dbApply and data.frame
Hallo again I now succeeded in using dbApply on my data and I can convert it into a data.frame. But as Peter Dalgaard pointed out I his answer to my earlier question (Re: [R] list to data frame, 17.07.2003) I get one row and 10000 columns instead of what I want two columns and 10000 rows when I convert the list that dbApply returns to a Data frame. The list I want to convert looks like this

Why does the graph converge?
I have a set of functions: Probability <- function(N, f, w, b, l, n, q) { #N is the number of lymph nodes #f is the fraction of Dendritic cells (in the correct node) that have the antigen #w is time in terms of hours #b is the starting position (somewhere in the node or somewhere in the gap between nodes. It is a number between 1 and (x+t)) #q is the length of the time step #l is the LN

security hole in mailx
Hi there. I''ve discovered a rather serious security hole in mailx, the good old Berkeley mail program. It''s somehow present at least in the last versions I''ve checked (mailx-8.1.1 in Linux, mailx 5.0 in Solaris). The bug is an exploitable buffer overflow (using the HOME environment variable) that allows any local user to acquire the privileges under which the program

checkboxes with a has_many :through relation
All, I''m populating a view with checkboxes in a list. I want to be able to assign to my has_many relationship using the post values of these checkboxes. Essentially, I want to populate the relationship table which will create the correct join values in my model. Here is my check_box_tag code: <%= check_box_tag("@current_job[target_list_ids][]",

can't merge zoo ojects and convert to ts (been trying for 2 days)
I'm stuck, but am sure it can be done I just don't understand how. I have data in an irregular timeseries. I want to be able to use stl to visualise the data (see seasonal parts etc), so I need to change to regular series of class ts (I think). I am using 2 zoo objects one is regular and the other is my irregular data. I am then merging to create the object I want but when I try to change

Windows share modes and Linux file locking, flock & fcntl
Hi, I am trying to understand file locking and share modes. I am using RedHat Enterprise Linux 4, with kernel 2.6.9-55.ELsmp, samba-3.0.10-1.4E.11 and Windows XP. In particular I am looking at a machine running Linux exporting its local filesystem using Samba, with a Windows client accessing the file share. If I use byte range locking (fcntl() on Linux, LockFile() on Windows) things work as

[ANNOUNCE] xorg-server 1.16.99.902
Ok, here's what I think we should release as 1.17. I plan on doing that in a few days (Monday? Tuesday?), unless there's some good reason not to. Let me know if there's some critical (i.e. crashing) fixes that I've missed somehow. And, again, I think we can run a shorter 1.18 cycle, given the pent-up list of fixes. Sorry for not getting this wrapped up sooner. Turns out that

call RODBC function from DCOM
Hi. My VB program run a R - script located in the server with R DCOM server. The R - script is designed to send a query to DB through ODBC. There is NOT any problem when I run each code from R-window interface. However, when I call the R-script from my VB program it stucked after calling "sqlQuery" statement. I can check that odbcConnect(dsn, uid, pwd) returns -1.

MFC+winelib
Hello all, Some days ago I decided to try to compile MFC under wine. I've read all wine mailing threads about this, did some exploration myself, and now have some questions: 1. Does anybody out there have generated Makefile for MFC under wine? It could save me much time in the beginning, so I don't have to hand-correct winemaker generated files. So maybe a kind soul that
