NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME
I am trying to run Samba 3.0.24-11.fc6 on Fedora Core 6. I've run across two problems that are keeping me from being successful. 1. IPTables. Even when I configure it through Webmin to not run at startup, it does anyway. I consider this a minor problem, at least for now, although I wouldn't mind some input on how to configure it to allow Samba. 2. Access to shares. We are running

a +1 shift overlaying lines/points on a boxplot (PR#398)
Full_Name: Adrian Custer Version: 0.90.0 OS: Linux on Thinkpad (pentium) and desktop (K6) Submission from: (NULL) (128.32.251.234) When I create a boxplot, and then try to overlay a lowess fit or just the points, the points do not appear in the highest level and the lowess curve does not reach the highest level. However, if I add one to each of the models, the problem is solved. I tried this

Can't access shares
Running FC6 and Samba 3.0.24-11.fc6. Workstation is XP Pro Initially, after disabling SELinux and turning off Iptables, I could access the shares that were set up. Came in this morning ready to start copying files and can't get in. Prompts me for a username and password which is rejected. I know it's not my workstation because I have another FC6/Samba server running and have no problem

R and Gnumeric?
Hi all, A hopefully quick query. I was reading a posting over at gnomedesktop.org on the latest release of Gnumeric 1.4: http://gnomedesktop.org/node/2090 There is a mention there: Improved accuracy: While Gnumeric 1.2 was already the best available source for accuracy in statistical calculations, Gnumeric 1.4 is even better. We are cooperating with The R Project to

Gnumeric - 1 Excel - ?
Hi all, As happens from time to time, discussions on this list appear regarding the use of popular spreadsheets for statistical analysis. One such thread (post of mine) is here: http://maths.newcastle.edu.au/~rking/R/help/03a/6326.html While not advocating such use, these discussions have referenced articles that provide independent reviews of these applications and issues of accuracy, etc.

Help Choosing Start Values for nls
Hi all, I'm trying to do a simple curve fit and coming up with some interesting results I would like to get comment on. So as shown below, tsR is my explanatory and response is... well... my response. This same data in gnumeric gets fitted with the curve "response=10078.4 + 1358.67 * ln (explanatory - 2009.07) So I'm using nls with the start values supplied by gnumeric. in

R and Gnumeric
Hi, I just read the "Embedding R in Gnumeric" idea at http://www.r-project.org/SoC08/ideas.html. On my side, I intend to add as many statistics related plot types to the current gnumeric charting engine as possible. We already have boxplots and partial support for histograms. My immediate plans are to finish the histogram code and add probability plots

RGnumeric real time refresh?
I have data that comes in every 7 seconds or so and I'd like to display it in a spreadsheet, and possibly take user input from the spreadsheet. I have installed RGnumeric and written an appropriate R function that reads, manipulates and displays the data by writing via RGnumeric to a spreadsheet. However, the results of this are not displayed until the R function returns, so refreshing by

Overal plot title after mfrow and .Rhistory questions.
Hello everyone, I had a few questions that I have not been able to figure out despite a lot of reading. 1) Adding a title to a multiplot figure: If I plot multiple plots with >par(mfrow=c(2,6)) how do I add an overall title to the figure, not the individual plots? 2) Saving histories on the fly: Is there a .Rhistory equivalent to >save.image() ? I would like to be able to save the

Is there in R a function equivalent to the mround, as found in most spreadsheets?
Dear R-users, I have the following problem In a lab experiment I have to mix three solutions to get different concentrations of various molecules in a cuvette I've used R to calculate the necessary ?liters for each of the level of the experiment and I must confess that it is more useful and easier to achieve the results than using spreadsheets. But there's a problem. Imagine that

Excel files-suggested manual addition
Hi, I had some excel files that I needed to read into R, there were alot so I didn't want to do them by hand in gnumeric. I tried all the recommendations in the data import/export manuals, including RODBC, and for some reason they all failed on these files. Then I stumbled on ssconvert, a script that wraps all gnumerics converters, see

Gnumeric
Hi, I am trying to install Gnumeric in CentOS 4 and I can't. It complains about quite a few dependencies failing. It suggested installing some postgresql librairies, openldap librairies... I did that, now I still get: dependencies failed: libmdb/libmdbsq/libsqlite/libxbase/libtds. Is there a yum repository that has them or a yum repository for gnumeric? I have tried Dag, he does not, he

Yum Update Question
I have asked myself over the years... just what happens during the update process? For instance, the latest updates included updates to php. I'm wondering if apache is restarted or reloaded to read the new php updates? More broadly... if this is done, is it done pretty much for every interrelated update, I guess with the exception of kernel updates? Thanks for all the hard work. Best,

Excel -> *.CSV in Unix (Linux) command line?
A colleague has a dozen of excel sheets and also expects to get updates regularly. He could open these in M$-Excel and export as *.csv manually, "bring back to Unix" and then read into R. Of course there must be options to start programming this in something like visual basic, but we wouldn't to really want to... We also know that probably Gnumeric could do the job (since the xls
