print and execute functions in a package namespace
Let's say I have a package that consists of a set of functions, fig1(), fig2(), fig3() ..., each of which produces a plot, and perhaps some printed output, e.g., fig1 <- function() plot(1:10) fig2 <- function() plot(10:1) fig3 <- function() {y<-sample(1:10,10); plot(y); y} I'd like to produce a document (PDF or HTML) containing the listing of each function and its output,

GLM with random effects
Hi R-Users, I have 3 replicates ('Replicate) of counts of parasites ('nor.tot.lep') before and after an experiment ('In.Out'). I am trying to treat the three replicates as a random effect in order to determine if the main effect (In.Out) significantly influences my dependent variable (nor.tot.lep) after the variance explained by the replicates is accounted for. I have

Sweave
I'm trying to (re)learn Sweave and run into some problems. I use now ubuntu (8.10), emacs + ess. Slowly getting upto speed on ess. I have a complete (hopefully) .Rnw file, but the resulting .tex will not compile. The file does not contain anything exotic, but it produces pdf figures, and that is where the problems come: library(tools) > Sweave("varioCoo.Rnw") Writing to file

help with lmer,
Hi R-users: New to R and I am trying to run a GLM with random effects. I have 3 replicates ('Replicate) of counts of parasites ('nor.tot.lep') before and after an experiment ('In.Out'). When I run lmer I get the error messages (16 of each) below... > lmer(nor.tot.lep ~ In.Out + (In.Out|Replicate),data=coho, family =tweedie(var.power = 1, + link.power = 1)) Generalized

Animation problem
Using the animation package, I am trying to show fish movement over a jpeg of our study area. I want to show fish detection at each of 5 sites on each day they are detected. Each of the five fish species will have their own color (not coded yet). I am able to create the animation, though the data is not plotting correctly, and I feel that the problem lies with a loop that I can't seem to

Odp: Fw: R function for Gage R&R
Hi Elaine I do not use it very often. I programmed it to mimic Minitab functions (partly) with some adons from czech statistics textbook written by M.Meloun (meloun militky statistics - first hit in google) Basically you can have your data in some data frame or they can be as separated vectors. The function itself expects input of 3 vectors, but you can easily to modify it for imput as

sweave question
Hi Everyone: I was having trouble getting the plot size correct when putting a plot in an sweave document. So, I searched on the internet and I found a clever solution where the person uses the cat function to write latex code so he can include the cat code in the chunk and place the plot using width and height. The solution is here: https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-help/2009-April/195094.html.

Hmisc-xtable label
Dear all: Does anybody know about label conflicts between xtable and Hmisc? I found a couple of e-mails similar to this problem but is not clear to me how to get around the label problem. The first table(longtable below) is generated with the latex function from Hmisc but for some reason when I try to hyperlink to it,it takes me to the top of the document. The second table created with the xtable

How to load a dataset
Hi: Since I didn't get any answers, I'll refresh my question. I have a dataset called "Chinook Run" saved in Excel and I want it to be loaded everytime R starts, so I can call it with a statement like the one below: qplot(color, Year/Forklength, data = Chinook Run) I wonder how can I do that. I went to the rprofile.site and copied the path to my dataset there and it

about multi-optimal points
Hi R users, I have some sets of variables and put them into one dataframe, like in the following. How to choose a specific set of pareto front, such as 10 from the current datasets (which contains more than 100 sets)? And how to show the 10 points on one figure with different colors? I can put all the points on one figure though, and have the code below. I drew two ggplots to show their

about multi-optimal points
HI lily, for the colouring of individual points you can set the colour aesthetic. The ID is numeric so ggplot applies a colour scale. If we cast ID to a factor we get the appropriate colouring. test_df <- data.frame(ID = 1:20, v1 = rnorm(20), v2 = rnorm(20), v3 = rnorm(20)) ggplot(data=test_df, aes(x=v1,y=v2, colour = as.factor(ID))) + geom_point()+ theme_bw()+ xlab('Variable 1')+

Interrater and intrarater reliability
Dear R users The following function is R code for the main compuations in the article: M. Eliasziw, S Lorraine Young, M Gail Woodbury and Karen Fryday-Field (1994): Statistical Methodology for the Concurrent Assessment of Intrarater and Intrarater Reliability: Using Goniometric Measurements as an Example. Physical Therapy 74 (8); 777-788 The function gives the estimated inter- and intrarater

summary : par(fig)
many thanks to P. Dalgaard, J. Fox, J. Lemon, JE. Paradis and J. Polzehl for their quick replies. The original posting is at the end of this summary. I've not well explained myself but I don't wanted to use par(mfrow) or par(mfcol) because I wanted to plot very different graphics and this solution doesn't match my needs. E. Paradis and P. Dalgaard made me discover a new (for me!)

about multi-optimal points
Hi Ulrik, Thanks for your suggestion, but it was not what I meant. I tried to use the rPref package but just got a very small sample and felt clueless. sqldf and not converting integers to floating point in SQLite
Hi, I have following 2 tables: Table 1: POSTAL | VALUE 1000|49 1010|100 1020|50 Table 2: INSEE | POSTAL A|1000 B|1000 C|1010 D|1020 I would like to convert this to the following: INSEE | VALUE_SPREAD A|24.5 B|24.5 C|100 D|50 I can achieve this with a nested SQL query (through counting the number of POSTAL that belong to any given INSEE, and diving the value of the postal in that INSEE by

Installing libhildonfm2-dev for scratchbox
What seems to be an easy thing to do as to install a library into scratchbox is being something difficult to debug. The command "/scratchbox/moz_scratchbox -p apt-get --yes --force-yes install libhildonfm2-dev" can be run in a linux vm with the account "cltbld" without any problems but when I try to test it from this same slave (I remove first the package) or any other slave

par(fig) problem
hello R-users, I'd like to plot four graphics on the same page but with different sizes. I've tried to use : par(fig=c(0,0.5,0,0.6)) plot(fig1) par(fig=c(0.5,1,0,0.6)) plot(fig2) etc... but when a figure is plotted, it erase the previous. I've tried to pass 'new=T' to plot function but it's not possible. What can I do ? is it a bug ? I've already reported this a 2 or

including Sweave tangled code in '.Rnw' document
Hello List, I have been using Sweave for my homework this last quarter and have been very impressed at how much time and effort it saves me. I, however, have run up against a problem which I have not been able to solve using any of the Sweave/LaTeX tricks I know. I work through my homework one problem at a time, typesetting equations and writing R code, etc. and occasionally use
