Embedding R and registering routines
Hello, The use of .Call and the like all depend on loading shared libraries and registering routines from it. Also, .Primitive and .Internal depend on routines being registered in the R binary. And applications that embed R can override routines declared in Rinterfac.h, but is there a way for an application embedding R to register other routines defined in the application without loading a

Infinite loop running Mod_R/Rapache
I installed mod_r according to the specifications, and have been trying to get the demo script to work correctly. I am running debian, the latest build of R, apache 2 with prefork mpm, and the latest mod_r. Is anyone else using this module successfully? I added: LoadModule R_module mod_R.so <Location /test/hello> SetHandler r-handler Rsource /var/www/html/test.R RreqHandler

Callbacks seems to get GCed.
Dear list, I am trying to implement a publish-subscribe mechanism in for an embedded R interpreter. But somehow my registered closures seem to get collected by the GC, even though I have protected them. I have reducted my code to the following sample. Sorry if it is a little verbose. The first couple of call of calls still work, but at some point one of the callbacks (callback1 in my

[ANNOUNCE] mod_R: The R/Apache Integration Project
What is it? ----------- mod_R is a project dedicated to embedding the R interpreter inside the Apache 2.0 (and beyond) web server for the purpose of writing web applications in R. It's composed of three parts: mod_R: the Apache 2.0 module that implements the glue to load the R interpreter. RApache: the R package that provides the API for programming web applications

Dynamic visualisation of R data using Adobe FLEX
Hi useRs, I had posted about Adobe FLEX talking to R for rich visualisation. Reply from Jeffery Horner contained links to the revolution-computing.com webpage which had information pertaining to the Bay Users R group Meetup on Web Dashboards with R. I have a very specific project that I need to implement. I wish to use the graphics capabilities provided by Adobe FLEX to visualise outputs from R.

R-Server remotecontrolled via browser-GUI
dear r-community, currently i have a workflow as following: data in online-MYSQL-database via .csv into R for analysis, results back to mysql. generating graphics for reports also. that's ok, but i need some process-optimization. i'd like to run r directly on the webserver. analysis should work automatically, after the appropriate r-script was selected in a browser-gui for R. until

Struggling with S3/S4 interface issues and External Pointers
I'm currently working on embedding R into the Apache2 webserver (with some positive results...), but I'm struggling to identify the best way to expose the apache data and functions to R. A couple of thoughts: In light of the recent discussion on "S3/S4 classes performance comparson", I'm leaning toward implementing the interface with S3 style classes. I appreciate

wishlist: additional argument in R_tryEval (Rinternals.h)
Hi, R_tryEval, exported in Rinternals.h but not part of the API, is currently defined as: R_tryEval(SEXP e, SEXP env, int *ErrorOccurred); I'm trying to embed R in an application (basically yet another GUI), and this has been very helpful to catch errors. It would be even more helpful if it also gave access to the visibility flag. I can wrap this in a call to withVisible, and that works

Clarifications please.
Hi I think I have asked these questions earlier, but I been able to find answers from the documentation (which I found poorly written in several places). Will someone be kind enough to give me answers and enlighten me? (as in explain with CODE?) I want to embed R in my application and use the fPortfolio package for carrying out risk management computations. Right now I'm reading the Rmetrics

C - R integration: Memory Issues
Hi all, I am a PhD student and I am working on a C project that involves some statistical calculations. So, I tried to embed R into C, in order to call R functions from a C program. My program seems to get the correct results from R. However, it appears to have a lot of memory allocation issues, in contrast to the small amounts of memory that my code allocates. Some additional info

Converting SEXP to primitive C types
I'm new to R development, so this may be a trivial question. In C, How do you convert a SEXP value returned by an R function to a primitive C type (int, double, char, array, etc.)? I've tried using the INTEGER(x), VECTOR_ELT(x,i), and similar functions found in /src/ include/Rinternals.h, but doing so results in incorrect results or a seg-fault. For example, I modified

I want to get a reference to this time series object
I'm trying to get a reference to this object in C SWX.RET[1:6,c("SBI,"SPI","SII")] While i am able to access and use a plain SWX.RET object, I'm getting confused on how to create an object with the array subscripts like above. Here is what I tried to do. It doesn't work because "[" is obviously not an operation or function on SWX.RET. So how do I

Dealing with R list objects in C/C++
Hi, I'd like to construct an R list object in C++, fill it with relevant data, and pass it to an R function which will return a different list object back. I have browsed through all the R manuals, and examples under tests/Embedding, but can't figure out the correct way. Below is my code snippet: #include <Rinternals.h> // Rf_initEmbeddedR and other setups already performed

Detecting user interrupts in R_tryEval
Is there any way to distinguish between an error and a user interruption in R_tryEval? In both cases the ErrorOccurred argument is set to 1. For my application I need a different action in case of a SIGINT. >From the source code I infer that R_tryEval basically wraps eval in R_ToplevelExec, which returns TRUE if fun returns normally, FALSE if it results in a jump to top level. However both an

Rf_PrintValue problem with methods::show
Hi, I think this is a bug (even though I can't find documentation explicitly saying that it should work). Basically, Rf_PrintValue(obj) fails when 'obj' is an S4 object that should be printed using show() rather than print(). From the error message I'm guessing that the need to use show is detected correctly but then show is not found. "cbind2" in the code below is just

Mature SOAP Interface for R
Hello, we are writing rich internet user interfaces and like to call R for some of the computational needs on the data, as well as some creation of image files. Our objects communicate via the SOAP interface. We have been researching the various packages to expose R as a SOAP service. No current CRAN SOAP packages however. Found 3 to date: RSOAP (http://sourceforge.net/projects/rsoap/)

R-2.0.0 findVar and findFun question
Dear all, when working on a project with embedded R, I found out that R-2.0.0 causes a problem where older versions worked OK. Rf_findVar(...) causes the following error when used to find a generic function (such as print): fun = Rf_findVar(...); R_tryEval(fun, ...); Error in function (object, ...) : Invalid generic function in usemethod Alternatively, using Rf_findFun(...) seems OK in this
