Re: [R] Printing Lattice Graphs from Windows (PR#6948)
Hi, Duncan: I just did "plot(1:2)" in Rgui.exe, and that copied fine as a metafile into MS Word via the clipboard. Then I exited and restarted Rterm.exe under ESS and tried it again. This time, I got a blank image copied into MS Word. However, after I modified the Lattice defaults via, "trellis.par.set('background', list('white'));

RE: [R] Printing Lattice Graphs from Windows (PR#6952)
Hi folks. It looks like it's stirred some discussion ultimately resulting/concluding that this phenomena is a possible bug either in the lattice package or in R 1.9.0/1.9.1 itself. So, I'll stay tuned, so to speak, for either an update in the lattice package or R as it seems that that's where the bug may lie. FYI, the resulting plot, (e.g., plot(1~1)), worked as it should either

Graphics ?
Hi, In the Windows version of R 0.65.1 I'd like to copy the results of a plot to the clipboard either as a bitmap or as a metafile. The same thing in fact as does the menu "Copy to the clipboard" provides but from the command line. I intend to use the DCOM server version of R to do plots, among other things and copy the results to the clipboard and show these on a picture box in my

lattice dotplot and graphic devices on Windows
I am using R1.4.0 on WindowsNT (the precompiled version from Brian Ripley's website) and the lattice package (version details are at the end of this message). After producing a lattice dotplot, I want to insert the graph into a MicrosoftWord document. With "ordinary" R-graphics, I have done this successfully by copying the graph as a metafile to the clipboard and pasting this into my

plots to metafile and x/y ratio
Dear all, I have a problem which I'm not sure if it is due to my machine or if I'm doing something wrong. I'm ploting a little map using plot(val, type="l", asp=1) where val is the object with the latitude/longitude data. In the screen the figure is perfect, and I can copy to the clipboard and paste it to other places. I can also saved using png() or jpeg(), althoug

metafile copy and R 1.9.0
Dear all, I'm running into problem in R-1.9.0 that hasn't happened with R-1.8.x If I make a plot with xyplot(), and use the menu to either save to a metafile or copy to clipboard as a metafile to export to eg Powerpoint, I can just copy a blank then. This does not occur with the classical plot(). Thus, I suppose that it may come from lattice or grid (going through the R-archives I

further on ESS/XEmacs for Windows
Dear list members, I've had helpful feedback from a number of people, several of whom experienced some problems getting my XEmacs/ESS configuration files for Windows to work properly. I will, of course, make changes based on this feedback, but the following information may be of use in the interim: (1) It's clear that my instructions and installation procedure were insufficiently

Using XEmacs and ESS with R for MS/Windows
I've been working on a document describing the use of XEmacs and ESS with R for Windows users, along with configuration files that are meant to make things simple for Windows users. This was initially intended for my students, but with recent discussions of Windows (and other) editors on the the R-help list, I thought that I'd make the material more widely available. Use of recordPlot
I am trying to save plots that I create using calls to windows() folowed by multiple calls to plot to place several plots on a page. I want to store the plots as variables to be able to recall them later. The documentation states: "Recorded plot histories are of class "SavedPlots". They have a print method, and a subset method. As the individual plots are of class

ess in Windows (newbie Q)
I'm a rank beginner with R, and I'm stumped at how to get it to work with Xemacs under Windows XP. I'm afraid there are some VERY basic questions I have here. Yes, I did read http://ess.r-project.org/Manual/readme.html. Both R and Xemacs are installed and working. The current ess files are installed in a subdirectory of my Xemacs directory. I added the R bin directory to my

Problem with Rterm.exe
I have downloaded rw0632 (Windows Version) from the CRAN at ETH Zuerich. Im working with NT4.0 Service Pack 4. I can start without any problems the GUI program Rgui.exe. But by using Rterm.exe (batch mode or with ESS respectivelly) I always get an error "the instruction at "0x10018ee8" referenced memory at ""......." Any ideas what is wrong? Best Regards Markus

Sweave and Xemacs on Windows2000?
Hallo! Trying to configure Xemacs to work with .snw files on windows 2000. Tried to do it how it is described in the FAQ for Sweaves. When starting xemacs with and Snw file *ESS* buffer contains hundrets of lines and the few last ones. Print grid/ggplot to a metafile
Dear UseRs called Hadley, or Paul, I am trying to print an edited ggplot2/grid graphics to a metafile. With the commented line below it works, but when I edit the plot by uncommenting the line, it fails, because it's illegal to have 2 graphics in a metafile. It works with pdf, but even then I get two plots, which is a nuisance. I found a workaround by using windows(); savePlot, but it only

Can an xyplot() plus legend be saved as an Enhanced Windows Metafile (EMF)?
I am trying to save some graphical output including a legend in the Windows Enhanced Metafile (EMF) format. This fails when xyplot() is used rather than plot(). Here is a simple example: require(lattice) a <- c(1:10) b <- c(2,4,5,2,3,5,7,8,9,5) # Output can be saved (or copied to the clipboard) as a Windows EMF image file # from the Graphics Device output window. plot(a , b)

rterm not shutting down from ESS on Win32/could we help?
Hi to all who suffer from rterm not shutting down in xemacs/ESS on windows NT or 2000. Also hi to those who could eventually help. Here is some more information which could help and some ENCOURAGEMENT to contribute to a solution. 1. It may be an xemacs problem but it is more likely an interaction between rterm/comint/and xemacs. In fact, the problem started occurring around version R 1.6.0. I

printing from windows() device when running R under ESS
Sorry for the cross-post: not sure whether it's Rterm or ESS (or something else?)... I'm running R (1.5.0 patched 2002-05-09, compiled from source on WinNT4) under ESS 5.1.21 with XEmacs 21.4.6. When I plotted a graph on the windows() device, and then use the menu in the R graphics window to print the graph, the printer selection dialog box does not show up until I go to the *R* buffer

after identify labels dissapear XP
Greetings: Using 'identify' to label points on a plot works just fine. However, when saving under 'metafile' or using the clipboard the labels dissapear. I believe it's an SDI issue. I am running last R with last Tinn-r under XP up to date. Anything I can do besides going back to MDI :-)? Thanks, Mihai Nica, ABD Jackson State University ITT Tech Instructor 170 East Griffith
