Customised legend in lattice
Hi List, Am trying to customize a legend in trellis: Draws 2x5 lines in 5 colors and 2 linetypes. I would like to add two more items to the legend showing the key for the line types above the colored legend. Any suggestions welcome - thanks Herry ############################# #Following example code: library(gregmisc) trellis.device(bg="white") i1=0 i2=-1.89767506 i3=-1.17087085

animated grid graphics
I need to make a fairly complex animated graphic and decided to use grid for it. A very simple example of what I need: ##============================================================================== library(grid) grid.newpage() pushViewport(plotViewport()) pushViewport(viewport(xscale = extendrange(c(0, 100)), yscale = extendrange(c(0, 100)))) grid.xaxis() grid.yaxis()

Help using gPath
Hi everyone,I'm trying to figure out how to use gPath and the documentation is not very helpful :( I have the following plot object: plot-surrounds:: background plot.gTree.378:: background guide.gTree.355:: (background.rect.345, minor-horizontal.segments.347, minor-vertical.segments.349, major-horizontal.segments.351, major-vertical.segments.353) guide.gTree.356::

Window on a vector
Dear all, I have a large vector (lets call it myVector) and I want to plot its value with the logic below yaxis<-myVector[1] yaxis<-c(xaxis,mean(myvector[2:3]) yaxis<-c(xaxis,mean(myvector[4:8]) yaxis<c(xaxis,mean(myvector[9:16]) yaxis<c(xaxis,mean(myvector[17:32]) this has to stop when the new ..... yaxis<c(xaxis,mean(myvector[1024:2048]) will not find the correspondent number

boxplot and xlim confusion?
I have some code as shown below. Basically, I would like three boxplots to be set next to each other with no ylabels on the two "inner" plots, and I want the same x axis range on all three. However, it seems like boxplot does not respect the xlim setting. I've tried the various ways I thought would work (par, boxplot(...xlim=)) but none of them seem to work. I then tried plot.window,

Where are the ticks on grid.xaxis?
Hi R list, I like the default ticks that are set up using grid.xaxis() or grid.yaxis() with no arguments. Finding good values for the 'at' argument is usually not a trivial task; the default behavior of these functions seems to work well. The problem with this strategy is that I cannot figure out how to "recover" the positions of these ticks when you do NOT specify the

Can anyone tell me how to plot on the same graph two different functions (of x) using two differnt y scales (axes 2 and 4)? Thanks Nelson

ctree
Hello, I plotted a nice tree with "ctree" . It shows 3 nodes with the prediction of my 2 groups. (see picture) Unfortunately I need a larger scale to read the exact prediction of my groups to get the specificity and sensitivity. I tried to change the scale with "axis" but it didn't work, my guess because it's not a normal graph with x and y axis. Has someone an idea

barplot and ylim - display problems
The following single line of code shows what I am trying to do, and the problem I am having... barplot(c(101,102,103),ylim=c(100,103)) The 'xaxis' is missing, and the grey bars 'fall off' the plot area. This is generally ugly, and I would like to trim the bars (ideally they would have a ragged appearance to show that I am 'zooming in'). I can see why what I am trying to

grid.legend - lines
I am testing out the grid-plots, but get into a problem making a legend. I have a line plot and some points, following the model in grid.plot.and.legend() i manage to get the points correctly in the legend, but what do I do with the line? (Of cource, I can just draw a line at the right location on the plot, but I would prefer to use legend) Morten -- Morten Sickel Norwegian Radiation

Two different yaxes with lattice plots
In "normal" plots, I can do an axis at side = 2 and a different one at side = 4. I've not been able to figure out how to do the same thing with lattice plots. The scales list can have only one sublist named y. I had thought of using a separate viewport alongside with the text for the axis label, but I can't see how I could get the ticks to work. Ideas appreciated. Thanks.

grid package and lines
Hello list, When using the grid package in R 1.60 under windows grid.lines and grid.line.to seem not to use the coordinate system as defined by the current viewport whereas grin.points does. Using dates on axis with Grid plots
Hi, I'm trying to use Grid plots and would like to have an X axis that represents dates. I have several years of data so I would like to be able to have labeled tick marks only intermittently (not one per date). I can transform the initial data from a date time string into POSIXlt or POSIXct, or Date objects. The issue is that when I try to layout the plot using: dev.off() pushViewport(

offset labeling boxplots
Hello everybody, often I plot boxplots with different number of boxes (up to 200 boxes). I'd like to give every box a readable label on the x-axis. Therefore, I decrease the fontsize of the names and plot them vertical. But if you zoom into the plot (pdf) you will find an offset between the tickmark and the label - the label is shifted to the right. If you vary the box.count in the

Setting lattice par parameters
Hello I'm plotting a large suite of barcharts and need to modify the size of the text for both the yaxis and xaxis labels. I've tried using the following: > trellis.par.set(list(par.ylab.text = list(cex = 0.65)), trellis.par.set(list = par.xlab.text = list(cex = 0.65)))) On inspection, however after I invoke this line, > trellis.par.get("par.ylab.text") >

I am attempting to generate a series of plots with cubic B-Splines and the code I am using is generating the following error message that I have been unable to resolve. error.crosses
Hello all, I have used describeBy to generate the following summary statistics. I simply need x and y error bars on a plot that has CQN (xaxis) and Price (yaxis). There should be four total points on the graph (one for each supplier). Using "error.crosses(desc$CQN, desc$Price)" does not work. group: a vars n mean sd median trimmed mad min max range skew CQN
