New R mailing list: R-SIG-insurance
Dear useRs,
Over the last few years R has gained a significant momentum in the
insurance industry. Dedicated packages have been written, numerous
presentations given, courses held, businesses set up, and IT
departments convinced. ;-)
Therefore, together with Markus Gesmann of Lloyd's of London, we
created a Special Interest Group mailing list to discuss R usage in

Insurance review statistical methods
Hi R users:
I will like to know if somebody works on insurance statistics
(actuarial problems) and had use TRICAST, and can tell me
if with all the R tools it can be build a solution
like TRICAST or similar.
In a word:
Do you think that R has all the statistical tools
(I mean modeling tools) to make a job similar to TRICAST?
Does TRICAST has modeling tools that are not implemented
on R yet?

No longer employed by rPath, Inc.
Hello all,
I am sad to say that I am no longer working for rPath, Inc. They have,
of course, been extremely supportive of all my upstream work, including
Syslinux, but have decided that given the economic climate they could no
longer afford to keep me on staff.
It does mean that while I still haven't figured out what to do next, I
am available to do short-term contracts if there is any

Detect version of smb being employed
FreeBSD 12
Samba 4.8.12
Samba is not showing up on my Win 10 PRO machine. I can access the
shares if I use the machines hostname or IP, though. How can I
determine what version of ?smb? is being used? I have set ?client max
protocol = SMB3? in the config file; however, I am not sure if it is
being used.
Thanks!

Insurance data in library(MASS)
I have used the insurance data from R library and I have 2 questions:
I use the following:

>data(Insurance)
> m1=glm(Claims ~ District + Group + Age + offset(log(Holders)),data =
Insurance, family = poisson)
>summary(m1)
Call:
glm(formula = Claims ~ District + Group + Age + offset(log(Holders)),
family = poisson, data = Insurance)

Health check
Hi,
I want to write an application that Health checks a virtual machine to see
whether the VM is up and running or not. I am using ESXi as my hypervisor.
Are there any libvirt API functions that I can use for this purpose?
Regards,
Ali

Crontab script to check health of Asterisk server?
Has anybody created a crontab script to check the health of an Asterisk
server?
The part I'm struggling with is some sort of IAX "ping" to test the
connection to each provider without making a call.

Monitoring Lustre for health and user experience??
Can anyone point me to a study or anything from some site that has a story re monitoring/tracking Lustre for:
* Basic health (to catch problems before users call)
* Performance régressions due to software, hardware, etc.
* Bad actors from the user community.
Are there simple probes of Lustre health?
* Are there metrics available from internal Lustre monitoring?
* Even

Use keepalive to monitor health of qemu-kvm process
Hi everyone,
I've had instances where qemu-kvm process dies and become a zombie. At
that state, libvirtd reports the instance to be running and I can't
restart the VM because libvirtd fails to kill the qemu-kvm process.
Finding the root cause of that is a topic for another day.
I also see this line in logs:
Jun 15 13:36:57 d12566 libvirtd: 10424: warning :

CS:S no crosshair, money, health, ammo, radar
Hello Community :)
I've a problem with Steam/Counter Strike Source and Wine, I've installed Steam (with no errors) with wine version: wine 1.1.44-1 and downloaded Counter Strike Source. If I tried to start it, it failed so I read something about ingame community should be disabled, I did and I added the -dxlevel 70 option to my "startline", it works!
I also can join games and

SNMP instrumentation and/or talk path health monitoring?
We're running a multi server Asterisk private network, including some PBXs
via private network PRI. As the system is growing and users are coming to
rely on it more we'd like to integrate it into our network management
environment to provide some basic health monitoring. The prefered method
would be SNMP as we're already monitoring the underlying Linux host. Has
anyone implemented

Health Monitoring
Hey,
I am looking for healt monitoring software for my centos5.1 box. Nothing
crazy (like nagios), just something that records memory/cpu usage every min
to 5 mins.
I added some vmware stuff and was looking to see when if swap gets used and
cpu spikes.

Director mailserver health monitoring script
Timo et al;
The last bit of functionality that the Dovecot director is missing
compared to our existing load balancers is mailserver health monitoring.
As I understand it, if a mailserver goes down, Dovecot does not take any
action to route connections around the offline node, and will keep
trying to proxy clients to it. Since we're hoping to cut over to
Directors soon, but don't want to

director: backend health monitoring
Hello!
I am wonder if there are plans to include backend health monitoring feature to Dovecot Director ?
Yes, I'm aware of poolmon by Brad Davidson but I think it's kind of must-have feature out of box.
thanks
