Re: [R] Printing Lattice Graphs from Windows (PR#6947)
I agree: It sounds like a bug, as you said, Irk, in that Rgui.exe cannot copy a metafile to the clipboard, at least under MS Windows 2000, 5.00.2195, Service Pack 3, even though Rterm.exe can. Therefore, I'm including "r-bugs@biostat.ku.dk" in the list of addresses to this email. Spencer Graves Irk Eddelbuettel wrote: >On Sun, Jun 06, 2004 at 12:26:45PM -0700,

RE: [R] Printing Lattice Graphs from Windows (PR#6952)
Hi folks. It looks like it's stirred some discussion ultimately resulting/concluding that this phenomena is a possible bug either in the lattice package or in R 1.9.0/1.9.1 itself. So, I'll stay tuned, so to speak, for either an update in the lattice package or R as it seems that that's where the bug may lie. FYI, the resulting plot, (e.g., plot(1~1)), worked as it should either

Problem with Rterm.exe
I have downloaded rw0632 (Windows Version) from the CRAN at ETH Zuerich. Im working with NT4.0 Service Pack 4. I can start without any problems the GUI program Rgui.exe. But by using Rterm.exe (batch mode or with ESS respectivelly) I always get an error "the instruction at "0x10018ee8" referenced memory at ""......." Any ideas what is wrong? Best Regards Markus

Graphics ?
Hi, In the Windows version of R 0.65.1 I'd like to copy the results of a plot to the clipboard either as a bitmap or as a metafile. The same thing in fact as does the menu "Copy to the clipboard" provides but from the command line. I intend to use the DCOM server version of R to do plots, among other things and copy the results to the clipboard and show these on a picture box in my

plots to metafile and x/y ratio
Dear all, I have a problem which I'm not sure if it is due to my machine or if I'm doing something wrong. I'm ploting a little map using plot(val, type="l", asp=1) where val is the object with the latitude/longitude data. In the screen the figure is perfect, and I can copy to the clipboard and paste it to other places. I can also saved using png() or jpeg(), althoug

metafile copy and R 1.9.0
Dear all, I'm running into problem in R-1.9.0 that hasn't happened with R-1.8.x If I make a plot with xyplot(), and use the menu to either save to a metafile or copy to clipboard as a metafile to export to eg Powerpoint, I can just copy a blank then. This does not occur with the classical plot(). Thus, I suppose that it may come from lattice or grid (going through the R-archives I

Print grid/ggplot to a metafile
Dear UseRs called Hadley, or Paul, I am trying to print an edited ggplot2/grid graphics to a metafile. With the commented line below it works, but when I edit the plot by uncommenting the line, it fails, because it's illegal to have 2 graphics in a metafile. It works with pdf, but even then I get two plots, which is a nuisance. I found a workaround by using windows(); savePlot, but it only

RGui innards questions
Hi, i would like to find out more on how Rgui works. Is there any documentation that details how RGui interfaces with the R language & environment. So, i would like to know things such as: - What language is RGui built in (source available?) - What language is RTerm built in? - how does the output of an R command get directed to the terminal window in RGui? It seems to me that RGui is RTerm

Use of recordPlot
I am trying to save plots that I create using calls to windows() folowed by multiple calls to plot to place several plots on a page. I want to store the plots as variables to be able to recall them later. The documentation states: "Recorded plot histories are of class "SavedPlots". They have a print method, and a subset method. As the individual plots are of class

Sweave output encoding in R-2.10.0beta on Windows (Rgui <-> Rterm)
Dear developers, I have come across a (somewhat strange) change in the encoding of Sweave output from R-2.9.2pat to R-2.10.0beta (apparently specific to Rgui) on Windows installations. Of course, the NEWS file contains quite a few changes concerning encoding, but I was not able to locate an entry which explains the observed behaviour. I am not very familiar with encodings/locales/codepages,

Problem with batch-file
Hi I have written a graphical user interface using tcltk. Now I would like to run it under rterm.exe with a batch file. I tried the following code written in a .bat file: d:\R\rw1071\bin\Rterm.exe --no-restore --no-save <d:\RGui.r> d:\RGui.out The problem is that rterm does open but the gui isn't running properly. After a few seconds rterm is closeing without doing anything more

win.metafile use
Platform: Windows 95 Version : R0641 Problem : I wish to plot and save a large number of graphics files in windows metafont format. I have a very crude postscript printing function, which happily handles repeated calls: psf<-function(filename){ dev.print(postscript,file=paste(sep="",filename,".ps"),horizontal=F) return() } To produce metafont files, I

lattice dotplot and graphic devices on Windows
I am using R1.4.0 on WindowsNT (the precompiled version from Brian Ripley's website) and the lattice package (version details are at the end of this message). After producing a lattice dotplot, I want to insert the graph into a MicrosoftWord document. With "ordinary" R-graphics, I have done this successfully by copying the graph as a metafile to the clipboard and pasting this into my

Cases of TAB-completion that hang Rterm
FYI, via a bug report of one of my packages, I discovered that the following cases will hang Rterm when using TAB completion: CASE #1: Adding an empty default function for tail() causes Rterm on Windows to hang if one press TAB at the prompt: % Rterm -vanilla > tail.default <- function(...) {} > [PRESS TAB] Error in specialOpLocs(text) : (list) object cannot be coerced to type

Can an xyplot() plus legend be saved as an Enhanced Windows Metafile (EMF)?
I am trying to save some graphical output including a legend in the Windows Enhanced Metafile (EMF) format. This fails when xyplot() is used rather than plot(). Here is a simple example: require(lattice) a <- c(1:10) b <- c(2,4,5,2,3,5,7,8,9,5) # Output can be saved (or copied to the clipboard) as a Windows EMF image file # from the Graphics Device output window. plot(a , b)

Minor Windows clipboard issue
Hello I have a small problem in Windows RGui using Remote Desktop when the clipboard paste menu item becomes unexpectedly disabled. I'm using Remote Desktop to connect from a Windows 2000 workstation client to RGui running on Windows Server 2003. After text is pasted to RGui from the client a couple of times, the "Edit : Paste" menu item becomes disabled when data should be

Rgui.exe fix for "console not found" buffer overflow problem
I'm using R on Windows XP Professional SP2. I figured out the fix for my buffer overflow problem that did not allow me to use Rgui.exe for about two weeks. I would keep getting "console not found" and even when I uninstalled and re-installed got the same problem. Here's how the problem started. In Rgui.exe, I attempted to get more visible output in the buffer (I wanted
