Several libraries won't load with (PR#6927)
Thank you both.
1. It looks like part of the problem is indeed that the packages in the
patched version for Windows aren't coordinated with the libraries.

read.spss {foreign} doesn't work over network?
I'm unable to open an SPSS file over my network. If I copy it to my
local C:/ drive I can read it. I saved the command (in a "crib sheet"
text file) in order to avoid all the typing, so I'm pretty sure I've
done it before. I verified that the file I'm trying to read is OK.

Font in JavaGD() & pdf()
Dear r-helpers,
When I do an xYplot and display the result in a JavaGD() window, the
font is sans-serif (presumably Helvetica). When I send the figure to
a pdf, I get a serif font (presumably times). How do I insure that
the font in the pdf is indeed the default sans serif?

Porting from Linux to Windows
I intend to port an R project from Linux to Windows.
It involves C code that is loaded via dyn.load().
I could manage to produce a 'dll' File using cygwin which seems to be
o.k.
Now, using dyn.load("pcr.dll") i get:
Error in dyn.load(x, as.logical(local), as.logical(now)) :

140 packages in R Commander!!
Dear List
I just downloaded and installed R 2.12.0 and then installed R Commander .
First it got RCmdr and Car, and then suggested for other packages for
utilizing the full functionality- I clicked yes!
I got 140 packages installed!!! Cran Mirror was UCLA...
Here is the list.
Is this intentional- I can see some packages like snow and multicore which
are desirable but quite optional.(see list

utils::install.packages with quiet=TRUE fails for source packages on Windows
Hi,
Installing a source package on Windows using utils::install.packages()
with quiet=TRUE fails, while it works with the default quiet = FALSE.
The problem seems to be caused by the fact that when quiet = TRUE,
stdout and stderr are set to FALSE when calling "R CMD INSTALL" with
base::system2() here:

utils::install.packages with quiet=TRUE fails for source packages on Windows
The obvious guess would be that Rstudio is attempting something like redirecting output and getting itself confused. However, it is pretty clearly Their Problem, no? Rstudio has their own support infrastructure.

Error compiling ROracle on Windows 2000
Hello,
I am trying to compile ROracle _0.5-4 under R 1.9.0 without much success. I am running Windows 2000 SP4, Visual C++ 6.0 SP6, and Oracle client 9.2.0.1.0. I was able to run the pre-compiled version of ROracle_0.5-2 under R 1.7.1, but does not work on R 1.8.1 or R 1.9.0. Here is the output from nmake:

pmvt problem in multcomp
Hi, all:
Two examples are shown below.
I want to use the multiple comparison of Dunnett.
It succeeded in upper case "example 1".
However, the lower case "example 2" went wrong.
In "example 2", the function pmvt return NaN, so I cannot show
this simtest result. Is there any solution?
