Why does the following code seem to work, but the "is.ordered" command
reports that the variables are not ordered (factors)??

Changing Gui preferences
I want to modify my Gui preferences to get rid of the MDI toolbar and
status bar. [ Under Windows XP and R 1.8.1 and 1.9.0.]
When I uncheck the boxes and click "apply" I am told to save the
preferences and the changes will take effect when restarting R. I click
"save" and a box comes up to ask me to save Rconsole (I'm not sure where
this should be saved but I navigate

Justification of dendrogram labels
Hi all,
Can someone tell me how to justify (right or left) the labels on the
branches of a dendrogram tree? I have produced a dendrogram via agnes and
plotted it with pltree. The dendrogram terminal branch labels seem to be
centre-justified by default and I was hoping to change this to left
justification. Thanks,
Duncan

mysterious (to me) automatic loading of packages when R starts up
Hello,
I have recently noticed that in one of my work areas, a number of packages
are automatically loaded without my explicitly requesting them to be loaded
(see below). This only happens in one particular workspace (located in a
folder). I suspect (without any real evidence) that this may be related to
my creating plots using the ggplot2 package earlier in this workspace.
I am running R 2.7.0

Maximizar Consola de R al inicio
Hola Miguel Angel:

When I resize the R-GUI console window by dragging an edge and drag for more
than a second or two, R crashes. The program exits, leaving a pop-up "Program
Error" box with the message:
"Rgui.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows.
You will need to restart the program.

Bug in setting GUI to SDI mode?
Hi
I did a google search on this and came up with nothing.
OK, in the latest release of R for windows, I want to change the gui to
SDI mode.
Edit -> GUI preferences
Choose SDI
Apply
I get the message about properties not being able to be changed on a
running console, and that I need to save.
So I click Save, and am met with a "Save As" dialogue box with the
default file called
