Bug/problem reporting: Possible to modify posting guide FAQ?
If users post a bug or problem issue to an R-based news group (R-devel, R-help, BioC - though BioC is far more forgiving) they get yelled at for not reading the posting guide and FAQ. "Please *_do_* read the FAQ, the posting guide, ..." the yellers do say. So I read the BioC FAQ and it says... http://www.bioconductor.org/docs/faq/ "Bug reports on packages should perhaps be

Suggestion for the R Bugs web page
Hi all, I would like to recommend that the following text from the R Posting Guide be placed on the R Bug submission page in the section "Submit New Reports", which would read as follows: Submit New Reports You can submit new bug reports either using an online form by clicking on the button below or by sending email to r-bugs at biostat.ku.dk. Before you post a real bug report, make

RH 9 and R 1.7.0 Beta April 2 Latest
Hi all, I am now up and running on RH 9. Went pretty smoothly (about 1 hour for the clean install, though still doing some "tweaking".) There are already about 40 update RPMS including a new kernel via RHN, which I have installed. Noticeable improvements since 8.0, especially with the new version of XFree86, which yields sharper fonts that are now (with TTF fonts installed)

Posting Guide: changed link and other comment
I have two comments regarding the Posting Guide: (1) The link in the following sentence did not work for me: Take care when you quote other people's comments to respect their rights, e.g., as summarized here[a]. [a] http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/help/policy/copyright.htm Has it been changed to the following? http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/policyandsecurity/copyrightissues.html (2) Regarding

"test page failed to print" - How to I resolve this?
This is a new one to me... Drivers install fine, but on some of the printers I get the "test page failed to print" message. I'm getting nothing in the samba logs from the workstation, smbd, nor from the cups logs. I've googled myself silly, but can only find other people asking the same or similar question. Some of them have found permissions to be the problem, but in

Test for new page
Dear R experts, I am writing a multi-page PDF file and would like to put a header on each page. Is there a way to test a graphic device to see if a new page is started (so that I know when to write the header)? I could simply count the plots made (each page has the same number of plots), but wanted to see if a more general solution is available. Thank you, Aleksey -- Aleksey Naumov GIS

Possible error in ?axTicks
Hi all, Before posting to r-bugs, I thought that I would just verify this one first. It looks like the help for axTicks() needs to be corrected. It presently says: 'axTicks()' can be regarded as an R implementation of the C function 'CreateAtVector()' in '..../src/main/graphics.c' which is called by 'axis(side,*)' when no argument 'at' is specified.
