facter 1.6.18 tarball has a dangerous mac preflight script
The facter 1.6.18 tarball has many issues. First, the
ext/osx/createpackage.sh script still uses packagemaker, which is
deprecated. And even if it used that, there are a few references to files
in the now-deleted conf/osx/ directory.
So it''s pretty difficult to create a Mac pkg from this, but after some
tweaking of the createpackage.sh script, I managed to do it! I ran the

swat on red hat 7.2
Hi,
I'm having a minor issue with swat on red hat 7.2. It won't let me make
any changes to the samba server (adding shares, printers, and global
definitions). The buttons to access these simply don't exist. I can view
status, but I can't make any changes (not even restart the daemons).
This works fine on my Debian system. The only real difference that I can
think of is inetd

almost, but not quite, works perfectly
Hi,
we have this windows application developed internally to keep track of
trouble tickets for the IT people. Since I mostly work in the unix/linux
environment it would be very nice to be able to use this application with
wine. Here is a summary of what i've done so far:
installed Wine-20011226.tar.gz
copied the program dir from a windows box.
Ran the exec (wine Aruser.exe) and recieved

Server w/ DHCP address incorrectly registers with WINS
I am sneaking Linux and Samba into my client's IT department (with the
cooperation of the IT manager) and we have a few issues getting the
system talking to the rest of the network.
The network we are inserting the system into uses WINS and does not
have DNS for local hostname resolution. The system is required to get
its IP address via DHCP. The system is running a vanilla install of

Immediate crash on Mac OS X 10.2.8
Hello,
I don't know very much about Macs, so may have missed some obvious steps,
but I downloaded version 1.8.1 of RAqua.dmg and installed from the R
package file. The Start R icon appeared in the applications directory,
but crashed immediately on opening. Here is the log file:

Its about taking personal responsibility for the security of your
system(s). Trusting someone else's settings of what THEY think YOUR
security should be, is very unwise.
It is not car disassembly - it is checking the

I am working on configuring a G4 with OS 10.2.8(Jaguar). I have read a

re: R-1.9.1 preferences (PR#7170)
okay, so checking the "override" box at the bottom of the menu allows
the changes to take effect.
I still don't understand why you need to have the "override" box there
in the first place

R-1.9.1 on OS 10.2
Hi,
I've been using R 1.7.1 but now I need to upgrade to R-1.9.1.
Since it is not on the Fink tree yet I tried to install it from source to
my sw library. The configuration runs fine, but make doesn't.
Here is the error message I get:

Mac OS X pkgs up.
So I''ve done some Mac OS X pkgs for the latest Facter and Puppet, as well as
a combined mpkg for them both.
Jeff McCune and I are doing a fair bit of testing on them this week in
preparation for MacWorld, so I wasn''t going to upload them to the official
site for another few days, but they''re looking pretty good.

Preflight check / lint
Hi,
Am writing scripts to manage configuration management and Asterisk.
I would like to be able to point the asterisk binary at config
directory with an asterisk.conf in it, and for asterisk to run a pre-
flight check. A bit like a pint check in php, 'apachectl configtest'
and lots of other tools.
asterisk will then exit with 0 on a safe config, and 1 on a bad
config. I can

Measure network bandwidth per process
Hi,
Is there a way to measure network bandwidth per process in CentOS Linux
release 7.6.1810 (Core) using any utility? I was reading about nethogs but
it does not have the option to run it in daemon mode so that we can take a
look at historical data to figure out the process which was consuming high
network bandwidth instead it is a good tool for Live monitoring.
Please suggest. Thanks in
