shlib problems with Intel compiler
Hi,
I'm encountering trouble compiling caTools_1.17.1.tar.gz and e1071_1.6-4.tar.gz on a Linux system using the Intel compiler suite. 14 other packages I generally use installed without any trouble. I notice both of these trouble packages have a C++ component, so I wonder if that might be the issue. Below, there's information on my platform, compiler, and some diagnostic output showing

shlib problems with Intel compiler
Hi Martyn,
Thanks for your insight, that seems pretty direct. Unfortunately, I did not compile this version of R (it's on a large supercomputer system and this version of R was installed by the admins). Using "R CMD config", I see the following relevant settings:
DYLIB_LD = icc -std=gnu99
DYLIB_LDFLAGS = -shared -openmp
LDFLAGS = -L/opt/compilers/intel/cce/9.1.039/lib

e1071, R1.9.0, Solaris 2.9, should I be worried?
In R 1.9.0 running under Solaris 2.9 on a SunBlade 100,
with "Sun WorkShop 6 update 2 C++ 5.3 2001/05/15" as the
C++ compiler, I just did

The output includes these lines, which I have wrapped to fit nicely in mail:

R installation problem with shared libraries (PR#13900)
Full_Name: Uwe F. Mayer
Version: 2.9.1
OS: SunOS myhost 5.10 Generic_120012-14 i86pc i386 i86pc Solaris
Submission from: (NULL) (216.113.168.130)
Configuration problem with the creation of shared libraries: Compilation only
succeeds if SHLIB_LDFLAGS="-shared" is added to the configure command line. This
is likely due to a wellknown gcc-4 feature, in that gcc requires -shared and not

new version of e1071 on CRAN
A new version of e1071 has been released to CRAN which should be much
easier to install on a lot of platforms because reading/writing PNM
images has been moved to the pixmap package, hence there are no longer
dependencies on external libraries and no configure mechanism.

Where can I find cmeans {e1071} package?
Hello,
I need a Fuzzy C Means algorithm.
I found some documentation about cmeans {e1071} at
http://rss.acs.unt.edu/Rdoc/library/e1071/html/cmeans.html
Does someone knows where I can find it?
Thank you

fclustindex, e1071 package
Hi,
I'm using e1071 package to do fuzzy cluster analysis. My dataset (ra) has
5237 observations and 2 variables - depth and velocity. I used fuzzy cmeans
to create 6 fuzzy classes.

cluster & mgcv update
Hello,
After reinstalling the whole OS and R as well, I tried to update.packages()
and get the follwing error message:
concerning the mgcv update: atlas2-base is installed and blas as well (on
debian). I haven't found lf77blas, I assume it's a library or something
similar associated with blas.
any suggestion how to solve that, thanks Martin

Package installation
Hi all,
I'm very new to R.
I have installed R 1.9.0 on Linux (Fedora).
Now I got an self-made package comprising R functions as well as C-Code
which are used in several R functions.
I installed the package without any error (see install log below).
Then, I checked in /usr/lib/R/library if the package izbi exists and it
exists.
But whenever I try to load the library on the command line I

e1071 ver 1.5-27 and older - SVM bug report
Dear All:
I found a problem with the SVM internal cross-validation (CV) accuracy
estimation in the e1071 package.
File: Rsvm.c
Line: 120
Today, it is:
int j = rand()%(prob->l-i);
Should be:
int j = i + rand()%(prob->l-i);
The erroneous code doesn't shuffle objects. Instead, it "randomly"
moves objects from beginning to the end.
In hope for a prompt response from the

packages installation failed on Linux
Hi all,
I've successfully compiled R-1.2 on a Linux box (Mandrake 7.1). However,
when I installed packages from sources, I run into problems with the
packages logspline and tseries. The error messages are as follows. Can
anyone help? The compiler is gcc 2.95.3, if that helps.

SJava help
Hi,
I installed SJava 0.66-1 on my linux RH 7.2 machine. I am using R-1.7.1.
I set LD_LIBRARY_PATH up then called library(SJava) and it was fine. But
when I called .JavaInit(), I got weird error that states it could not
find java/lang/Hashtable. The session is below and shows my java
configuration. I am using j2sdk1.4.2_01 from Sun.
Thank you very much.

Pues no lo sé. Es algo del código de RandomForest, supongo.

Compilation problem SuSE 9.0
Hi
I have problem running R (tried 1.8.0 and 1.7.1) under a fresh installed SuSE
9.0 using default settings: I'm not able to send plots to the monitor. Only
postscript graphs are produced in external files. When assigning
options(device='X11') and then plotting I get the message "Error in X11() :
X11 is not available".
Since this occured using the r-cran binary I tried

Hago un cmeans con el paquete e1071;

y me da este error: Error in apply(u, 1, which.max) : dim(X) must

Can't install "e1071"
I observed the same behavior as Edward this morning with R-1.2.2 on Red Hat
Linux 7.0. There appears to be a problem with the library in netpbm-9.5-5,
even after hunting down the missing shhopt.h that pbmplus.h is looking for.
I worked around the problem by compiling e1071 without pbm support (moved
pbm.c to pbm.c.bak).
